Tea, properly made tea. It is essential that it is perfect, every time.

Possibly also 1 piece swimsuits, I cannot abide a narrow gusset or strap that slips.

What about you?

In everything according to my DH but he likes to call it "fucking picky". I prefer "discerning".

Not a connoisseur as such, but I can spot fake sweeteners at one sip or taste.

muddlingthrou · 08/09/2024 07:00

Just read the whole thread hoping for the lasagne tips!

I make an amazing spaghetti Bolognese, it's taken me years to perfect the recipe. I also get requests every Christmas for my Christmas pudding brandy, it takes 9 months at least to be a good one. Christmas pudding flavoured brandy, to be clear. Not brandy flavoured Christmas pudding.

People. I can usually get the character of someone within a short time of meeting them.

@vipersnest1 that is a great skill to have. Have you ever been wrong?

For me also, very very soft nightwear in natural fabrics. If anyone needs assistance do not hesitate to ask!

Please recommend some brands! I am forever on the hunt for said items

Seafood. I cook scallops, lobster, monkfish and can fillet most fish

Need tips for all 3 please!

I like Nyetimber, Ridge View and Chapel Down. All lovely on a sunny evening in the garden. Rathfinny is also good and worth a visit - fab way to spend an afternoon!

Bacon sandwich - personally I like smoked back bacon crispy but not burnt, fresh white bread, lots of butter and BROWN sauce. Always up for trying variations and have recently discovered the delight of a little guacamole on one side of the bread. Can’t beat the classic though.

Parking - small car plus I’m ancient so decades of practice!! 😃

I am a great fan of Jane's Patisserie recipes, particularly triple choc brownies and millionaire's shortbread. She gives loads of tips and tricks too.

The key to brownies is that you are bold and take them out whilst they are still pretty wobbly in the middle, with a shiny cooked 'frame' about an 3-4cm around the edge. Leave them to cool and put them in the FRIDGE overnight- that's what makes them fudgy. Mine need about 25 minutes. Once they cook more, you will get a dry dense cake. A bit under is always better than a bit over!

Enjoy!

@DaphneDahlia only with people who I thought I'd get along with. And that's only happened rarely.
