What do you like on your crumpets?

Time of day affects toppings for me- in the morning if I were to have a crumpet, it's strictly toasted with butter. Mid afternoon, I'd go for butter, thin layer of marmite and a slice of cheddar. Evening crumpet- crumbled blue cheese and a drizzle of honey.

It sounds like I eat crumpets three times a day, but actually I remember to buy a pack once in a blue moon and remember how good they are Grin

As much butter as I can fit on it, that's all.

Talipesmum · 08/09/2024 08:12

Butter (lots, as nice as possible) and honey. So it drips through the holes and makes a round puddle.

Savoury version on occasion - butter, marmite and a slice of cheese.

SquatWeightaMinute · 08/09/2024 08:14

Just butter, proper butter not spread of any kind and it has to be salted and plentiful.

Bimblesalong · 08/09/2024 08:15

Ah, I have found my people. Properly toasted deep crumpets with a bit of crunch to them, salted butter and marmite.

Onelifeonly · 08/09/2024 08:16

Peanut butter or cheese

charlieinthehaystack · 08/09/2024 08:16

Crumpetdisappointment · 08/09/2024 08:16

BrendaSmall · 08/09/2024 08:17

Yuk!
🤣🤣

crumpets, nope don’t eat them, I can’t even buy them ,

Yozzer87 · 08/09/2024 08:17

I don't really eat crumpets but if I do, just butter. I feel like they're designed for the butter to melt all the way through and anything else takes away from that.

EveryDayisFriday · 08/09/2024 08:18

Double toasted with salted butter. Sometimes with a light scraping of marmite if I need more salt but just butter is delicious.

Putmeinsummer · 08/09/2024 08:18

Cream cheese and a blob of jam. I call it a budget cream tea.

ChristmasJumpers · 08/09/2024 08:19

Sometimes I like to make a little starter - main - dessert out of Crumpets.

Starter - just butter
Main- butter, cheese and sliced tomato
Dessert - butter and raspberry jam

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 08/09/2024 08:19

Butter and jam

or

Butter, marmite and cheddar

or

Just butter

always enough butter to be oozing on the plate

lollyPaloozah · 08/09/2024 08:19

My go to is just butter (as much as possible!)

If I fancied something different I like butter, then a tiny smear of marmite, and topped with mature cheddar (pop it under the grill for a second to melt the cheese)

InfoSecInTheCity · 08/09/2024 08:20

Usually just salted butter, the real stuff.

If I'm in the mood though, they are a great vehicle for eggs, either scrambled egg with plenty of cheddar and sliced spring onions or fried egg with a runny yolk that soaks into all the little holes.

ShillyShallySherbet · 08/09/2024 08:20

One with chocolate spread and no butter, one with butter and honey. Mmmmm

OldTinHat · 08/09/2024 08:21

About half a pound of butter and, if I'm feeling very decadent, a slice of very mature cheddar on the top.

MorningYawning · 08/09/2024 08:24

2 crumpets, one with lots of butter and marmite and the other with lots of butter and chunky marmalade.

Yummy!

ButterAsADip · 08/09/2024 08:26

Shit tons of butter and marmite. Any time of day. Must be hot and ideally crispy. My kid likes un-toasted crumpets 🤢

CandyflossKid · 08/09/2024 08:26

I remember going to The Pump House in Bath 25 years ago and having crumpets with butter and honey.

Absolutely amazing!

Me too, butter and honey is so delicious. I can't buy it as just eat too many

LucyBee666 · 08/09/2024 08:29

Loads of salted butter and a poached egg so the yolk oozes down through the holes. Yum.

Errolwasahero · 08/09/2024 08:32

Another vote for marmite (anyone tested Tesco’s own? It’s a game changer!) but with loads, and crunchy peanut butter on top.

Towerofsong · 08/09/2024 08:35

Toasted and then cheese on top, grilled (or melted in airfryer)

TheBlackCatWithTheWhiteSpot · 08/09/2024 08:36

Always start with a double toasted crumpet and plenty of butter, then add another topping.

My favourite is crunchy peanut butter. It seems a shame to have anything else when it is so good.

But I also have been known to have:
fried egg (upside down so it goes through the hole).

Marmite

Cheddar, grilled like cheese on toast.

I prefer savoury toppings, but honey or raspberry jam are nice very occasionally.

DC favour Nutella, honey or biscuit spread.
