If you had to choose between netflix, prime or something else?

What would you choose? We have netflix, but ds reckons he has seen everything on it that he is interested in. Id rather delete it and get something else rather than just get more, but I don't know if the others are as good

My dh would really miss Disney plus. Most of what I watch is on iplayer or 4, some Apple. Netflix is having one of its patches where i ca nt find anything on it. They all have quite different vibes but I'm not massively into big series, I find them a grind.

Apple. Prime is shocking

brittanyfairies · 08/09/2024 06:45

Apple

BearBuggy · 08/09/2024 06:46

What are you watching on Disney? We had a trial of Disney and couldn’t find anything.

Bjorkdidit · 08/09/2024 07:01

It depends what you like. Disney plus definitely worth a try, I keep meaning to get that because I want to watch Only Murders in the Building. Another option is Now TV.

Many have free trials so you can sign up and have a good look at what's available and only carry on if it suits you. Plus for Now TV at least, if you sign up and cancel, there are good offers to continue. We've had it on and off for years and never paid more than half the standard price.

We've only ever really had Prime when I've wanted to watch Clarkson's Farm and the Grand Tour, with the added bonus of free Amazon delivery, but otherwise, it seems really limited, with a lot of the content costing extra above the subscription.

GoldenLyonel · 08/09/2024 07:03

Just turn off the Netflix sub while you’re not watching / interested in anything, and re-sub if you miss it or want to watch something.

menopausalmare · 08/09/2024 07:06

We rotate subscriptions so we have 1-2 on the go at a time.

TwinklyNight · 08/09/2024 07:16

Prime.

HelenWheels · 08/09/2024 07:19

prime is quite disappointing.
i would see what i wanted to see and then cancel

RhaenysRocks · 08/09/2024 07:21

Now TV is quite good. It gives you different packages, like movies , entertainment, sport etc separately. It's basically sky.

Blarn · 08/09/2024 07:26

Prime is a waste of time, we only have it as the dc have the kids Fires so we pay it fr the subscription for those. Would not bother otherwise. So much on there isn't actually included in the subscription. I was enjoying the Marvellous Mrs Maisel but got really annoyed with the adverts on something we were already paying for so left it.

We have Netflix and watch the films and enjoy the documentaries they have.

JaninaDuszejko · 08/09/2024 07:28

Well we have Netflix, Disney Plus and Prime. I watch mainly iplayer, then Netflix and Disney Plus and Prime once in a blue moon. The kids like Disney Plus but mainly for Percy Jackson, I'm annoyed at them because inside out 2 still isn't available on Disney Plus (you can rent it on Prime). We should rest Disney Plus and Prime for a few months but they are DH's accounts and he hasn't done it.

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 08/09/2024 07:29

Disney plus is the one I would pay for, but then my kids are primay age. I agree with pp that rotating is a good idea.

DoublePeonies · 08/09/2024 07:31

If I had to only have 1, it would be prime for the delivery that comes with it as well.

But all of they go through phases of being decent and having nothing I want to watch on - right now everything seems to have nothing!

woolflower · 08/09/2024 07:32

Depends on what you like and how much TV you watch.

If I had to pick one it would be Apple TV. Lots of real good dramas and comedies, not much reality TV. There is less on there but what is on there is really high quality.

GoogleWhacking · 08/09/2024 07:35

I find the interface on Disney+ very shit. It is basically unusable to me. Prime I have but hardly watch, I just try to view it as a perk for having free delivery. Netflix is rubbish recently, has been for a while but the kids watch it so I've kept it. Apple has some great stuff. I'm watching Slow Horses at the moment, and waiting for the next seasons of Silo and Bad Sisters. I originally got it for Ted Lasso but kept it as part of a family plan and they do have some great stuff on there, intermittently.

HelenWheels · 08/09/2024 07:50

agree with Disney +,
the boxes are far too small,
cannot read the programmes

cherrysonata · 08/09/2024 07:51

Apple.

DeathMetalMum · 08/09/2024 08:23

Disney plus here, we've watched Bones, Only Murders in the Building, The Americans and currently watching Criminal minds. We have watched other series/films too.

We enjoy marvel stuff so have watched a lot of their series, and dp likes Star Wars so also watched a lot of that content.

We haven't had netflix for over 18 months and haven't missed it. We have had a free trial of Apple TV but didn't find much to watch, and have prime at the moment but don't watch much on there. We do have a promotion of Now TV movies at the moment for 2.99 a month which is due to run out but we will cancel and they will send us a new off in a few months time.

Solonga · 08/09/2024 08:31

I pause Netflix for a month or two, Apple is the best though not a big catalogue, Prime I have anyway for the delivery and I use my Clubcard points for Disney+, Paramount comes with Sky but probably only worth getting for a month if you don't have Sky

You would do better to have a 1 - 3 of months of each in turn, watch everything you want rather than just use Netflix constantly

unsync · 08/09/2024 08:39

We have Paramount+. If you wait until Cyber Monday, it usually goes 1/2 price for an annual subscription, around £34. If you like sci-fi, crime dramas and Yellowstone its great. They have Buffy on too which is a bonus. We are working our way through the Star Trek universe again currently.

theresabluebirdinmyheart · 08/09/2024 08:40

Apple is good… get the free trial for Slow Horses and Blackbird alone!
I only have Prime for the delivery service, anything decent on it you seem to have to pay extra for.
i only have Disney for the kids.

WobblyLondoner · 08/09/2024 08:46

We switch around depending on what we want to see. Just got Prime for the lord of the rings prequel nonsense (DP) but willl cancel when that’s over. Dropped Netflix as we weren’t using it enough. Apple to watch slow horses but have kept going with it as are also enjoying Ted Lasso.

In a nutshell, we move around - but I do keep an eye on it and cancel as otherwise it really adds up (as we also have a Sky package).
