I'm NE England. Heating has been on today. Really nippy here. I am coming down with a cold though so may be feeling colder than usual. Dh said it's cold too though.

Where are you if it's gone on?

I put mine on yesterday and again today - Cotswolds - sooooo cold!

ellebelli · 12/09/2024 21:00

I am in Lancashire and we have just turned it on this very minute

Jellycatspyjamas · 12/09/2024 21:00

Central Scotland and yes the heating has been on for an hour or two every day this week to take the chill off the house.

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 12/09/2024 21:03

I can't image ever putting the heating on in September. Would have to be some kind of "the day after tomorrow" type scenario for me to give in. 17 degrees in the house when I checked earlier, so definitely jumper amd slippers temperature. It was cold enough for me to wear a coat for the first time since spring too.

Goneback2school · 12/09/2024 21:03

Reading 19-20 degrees on the thermostat in SE Ireland. We still have windows open 24-7. Not ready for heating yet, hoping to hang in a bit longer. It's on in work for the past week.

ISpyNoPlumPie · 12/09/2024 21:07

SE, got my electric blanket out today. No heating. But I’m cold and I really want to put it on… Will go to bed with a cup of tea and my fleece instead. Thermostat says 20 but it’s a liar.

Dymaxion · 12/09/2024 21:09

Yorkshire. Haven't yet, its supposed to warm up again isn't it ? but I am considering buying a nice long snuggly dressing gown for the cooler mornings. Currently sitting in jeans and a T-shirt and don't feel cold, but I am very fat and menopausal ! Grin

Wellfuckmesideways · 12/09/2024 21:10

NW but it's not gone on yet, I'm just testing it to make sure it's working.

Cobblersorchard · 12/09/2024 21:12

We have an air source heat pump, it’s never off but only kicks in and heats when below the set temp, it came on last week on a very wet day and has kicked in the last 2 days. We have it set to 16 upstairs and 19 downstairs.

MaidOfAle · 12/09/2024 21:14

I don't turn mine off for the summer. It's got a thermostatic controller and will stay off all by itself until the temperature drops enough to make it come back on again.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/09/2024 21:15

We've not needed it yet, solely due to the fact we're in a new build which stays lovely and warm. Had we still been in our Victorian semi, we'd have definitely been testing it out!

NW coast.

alrightluv · 12/09/2024 21:15

Yes mine's set at 18°c so I haven't turned it on it's turned on.

Yes same!

Threeboystwocatsandadog · 12/09/2024 21:21

Scottish Highlands. Ours has been on for an hour in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening. Dh really feels the cold and sits in his jacket and hat so needs must. We won’t get the winter fuel payment this year so I’m trying to be careful. It’s supposed to be a bit warmer next week 🤞

feellikeanalien · 12/09/2024 21:21

We're in the NE too. Not got the heating on as I'm trying to save on the oil but we have got the fire on in the living room. It's a cosy 19 degrees in here now. It was 3 degrees when we set out on the school run this morning but it was lovely and sunny.

BG2015 · 12/09/2024 21:24

West Midlands (North Staffordshire) DP and I under blankets and we had it on for an hour.

Kneidlach · 12/09/2024 21:25

I don’t understand why some people refuse to put the heating it on until a particular time of year. Surely the date is irrelevant, if it’s cold put the heating on. I put mine on as soon as the house temp drops below 20C - life is too short to be uncomfortable and cold.

Of course I understand if cost is a factor but it seems some people just seem to think they’re superior for not putting their heating on until 27 November or whenever.

littleredcaravan · 12/09/2024 21:26

Manchester.

MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix · 12/09/2024 21:26

Northern Isles here, had to have it on at various points all summer as usual but it’s been on in earnest the last couple of days.

Oneblindmouse · 12/09/2024 21:27

I'm in Bury. My heating came on automatically yesterday morning and again this morning at 7am for around an hour and a half. Not coming on at any time the rest of the day yet though.

TylerEndicott · 12/09/2024 21:28

Cumbria, but have only had it on first thing in the morning

CalliopePlantain · 12/09/2024 21:29

Mid wales and I put mine on about 17:30. Dd(5) is ill though, I probably wouldn’t have done if she wasn’t.
The thermostat is set to go on at 17 and it’s 19 now

Violinist64 · 12/09/2024 21:29

East Midlands here. It's very Autumnal here.

purpleme12 · 12/09/2024 21:29

Neighbours put it on today but it's nowhere near cold enough to put it on yet in my opinion!
West Yorkshire

LaFidola · 12/09/2024 21:30

Nowhere near yet (very far central south).

I popped to our local shop in a t shirt and flip flops earlier.
