Happy to see Princess Kate doing so well, but...

I'm really glad to see Kate doing so well, and I am glad she has finished chemo looking so healthy and happy. However my sister and I cannot stop laughing at the video Kensington Palace have just released.

We think the video has a striking resemblance to the Twilight films, only warm toned and shorter.

Narration - check
Holding hands while lying down in a meadow - check
Tree climbing - check
Stacks of logs - check
Dramatic sweeping shots of trees - check

I was waiting for William to say something really cringy while giving Kate a piggy back ride.

Not for me. I can see her main page but not the video. Maybe it's followers only.

I don't expect or want anything really. However I am allowed to voice my thoughts on it which isn't tearing her down it's just my personal preference about this types of videos. I find them all cringe no matter who makes them.

@Spectre8 - Very well said!

CurlewKate · 10/09/2024 11:33

I would actually have liked some acknowledgement of the HCPs who helped her. And her reference to concentrating (can't remember exactly the word she used) on staying cancer free rang some woo alarm bells.

😂I like your attention to detail.

This is a serious point. All the people where I live ( in a big forestry area) are really concerned about it. It's not just a bit of fun, if you disrupt the log stack they can start to roll and crush people.

I loved it. After the all the speculation and downright nastiness directed at Kate through her illness I think she’s quite right to take control and put out what she pleases. I mean we’re all interested in one way or another or wouldn’t be on this thread. Good for Kate!

I wonder who she is getting advice from before she uploaded the video? I won't mention you know who.

You're not wrong, expect some sort of statement from the royals later maybe!

Cynic17 · 10/09/2024 11:43

It teeters on the verge of sentimental, which is very much not to my personal taste. I much prefer the King's approach of downplaying the whole thing and cracking on with work (and no doubt with some black humour and swear words behind the scenes).
But what I think doesn't matter - not to mention the fact that the King is Head of State, so we do need him to carry out his duties, where possible.
Given all the bullshit the Waleses have had to put up with on social media, I think it's fine for them to manage their PR however they see fit. We don't all have to like it, but I certainly hope she recovers well and that they continue to be a happy family.

No I imagine she means with keeping fit, not drinking alcohol etc. it’s what I do, positive ways of keeping cancer free.

Countrylife2002 · 10/09/2024 11:52

It’s also a different thing getting cancer when you’re young, with young kids, to getting it in your 70s. So Kate’s response will be different to Charles’.

Shadowbox7 · 10/09/2024 12:01

You know these kids are at private school though...
Presumably the vitriol about independent schools on here doesn't apply to this family that none of us knows.
Ironic or different audience?

Agree, and some acknowledgment of her extreme privilege.

Thank God! I thought I was the only person on the planet who was cringing. I wish this girl all the best and I'm truely glad she's doing better. But that was way, WAY over the top and I'm still laughing. The laying in the grass, the patting her like a collie and the soft focus hand holding. 🤣

In our morning Teams chat at work, every single person said it was cringe-inducing, and much worse. And some of them are royalists!

The absent minded patting made me chuckle too 🤣

It’s getting mean guys, getting really mean…

“Cringe-inducing and much worse” is pretty harsh.

These are people who have been through a lot - though I did think there was sone sense in the post that said William has a golden opportunity to really step up now his wife, Dad and Aunt are all poorly.

Thisoldheartofmine · 10/09/2024 12:49

Mmm the patting .
But I thought that shot (in the carefully curated film ) of William elbowing his son off him as the child moves in for hug was a bit off .
It's about 1.50 mins in when they're playing some kind of card game in a field/woodland clearing .

HamSad · 10/09/2024 12:56

If she has the energy for this, she has the energy to visit a charity for half an hour once or twice a week.

What do you want people to say can no one speak their truth?

I didn't get on with my mum and she had cancer do I pretend she's the best mother in the world because she has cancer? My mother is a wife, a mother and a grandmother should that change peoples opinions?

If you like her video great but not everyone will.

I’ve said above what my thoughts are. I think the video misfired a bit despite what I think were not bad intentions.

Im never really sure what the phrase “ speaking one’s truth” really means. Is it just an excuse to say things we would otherwise call nasty if we talked about “ giving one’s opinion?”

I don't think saying something is cringe is being nasty they're trying to be current with the times. The late Queen and King Charles would never make a fuss they just get on with it. I think we are going to see more of this and I think Meghan has inspired her. The RF need to change they are outdated and stuffy.

I think it will be appreciated by many on a cancer journey.

We are not on a fucking journey
We are being treated for a disease. Nobody has an appenisectomy journey. Nor a flu jouney
It's cancer and treatment can be shit

😂...kneeling down singing while fawns and bunnies gather around...actually maybe not kneeling, we get to a certain age and we need to be helped up, though there'll be a flunky on hand to do that I expect.

Pathetic
