How would you spend an £8k windfall??

Hypothetically speaking if you came into £8k unexpectedly (and say you didn't need to pay off any debts) what would your fantasy spends be?

@Moonshiners any idea what your getting yet? We’re looking currently probably going for an island bed in a motorhome.

I would take family on holiday.

Tisfortired · 16/09/2024 22:15

Most of it would pay off all of our debts and the rest we’d have a lovely Christmas I think.

I'm incredibly lucky to have a functional wheelchair for day to day that I used savings for, I just daydream over the ones that would give me access to the great outdoors!
Good to share the info though

Ah yeah in my dreams I would have access to a range of different chairs for different occasions Grin

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 16/09/2024 22:26

I'd put it in my pension or savings.

Moonshiners · 16/09/2024 22:44

@OurKidDoingWell I could only dream of that. Or current pot is only about £3k and most likely never get beyond £10. We will end up in some sort of squished transit van conversion. But the dream would be something like an Island bed. Good luck with it! Either way will be amazing.

Mortgage or pension. Yes, very middle aged!

QueenHilda · 16/09/2024 22:48

Straight white teeth

or

Hair, makeup and personal stylist consultations with top people, and a new wardrobe full of lovely new shoes and clothes.

KentnotClarke · 16/09/2024 22:51

Save 2 or 3 grand and use rest to upgrade small things like more silk pillow cases, possibly a big holiday or just keep it for smaller odd nights away.

It would be great to be more spontaneous and go away.

I find the months Jan to April very hard so having some winter blues cash to have more meals out would be good.

Re-render house exterior (or around 80% of it) 🤣

Mikunia · 16/09/2024 23:02

I would get some of those understairs drawers put in and then stick the rest in savings.

A holiday and a garden room! And doing the house and garden up.

In reality, half a garden room and no holiday.

Can't it be a hypothetical £20k £50k instead?!

ClosingTheDoorOnThePast · 16/09/2024 23:29

A new car. Mine's been so reliable but is getting to the age and mileage of likely will need money spent on it soon and I have no savings.

I'm quite worried about it tbh.

Pay the rent.

Nat6999 · 17/09/2024 02:41

I won £8k on online bingo, I had just lost loads of weight & went shopping for a new wardrobe, I bought everything down to new underwear. It was amazing to be able to buy exactly what I wanted, I spent £1k on new clothes, then I bought new makeup & perfume, had my hair restyled & had my nails done. A week later, I left my husband & got into a relationship with my late dp, who was 29 to my 44, exh was mighty pissed off that I was with someone who was 20 years younger than him, he couldn't handle the fact that someone so young could find me attractive. The weight loss & the makeover gave me the courage to leave & look for happiness, so the £8k was life changing for me.

I've recently had a similar windfall and have decided to spend on a family holiday next year 🏝️

MonkeyTennis34 · 17/09/2024 09:33

I'll add that I put it into Premium Bonds last year and it's already earnt/won £1050!

madeofwaxlarry · 17/09/2024 09:35

I recently got £10k. I put some on my mortgage, bought a puppy, and went on holiday.
