What do you like on your crumpets?

Time of day affects toppings for me- in the morning if I were to have a crumpet, it's strictly toasted with butter. Mid afternoon, I'd go for butter, thin layer of marmite and a slice of cheddar. Evening crumpet- crumbled blue cheese and a drizzle of honey.

It sounds like I eat crumpets three times a day, but actually I remember to buy a pack once in a blue moon and remember how good they are

In the morning - lots of butter and a freshly poached egg on each.

Afternoon - lots of butter and tiny smear of honey

Late evening, sundried tomato pesto mixed with a little olive oil to make it runnier, topped with cheese & grilled.

Not usually on the same day

Butter. Lots.

Butter and marmite!

Jam, marmite, peanut butter or seriously strong cheese spread. Butter first with all of them and double toasted

So interesting. I think of them as inherently a sweet flavour vehicle, and feel excitingly daring when doing the marmite and cheese variation!

Most often: just butter (and a sprinkle of maldon crunchy salt)

Also excellent: marmite and cream cheese.

I like lemon curd on fried Staffordshire oatcakes.

Oh my I love crumpets.

But since becoming GF I have not yet found a decent GF crumpet.

Morning for breakfast- just plain butter and a bit of salt.

If in the afternoon I like butter and blackberry jam and a cup of mint tea.

If you want THE best ever, make the Hairy Bikers crumpet recipe from scratch and use some high end jersey butter with seasalt.

Having always been a butter on a well toasted crumpet sort of person, I got this months Good Housekeeping and lo........GIANT CRUMPETS are a thing and also did their recipe which had Welsh rarebit on them and they was divine.

I have no idea how much butter you would need for a giant crumpet, but I'm guessing as an amount not recommended by doctors.

I reckon I'm the only Bovril addict in Britain, but let me tell you it's elite on a crumpet, and much nicer than Marmite. Umami and gorgeous....mmm..

Haven't had this for ages, but strawberry jam topped with mashed banana is delicious
