Whose clever idea was it to put stickers on greetings cards?! Not the easy pull off ones but the ones that leave some of the sticker behind. I know very first world problems.

Anybody want to put anything into the black hole of hell?

Cheap cling film.

And cheap sellotape that sticks absolutely nothing!

This is my pet hate. Stupid, selfish fuckers!

AND people who stop dead at a roundabout when there is absolutely nothing approaching them from the right for about a fortnight!

Arctangent · 13/09/2024 13:20

I'd like Evri in there as well.

I don't think I need to say why!

Or, indeed, all delivery companies who don't use what3words, which would bring their delivery staff right to your door, but would rather have the courier running up and down your road until they give up and abandon your parcel at a neighbour's, leaving you (not paid by said delivery company) to find out where the hell it is!

Those jars of jam or chutney, where you can’t get the knife (or even a teaspoon) round the rim beneath the hole at the top to get the last bits out! (A finger works ok - although I only do that in private!)

Also, those sodding self-service checkouts at Tesco’s and the ‘Unexpected item in bagging area’ voice. I don’t think I’ve ever done the checkout without it going off on one. Funnily enough, the ones in Waitrose are much better…

Totally agree with you about self-service checkouts and I won't use them on principle (they do human beings out of work and why should I check out my purchases when the supermarkets don't pay me to?). I stopped using them when I heard the "unexpected item in the bagging area" once too often and I replied, loudly, "No there * isn't!" (because there wasn't). The condescending look I got from the 20-something staff member "supervising" these checkouts was enough to ensure I would never use them again.

Toilet seats.
We have a toilet where we have bought three seats that should fit but don't, or they slip.
Toilet seats are the bane of my life

You are not allowed to say 'toilet'.
I know this because I have an account at Barclays I name 'household'.
I treated my self to a new toilet seat, and wanted to transfer the money from 'household' back in to my current account. Ref 'toilet seat'. A message popped up to say I was using inappropriate language. Ref 'bathroom seat'. Accepted.
Toilet Toilet Toilet, so there!
Puts a whole new spin on potty mouth.

Hilarious! I wonder if "Loo seat" would have been acceptable?

What on earth is wrong with doing that?!? It's perfectly normal, reasonable behaviour. It helps a lot with grief and most (granted not all) older dogs are quite happy to sit and be entertained by a bouncy pup

Imagine being an elderly person, slowing down, getting stiffer, feeling more tired, maybe your eyesight's going, maybe you're getting a bit leaky. But you're happy and content. Life is perfect as it is with your family. The family you trust completely.

Then they just randomly invite a lively teenage to come and live with you. And the teenage wants your attention the most. And the way they get it is to jump on your head and shout at you while you're just trying to quietly live out your twilight years.

What a fucking horrible thing for your family to do to you - completely and unexpectedly upset the life you thought you had and thought you would have for your last few years.

That's to say nothing of the mindset of the owners who think "Well, this one's nearly knackered so better get the new one in before it conks out completely". A dog isn't a fucking fridge freezer.

As I said, horrible selfish cunts.

The new mince beef packaging, really horrible and the mince inside is more like mashed mince and not like it used to be!

Absolutely agree with you on this! It's awful.

An old one although I'm still adding it.
People who write could of, should of, would of instead of have. Please just STOP IT!😂

As a fellow pedant, I'm SO with you on this! I wouldn't mind if they wrote could've, should've, etc., which would at least be grammatically correct and show that they understand that the 've (of) sound is actually a contraction of "have". Sigh.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 15/09/2024 15:39

I can overlook should have, spelling mistakes and other grammatical errors, I can't with 'brought' instead of 'bought'.

It gives me so much inner rage. It's used by so many I thought it was maybe a regional thing.

FerreroFan · 15/09/2024 15:48

People who tell victims of domestic violence that it is their own fault they got into an abusive relationship in the first place.

If they had known the perpetrator was abusive at the start of the relationship, they obviously would have run a mile!

I also loathe those posters who tell the OP to leave immediately and then start attacking her and calling her useless when she doesn't immediately do what they say.

People still deserve support when it takes time to disentangle themselves.

Are those lids attached things because people who disposed of the bottle responsibly didn't dispose of the lids properly? I think they need to rethink the current design and have the lids attached on a longer line maybe?

Do they have the attached lids on glass bottles?

Presumably there are some boffins somewhere trying to design something that makes plastic properly disposable, so it composts or something.

They started appearing in my shopping trolley a couple of months ago and I also found them infuriating, but now I know why they've come about, I'm getting over my irritation. Apparently, "tethering" the caps is part of an EU directive announced in 2018 that aims to reduce single-use plastic waste. They're one of the most littered single-use plastic products on beaches, which end up in the sea causing injury to sea-life.

Agreed or have empty car seats in so think that qualifies

Similarly people who drive into disabled blue badge spaces. The driver sits in the car while the passenger sprints into the shop. I know there are invisible disabilities and the passenger may well be the disabled person, but I’ve seen it happen often enough to seriously doubt that’s the case every time.

All lane running (ALR) motorways - I refuse to call them "Smart" - plus every single Highways England employee and Government Minister who has enabled their proliferation. They should all be in Hell!

PussGirl · 15/09/2024 16:11

People who indicate before the exit before the one they want at roundabouts. Dangerous and wrong.

Wasn’t it an American thing ? I hear it used regularly on sit coms and the like. They also use ‘bring/ing’ instead of ‘take/ing’ and ‘brought’ instead of ‘taken’. ‘What really gives me inner rage is ‘there’ instead of ‘their’.

With you all the way on this. I’ve also noticed a marked deterioration in reading comprehension - posters piling on after either not reading either the OP or updates properly or completely misunderstanding what’s been said.

Duolingo is annoying me either this at the moment. Keeps telling me to translate sentences with "bring" where it can only be "take" in UK English. I know they're an American company but you should be able to choose UK English as a user of the app

but my own feeling is that Starmers’ Labour Party tare wolves in sheep’s clothing.
I'm amazed that anyone who lived through the 60s, not knowing your actual age so sorry if I've offended you, is surprised at the description of the Labour government, they were always wolves in sheep's clothing.

Eligible to vote in the early 80’s when Thatcher was setting about destroying the manufacturing industry in favour of her mates in the service and banking sectors. Not a chance I’d have voted for her or her successors. I voted Labour up to the first time Tony Blair took them to victory. Couldn’t justify it after that so wasted my vote on Lib Dem until the coalition debacle and then voted Green. I couldn’t vote Tory in good conscience after the absolute dogs’ dinner they made of the last 14 years, and decided that Labour was the only way to vote them out - I suspect a lot of people did the same and lived to regret it. Never been so disgusted.

If you do not know your history then you are destined to repeat it.

There’s another sucker born every minute.

famous quotes that pertain to this, it is hard to blame the newer members of society but the ones that already lived through it hmm?

And given the appalling track record of the Tories over the last fourteen years, what would you suggest ? Voting a party into government that’s so clearly in disarray would have been even more of a disaster for the country. The only way to vote them out was to vote Labour in the hope that at least they wouldn’t be as bad as the Tories. In the event, I think they’re pretty much on a par, having signalled their intention to screw everyone over in the name of a ‘black hole’ of which there is no evidence forthcoming. It’s all depressingly familiar.

I totally agree. People who have been the victim of abuse from family members in the real world don't need abuse from strangers online!
