Vinted - So toxic!

Just that really. Is it just me or has anyone else had a horrendous experience of Vinted? I sell a lot of baby, toddler and young children clothes, have done okay, never had an issue until this last week. It’s as if all the buyers have turned into massive CFs.

People asking to send straight after they’ve bought! Being called a C**t because their payment didn’t go through so they missed out on a well sought after item of clothing. People trying to scam, messages of abuse when declining ridiculous offers, and I mean ridiculous!

Think I might have to call it a day on there, but just wondered if anyone’s noticed this more recently or is it just me???

I haven't experienced any of that!

meganna · 16/09/2024 18:05

Nope not experienced that at all!

UpUpUpU · 16/09/2024 18:06

Not experienced anything like that at all, sorry

Vitameen · 16/09/2024 18:08

I have been really lucky but a buyer not a seller - really lovely exchanges. Sorry it’s not the same for you x

Sortalike · 16/09/2024 18:09

Not had anything like that - sell quite a lot on Vinted, and so far it's been very pleasant (prefer it to ebay).

MissRachelismycoparent · 16/09/2024 18:14

I decline a lot of cheeky offers. For example a £35 coat new with tags on for £6 and people offering £2.50. Never had anyone rude... yet. I do think it's lost it's shine though

Catopia · 16/09/2024 18:16

I buy and sell and I've had some really lovely exchanges on Vinted. I think you've been unlucky. I would just not engage with the people being rude. You've sold the item, it's not your problem.

mushypaperstraws · 16/09/2024 18:19

I've found eBay a lot better than vinted, but I wonder if it's a generational thing. A lot of buyers and sellers of vinted are actually very young and probably have different expectations of service

Mosharella · 16/09/2024 18:23

It’s the sellers I can’t stand . So many lazy lazy sellers. Purchased so much where it’s just a total ghosting and then have to wait ages until the money is refunded.

CeliaCanth · 16/09/2024 18:28

The customer “service” is a joke. I contacted them to try and resolve an issue with my account. Was passed from pillar to post and given so much conflicting advice (if it could be dignified with the description) that I gave up and let them keep the money I supposedly made on a few sales. I’ve deleted my account now and good riddance.

OrangeJeans · 16/09/2024 18:29

It's not the place it was.

I often see comments like this, about people putting really cheeky offers in. How does that happen as I thought vinted had a limit on how low you can offer? Do they message you instead?

ImDuranDuran · 16/09/2024 18:54

Is there any sort of 'report' function for the nasty comments? Surely they should be penalised in some way.

MazeRunner · 16/09/2024 19:01

I’ve not experienced any abuse or scams. I’ve bought & sold a lot of stuff & most buyers/sellers are decent.

I’ve had a couple of persistent buyers who kept asking loads of questions and asking if I could send the item as soon as they bought it, but that’s it really.

I did report the C word user and I’ve not long had the review back from Vinted to say they didn’t do anything wrong 😂 unbelievable really!

Same until literally the last week! I’ve dealt with many lovely buyers and sellers and never had any issues until recently, they all seem to be coming out of the woodwork 👀

I have been quite lucky so far. But the FB rant pages are very eye opening. I think if I get a unhinged buyer I will just stop. The customer service is epically useless

NancyBellaDonna · 16/09/2024 19:19

I just block the rude ones.

Agree Vinted customer services has really deteriorated of late.

Cherrysoup · 16/09/2024 19:25

Nothing like OP has experienced! Only had one slightly odd seller who said they were delayed sending the item, saying there’d been a baby in the family, I assumed it was the parent, turns out the baby was her niece and a nearly 2 week delay meant I gave her 4/5 stars and she got really arsey! Now there’s a deadline on sending stuff, which at least gives you clue when it’s coming.

Totally agree re customer service, they make it really difficult to get a refund (holes in item, missing buttons that would have been difficult to replace plus the other item was completely see through which wasn’t mentioned or visible in the photos)

I really dislike that the descriptions on there are usually extremely brief and often there’s only one crappy photo.

Yes, I've had a couple of, "sorry I can't find it." If you can't find it, why are you selling it? And how did you get a picture of it?!

Soditsally · 16/09/2024 19:38

Gosh , I've not had anything like that , that's horrible

IMBCRound2 · 16/09/2024 19:41

Annoyingly it’s the seller/ who say they can post by a certain date and then just don’t? And then get annoyed when I either don’t collect because the event has passed so I no longer need the item or can’t collect because I’m away which is why I double checked in the first place if it would be sent in time?

makes no sense to me as they won’t get the sale- why not just be honest and are you too busy at the moment ?

FuglyBitch · 16/09/2024 19:42

I quit Vinted for eBay after 2 experiences that were a pain, someone claimed an item was damaged when they received it, it wasn’t. The second item had some damage and I told them before I shipped it and they changed their mind after receiving it.
eBay seems much more pleasant

90yomakeuproom · 16/09/2024 19:42

Not had that no

Gardendiary · 16/09/2024 19:45

I mostly buy, but I think I have been lucky so far. I've had some absolutely lovely interactions and everyone has been at least polite.
