And are you on a meter?
How many family members etc...

I'm one adult, 2 primary dc.
No shower but we share baths. Not every day
4-5 loads of washing a week.

Not on a meter.
£74 a month.

Ours is 89 quarterly, 2 adults, approximately 4 loads of washing a week, so yours is rather a lot. You would benefit from a water meter.

Allnewtometoo · 11/09/2024 16:21

I've asked around, everyone I've asked (either adult, 2dc , 2 adults 2 dc) pay between £25 and £40

We pay 72 a month. Thames water on a meter.

3 adults and two teens. Daily showers and an awful lot of loads in the washing machine. Dishwasher every other day at a guess.

The standing charge is approx 10 a month so I’m a bit surprised at some of the very low amounts.

One of the teens is due to go to uni soon so hope that helps with the price a bit.

Fuck me! How are your bills so tiny??

£120 a month. Not metered.

That sounds excessive. Do you have long showers or do many loads of washing? You might have a leak somewhere.

£500.24 a year this year (paid over 8 months April to November - £62.53 a month.) Small-ish 2 bed home.

If it was paid in 12 instalments - it would be £41 a month.
.

NOT on a water meter.

But if we’re not on a meter, how would they even know that?

caringcarer · 11/09/2024 16:29

My water bill is through the roof. We have a water meter so I know we must be using the water. I have a foster child who has SN's and insists on a full bath once or twice a day as well as a shower and will only wear clothes once. So clean PJ's every day, 2 or 3 tops and trousers every day because he does a lot of sport. DH and I only use normal amounts of water and shower once a day. Our bill for 1 quarter was more than a family bill for a year. Not much we can do about it.

caringcarer · 11/09/2024 16:30

Just found it £456 last quarter.

JackGrealishsAliceBand · 11/09/2024 16:30

No meter 4 adults 3 children 34 pounds a month

Bignanna · 11/09/2024 16:30

I’ve heard it said that, if you have more bedrooms than people in the house, it’s worth having a meter

Ilovemyshed · 11/09/2024 16:30

Just out of interest, why do so many folks pay monthly.

Twice yearly bills here. Combined water and sewerage just under £50/ month two adults. Lots of washing and baths.

OminousBirdAWing · 11/09/2024 16:32

As pp have said, it's hard to compare because water costs vary so wildly around the country.

However, I am with Anglian on a metre, 4 bed, 3 adults, daily washing, dishwasher and showers and a keen interest in gardening so some watering in the summer. £90 per month.

Nannyfannybanny · 11/09/2024 16:33

£23 a month, combined water and sewage. 2 adults, grandkids staying most weeks..meter. Our lady proper tiny cottage, one DC still left at home we paid £23 per month just for the water, cant remember how much waste was. Moved here 13 years ago,was paying £11 for water supply. Wish I had a meter installed years ago
.we have a large garden,5 water butts out there. We are very careful.

I don't notice mine going out at the beginning of the month. If I got given a big bill at the end of the year, I would struggle to find the money to pay it.

Blushingm · 11/09/2024 16:36

£59 per month - on old style rates not a meter

Blushingm · 11/09/2024 16:40

And mine is seeearge and water combined

Because I don't have £760 to pay my annual bill in full. There's no additional cost to paying monthly

Dontcallmescarface · 11/09/2024 16:43

2 adults
1 load of washing a week
shower every day
metered
£21 pm.

Really.....? Confused Everyone I know pays bills monthly. (Nearly all by direct debit.) Phone, council tax, mortgage or rent, water bill, internet, electric, gas, car insurance, house insurances, breakdown cover for car etc.

Most people don't pay their household and utility bills for the year in one big lump sum. (Or even 2!)

PrettyAsAVine · 11/09/2024 16:49

We pay £55 a month on a meter.

Family of 4
Daily showers, no baths
Washing machine used at least twice a day
Dishwasher used daily
Dogs that are showered regularly after muddy walks

Nourishinghandcream · 11/09/2024 16:50

Between £25-30/month on a metered supply but with no charge for surface water run-off.
Two of us in a four bed, both shower each day, dishwasher, washing machine, water the garden, wash cars etc.

My parents lived in the same water authority area in a similar sized house but never had a meter, their bill was over twice ours. Tried to convince them to change but they wouldn't.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 11/09/2024 16:51

1 adult in a 1 bed flat.
35 a month.
Not able to have a meter installed.

And Thames Water want to increase it above inflation to keep themselves afloat. Greedy bustards.

MiseryIn · 11/09/2024 16:51

Mine was £25pm and now gone up to £42pm! Just teen DC and me.
Both shower pretty much daily, dishwasher every other, around 3 loads of washing a week.

I think it's gone up way too much and I'm going to have to try and work out why!
