Who is the most famous person alive today?

virgocatlover · 11/09/2024 18:22

As in, well known world wide by face or name.

I would say the Queen was up there when she was alive but not sure Charles would make the top 10 now.

Trump, Putin or Elon Musk perhaps?

Obviously there are many famous Hollywood actors and singers but are any the most famous worldwide where English isn't the first language?

Putin or Trump or Elon Musk, Obama, Catherine, Princess of Wales, Kamala Harris, Taylor Swift. One of them

Josette77 · 11/09/2024 20:12

I'd say Trump sadly.

Followed by Kim Kardashian

Mulhollandmagoo · 11/09/2024 19:34

Could it be a Kardashian? Based on logic, they're consistently the most googled people they have the highest social media followings, they are very frequently in mainstream news and tabloids.

Taylor Swift is a great shout, as is Lionel Messi!

I think if Kamala Harris wins the election in November she could top the list though as the first ever female president of the USA

Really tough question, which I will be pondering all night now 🤣

I don't think it's a tough question at all. It's Trump.

Princess of Wales

It will be a footballer. Universal language. Go anywhere in Africa and everyone knows David Beckham.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/09/2024 20:11

Football isn't remotely interesting to many people.

Agreed.

But it's got nothing to do with being popular or having loads of followers or what people are interested or not interestec. I don't see how anyone over the age of about 8 couldn't know who Donald Trump is. It's unavoidable.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 11/09/2024 20:17

Also going with Paul McCartney - I think people forget just how huge The Beatles were. The news coverage when he goes will be off the scale (hope that's no time soon!)

ErrolTheDragon · 11/09/2024 20:18

I don't suppose all that many people in North America know these soccer players.

NewMe2024 · 11/09/2024 20:20

Yeah, not very exciting but I think probably Trump.

Kate Middleton would probably top some of these suggestions.

MsProbably · 11/09/2024 20:22

My (20s) relatives even in Greece hadn’t heard of Taylor, so i imagine her fame is more regional than we expect!

There's no way Paul Macartney is the most famous living person alive.

It's always going to be whoever the President of the US is. It's impossible not to know who he (or maybe she?) is.

Darkfloods · 11/09/2024 20:23

I also think footballer.
Years ago DH went to India and was called David Beckham a few times. DH is white and blonde but
doesn’t look like DB, it’s more a reflection of the influence DB had at the time.

Also Trump.

I don't think you realise how long ago that was and how many people that might have recognised him have died, and how many more have since been born that could no more recognise him than identify a Kardashian.

Ronaldo 100%. On race across the world, the contestants were in a tiny village in Malaysia or somewhere like that, they lived in a wooden shack and spoke no English. All the local kids were doing the Ronaldo "sooooo" action!

I was going to say this! I’m shocked at some of the previous posters mocking people suggesting footballers. Football is massive worldwide!

Easipeelerie · 11/09/2024 20:26

Garron Noone

PadstowGirl · 11/09/2024 20:26

Paul McCartney is a legend but a lot of younger people (esp in other countries) will never have heard of him.
I'm going to say the very recognisable orange idiot Trump.

Passionfruitpunch1 · 11/09/2024 20:27

Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Donald Trump

ZiriForGood · 11/09/2024 20:27

Xi Jinping overall

Droupadi Murmu in women's category

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you can't seriously think it might be Tyson Fury

SeptemberIRememberALoveOnceNewHasNowGrownOld · 11/09/2024 20:29

I’d recognise no football-related people, apart from Gary Lineker and David Beckham, nor any Kardashians. I would recognise Taylor Swift, though.

I wouldn’t recognise Trump without his distinctive hair-cemented-forwards hairstyle.

Mebebecat · 11/09/2024 20:30

Got to be Trump sadly. Apparently it used to be the Queen. And yes, Ronaldo will be right up there.

LibertyStars · 11/09/2024 20:31

Ronaldo. Massively famous in every country in the world.
