I prefer salted. Trying to find a decent one is proving difficult. What do you guys like to use?

M&S own brand salted butter is my personal favourite. Great value too. Failing that - good old Irish Kerrygold.

WappityWabbit · 12/09/2024 23:08

Any Irish small farm brand.
Aughadown creamery butter is my preferred one.

Kerrygold as its the only grass fed one I can find.

Have a look at organic butter https://www.soilassociation.org/take-action/organic-living/what-is-organic/organic-milk-dairy/#diet

Most British cows are grass fed, it's the norm, so you won't see it on packets.

M&S Brittany salted butter.

That said I’ve just added the Isigney unpasteurised to my Ocado order as it’s 20% off.

I hope it lives up to the billing I gave it 😅

Got a Tesco organic butter as a substitution. It was delicious! Trying very hard not to buy it again as it was pricey.

Copperoliverbear · 12/09/2024 23:23

M&S salted jersey butter or all things butter salted organic butter.

Copperoliverbear · 12/09/2024 23:27

Meant to say both on Ocado.

TonTonMacoute · 12/09/2024 23:34

My favourite butter is from a local farm dairy, but I have found Trewithen butter is very good. Not sure if it's available outside Cornwall and the West Country though.

KnickerlessParsons · 12/09/2024 23:48

Shirgar Welsh butter is the best.

Davros · 12/09/2024 23:58

Any M&S English or British butter. They have a few lovely ones. I only buy their "softer" butter too for spreading, it's the only one that is only butter. Most have oil in them and President has added cream. I would not buy butter from France or other countries as I live in the Uk and we have excellent products, less miles etc. ditto other foodstuffs depending on what they are. Buy from your home producers!

Yes, I fully agree with this. Why buy French when we have some of the best dairy in the world right here in the UK? Support local produce and farmers!

Castle Dairies Welsh butter with Halen Mons sea salt, the best butter I have ever tasted. You can buy it from Ocado.

RabbitsRock · 15/09/2024 21:12

Thanks everyone. Can’t be doing with seasalt crystals though!

Just tried slightly salted President - oh my goodness SO much nicer than the supermarket’s own! Some of that tasted rancid when it was still in date!

Feel a bit like I’m missing out here…. I wasn’t expecting to be the ONLY lurpak repsonse. I will venture out and report back in due course.

Loyal lurpak customer here. Still remember all those years ago eating a sample of lurpak butter spread onto a bit of baguette at sainsburys.. we went straight in and got our own tub.

Agree.

Ohthatsabitshit · 18/09/2024 23:14

Lurpak for me or homemade (which is cheaper and involves turning on a mixer and waiting a few minutes).
