If you own your house, do you service your boiler annually?

Reading all the “shall I put the heating on?” posts, I’m surprised by how many people apparently have their boiler serviced regularly (appreciate this is mandatory if it’s a rented place, so I’m talking about homeowners who are meant to sort this stuff ourselves). How many of you are on the ball about this, please?

A car has moving parts

So do boilers. What about the pump? Plus not just moving parts wear out. Seals etc. are pretty important.

Yep the guy who installed it services it every August.

No, we are appalling, despite having the gas safety certificate for our tenants! We had the heating looked at this week plus other plumbing related stuff. The boiler would barely re-start, fan is screwed, guy needs to come back to overhaul it. Praying it doesn’t need replacing, it was replaced some years ago. 😢 We are shameful.

Can't afford it so no I do t do it. If I could afford it I would do it annually

Yes. I also get them to check all the radiators at the same time and bleed any that aren't getting warm. Boiler is 11 years old and still going strong!

You can do that yourself periodically.
