How would you spend an £8k windfall??

Hypothetically speaking if you came into £8k unexpectedly (and say you didn't need to pay off any debts) what would your fantasy spends be?

Oooh, a big shed when I can put my pole up!!

reluctantbrit · 16/09/2024 17:12

I got a similar sum and we added it to the holiday funds, had a fantastic and more luxurious one in the US.

Lakeyloo · 16/09/2024 17:19

Should go into the new car fund, or on doing a few bits around the house but i would love to get my eye bags sorted !

goingdownfighting · 16/09/2024 17:20

A little break and a little shopping trip then save the rest.

VestPantsandSocks · 16/09/2024 17:21

Cartier watch and ring thank you 😁

readingismycardio · 16/09/2024 17:21

3k savings, 5k holiday, although probably I'd spend it all on a holiday 🤣

MyStylish40s · 16/09/2024 17:22

I could easily spend that on home improvements that need doing - new carpets, new or paint current internal doors, painting, a new shower and bath.

A shopping trip with my dd, and then dinner and a night in a 4 star hotel.

Rocksaltrita · 16/09/2024 17:22

Holiday!

Nw22 · 16/09/2024 17:23

Either upgrade flights for our holiday next year or a cartier watch

Moonshiners · 16/09/2024 17:23

Into our campervan fund

Elphamouche · 16/09/2024 17:25

Split evenly between car, holiday and house bits. All of these would need topping up but it would be a great start!

PickAChew · 16/09/2024 17:25

I'd use it towards a kitchen that isn't falling apart.

A nice wheelchair (yes I have wheelchair envy!)

Ohhh I just spent some savings on a wheelchair and it was the best money ever spent. I feel like it's given me a bit of my life back.
I felt very lucky to have money spare. Well it wasn't really spare as it could have been spent on other things but my husband understood how much I needed it.

I would definitely say it is worth trying turn2us grant search though as some people with my condition have been successful getting wheelchairs that way

CassandraWebb · 16/09/2024 17:27

I'd split between savings, a bonus holiday and house renovations

Honestly, stick it in a pension, you'll thank me!

This would be me too!

Musiclover234 · 16/09/2024 17:36

Half for household decor things that we are saving for and then working through slowly!

Some of it for a holiday.

Paganpentacle · 16/09/2024 17:38

Kitchen.
Or driveway,

TulipTuesday · 16/09/2024 17:41

I have an unexpected inheritance due soon. Not sure how much but think it’s in the £6k-£8k range.

We’re planning:
First ever abroad holiday
New bed and mattress
New living room curtains and rug
Hopefully enough left over to book a short UK caravan break with our adult DC and grandson

Mebebecat · 16/09/2024 17:43

Alpolonia · 16/09/2024 17:29

This would be me too!

I could beat that for forward planning! I'd stick it in DS pension.

Frith2013 · 16/09/2024 17:52

House rewired.

Kitchen floor tiled.

Garage roof repaired.

Buy new passports. (I mean, I'm going to do this anyway, but I wouldn't wince at the price if I had £8000)

Shinyandnew1 · 16/09/2024 17:54

I think I’d save it/buy premium Bonds or something!

hopeishere · 16/09/2024 18:00

Wood burning stove.

City break.

Drachuughtty · 16/09/2024 18:02

4 week trip abroad

exLtEveDallas · 16/09/2024 18:03

Couple of 'extra' holidays (ie going for Xmas as well as our usual summer holiday)
