Elon Musk says on stage at a town hall that America PAC will be awarding $1 million every day until the election to a registered Pennsylvania voter who has signed his petition

He's also offering $100 to everyone who signs.

I am dreading it too. I don't know whether to try and engage and watch some results overnight or just stick my head under the pillow and just hope it works out.

I cannot believe that clip. The man running to be POTUS is talking about another man's penis size. And even worse, his fans laughing along. I did read in the NYT that his increased vulgarity could well alienate swing voters (undecideds)

Sounds like desperation to me.

The markets seem to be moving in his direction, part of me thinks it’s Musk etc flooding them to skew the forecast, essentially setting the stage to say the election was stolen.

Also 😡😡 at the fact Trump seems to have spoken to Netanyahu and suggested he shouldn’t be listening to Biden etc and should go after Iran hard. October ‘surprise’ in the making.

To be fair, Trump's disregard for political norms is what started the Maga cult in the first place.

However, the way he has acted this week does not fit the standard discourse of any western society, anywhere. I'm trying to imagine any of our UK politicians saying that on stage - they would be mocked derisively.

Trump is getting to the point where all the guardrails are going. I think he is ill, he is certainly tired and it's going to get worse. I suspect his campaign is hanging on by their fingernails until the vote is called before invoking the 25th amendment.

Surely if people are signing to get money, that renders the whole thing meaningless since it only shows how many people want 100 dollars, not how many people agree with the petition. Its like a man spending loads of money paying prostitutes/porn stars for sex and then claiming it proves how great he is with the ladies. Oh yes, Trump.

Looking at the small print:
"For that offer, he [Musk] said checks will be mailed to voter addresses on file in Pennsylvania.
He said the deadline to sign the petition is Monday night, the day that Pennsylvania voter registration closes. "

So it's not every day until the election, it's for less than three days: Saturday after he said it (some time after 4pm ET), all of Sunday and most of Monday. and I don't think I'd be watching my mail all that carefully even if I had signed: "the check's in the post" is one of the oldest lies in the book. Who is going to be confirming that they have been both sent and received?

I doubt that the people who sign the petition are particularly likely to have read the whole of the constitution; it's hard going in places, and it has long words in it.

Back from our visit to DH's family to celebrate a major milestone birthday - his DSM is 100 years old this month and has never voted for the GOP! She's an amazing woman who amongst other things volunteered with the WAA (Women's Action Alliance) set up by Gloria Steinem etc. in the 1970s.

Met up (briefly) with various relatives from MA, ME, NYC, NJ, PA, CA and AZ... almost all of them are registered Democrats so the echo chamber was large and loud and almost all of them are very fearful and expect Trump to win.😞 Put quite a dampener on the proceedings to say the least... they feel the momentum is with Trump and that there is a (false) consensus amongst Repubs that they will be better off with him in power, with many Repugs believing he is being persecuted!! All aided and abetted by the MSM who annihilated Biden for mis-speaking but who greenwash Trump's ramblings on a daily basis.

There's no doubt in my mind that Biden would never have won against Trump and Harris is doing an absolutely sterling job but listening to local news stations here it's apparent that there are still many who are still pushing but... but... a woman is too emotional, too easily manipulated, too weak... and that's ignoring the full-fat racism on show.

I despair.

If anything happens to Trump, US law says Vance takes over as President for the rest of the term
(see Nixon / Ford etc)

If he is guaranteed immunity, he woud give up the Presidency and pass it to Vance who is infinitely more dangerous
