Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Dd1's awake too so I've made her one but she's not come down for it yet 🤷‍♀️ . The kittens are upstairs somewhere, probably causing chaos, after breakfast although I can't hear them. Dd2's still sock on, she's been knackered after her first couple of days back at school.

I don't think we're doing much of anything today. There's a local-ish event on a large park but the weather forecast looks rubbish & it's grey outside so I'm not sure either of the girls will fancy it. I'll give it an hour & then see what they say.

If not, there's plenty to do here - I have a bag of homeless things to either find homes for, or chuck, & have been working my way through all the drawers/cupboards clearing & cleaning. Plus the usual washing uniform, checking homework's done, general housework.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good Morning!

Much the same as last week - getting the house reset for autumn.

Might do some baking this afternoon...

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 07/09/2024 09:06

Waiting for my colleague to drop by as I accidentally took the work debit card home yesterday and by the time I realised it was pouring with rain and I was already in my pyjamas.

I’m also digging up lavender in my front garden because it’s woody and rank and the bees have now finished with it. Going to dig everything up and start again.

CalicoPusscat · 07/09/2024 09:15

Not best pleased, can't eat or drink until 3pm...and all I want is a cup of tea.

Showering soon, sometimes it doesn't feel worth it when you step outside the front door and get rained on.

Simonjt · 07/09/2024 09:17

Good morning, we’re going to an event at the science musuem later, the museum is call Tom Tits which my childish brain is struggling to cope with.

Its warm again here, 25° so we’ll probably go to the splash park afterwards as it won’t be warm enough to stay open in a few weeks. We’ve had an unusually long summer, normally days like this end in mid August.

I hope you all have a nice Saturday.

Clingfilm · 07/09/2024 09:19

Was hoping to plant some bulbs but it's very, very wet here and I'm under the weather anyway.

Everyone else is out today so I'll
probably do as much cleaning as I can manage as the house feels grubby after the school hols.

Mammma91 · 07/09/2024 09:20

Good morning. It’s a long weekend here as it’s a bank holiday Monday. Eldest is sitting with breakfast, baby is napping and I’ve just spilled a whole cup of hot coffee all over the floor. Thankfully it’s laminate and my eldest helped me clean up. Today is a day for housework and a clear out as we’re moving really soon. Hope you all have a lovely Saturday!

Singleandproud · 07/09/2024 09:20

I'm going to for a walk along the beach and then a Morrisons trip for the food shop. Teen DD is exhausted from school this week so will pick up some of her favourite bits.

Also going to the uniform shop, to pick her up a new blazer and jumper I always do the uniform refresh shop in September instead of standing in the massive que in the summer holidays

Then I'm having a big clothes clear out and declutter.

ViciousCurrentBun · 07/09/2024 09:21

I’m going to a battle reenactment and open air military encampment event.

BCBird · 07/09/2024 09:22

Morning. Dull and grey here in Central England. I've been planning some lessons, been to.osteopath and am about to.go.back to.my slimming class after a summer of excess. Not pleasant. Later will do a bit more work, make some soup, stretch my.legs and read my book. Exhausted after first week back at work. Have a good day everyone

Sounds awesome! Where are you?

BulldogMumma · 07/09/2024 09:26

I'm enjoying a lazy morning after being back at work this week. Not much planned for the day I'll see what dd wants to do.
Tonight will be tv and probably a glass of wine. Hope you all have a lovely day

PermanentTemporary · 07/09/2024 09:30

Morning. Enjoying coffee and wordle in bed, had a great night's sleep which is increasingly rare. Off to the vet with a cat soon, then out to pick up a Diamond Anniversary cake. We're out to tea for said Anniversary later. Then ds is back from holiday this evening. So a nice day.

VictorianScreenTime · 07/09/2024 09:41

Morning all! I’ve cleaned out the guinea pigs and had some brekkie. Kids are pottering and I’m just lazing. There’s lovely cool autumn air coming in the slightly open window and I can hear birds singing.

It's forecast to get really warm and sunny later so we might hit the beach for one final summery visit and then back home to collect apples and the last of the blackberries and make some more hedgerow jams and jellies.

I’m planning to wash and fold summery clothes and move them to the top shelves at some point so that the woolly jumpers and tights can step forward again.

I love your “autumn reset” phrase @BellaBobbins - that’s what I’ll call this weekend!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 07/09/2024 09:46

Good morning*@lucysmam and others. It's pretty grey here too. I'm hoping it will burn off later. I have had two coffees and a cuppa with a slice of toast to keep me going. I've had a shower, stripped the bed and it's in the washing machine. The dishwasher is on at the moment. Soon I'm heading out for coffee and cake with a friend. We will talk for at least two hours if not more. She is a former colleague and I look forward to hearing about the school and the department to make me enjoy retirement more! Later I'll get the bedding dried, either on the line or in the tumble dryer depending on the weather. I'll take something out of the freezer for dinner or make pasta or use up some salad stuff. Enjoy your day

Catwill · 07/09/2024 09:47

Morning all! Have been a lurker on this thread for too long. Really enjoy reading it on weekend mornings. Just having a cuppa and a pancake then it'll be usual Saturday morning bathroom cleaning before taking DD1 to swimming lessons. We're toying with getting a garden room to use as an office for wfh (and so the new puppy can sit with us while we're working!), so off to have a first look at those today.

Debtfreeme · 07/09/2024 09:48

Just finished a night shift so having a couple of hours, then autumn reset 😂 the house needs it. Gym later, bit of reading then early night. Off for one then back it tomorrow 🙈🙈

familyissues12345 · 07/09/2024 09:51

Morning! I love these threads Grin

A quiet one here today, nipping out to buy some new jeans later as all of mine have decided to split at the same time Hmm, then back to a lazy afternoon. Might whizz the hoover round if I can be bothered (can't currently!)

Take away tonight!

VioletIndigoBlueGreen · 07/09/2024 09:52

Unexpectedly foggy here, so my laundry and gardening plans are out the window. DH has taken DS to a music rehearsal and I'll need to pick him up this afternoon.

I'm waiting for a delivery of lovely new boots (sometime before 11:08!) and trying to muster the enthusiasm to clean the kitchen.

I had a good clear out of summer clothes to the charity shop earlier in the week, so will do a bit more tidying of other things in an "autumn reset" way!

Otherwise, my plan involves cups of tea and a good book!

Rorymyers · 07/09/2024 09:52

Would looove to go out for a walk and then some nice alone time breakfast but I have to give DS (2 years old) his breakfast and then play with him and clean the house while he naps. So boring breakfast it is.

actually would love tips to spice up my breakfasts/brunch’s as I know I will end up with toast and a cuppa. I hate cold food so nothing cold. 🤗

Thislittlekitten · 07/09/2024 10:00

Morning all. Been up for a bit with the dog and pottering about but just having breakfast now.

DH is away to collect our new furniture. DD is still
in bed. DS is away at friends and D cats and dog asleep. Lovey and peaceful.

I need to pop into town today and the whole house needs cleaned after being neglected this week due to work.
First will have a cup of tea in the garden.

Singleandproud · 07/09/2024 10:05

@Rorymyers perfect time to get the porridge on, table spoon of apple sauce, peanut butter and cinnamon.

I do it as overnight oats and make a couple of days worth then either have it cold or zap it in the microwave.

As it's now September I'm going to make a batch of spiced apple juice for the fridge so I can add it to hot water for an autumnal drink whilst WFH next week now the weather is starting to cool.

Iamnotaloggrip · 07/09/2024 10:05

Morning all. I’ve already been to the shop and about to get a chicken casserole in the slow cooker for later. DD is at her gymnastics class, DS is doing his homework. DP is working.

Bike ride this aft while kids spent time with their grandparents.

Have a lovely day all!

VictorianScreenTime · 07/09/2024 10:08

@Rorymyers I made sausage rolls the other day with turkey mince and sun dried tomatoes in and they are delicious! Have a bunch in the freezer so I can stick them in the oven from frozen for 40 mins or so. Perfect snacky breakfast/brunch food.

Also agree with @Singleandproud re porridge- I made some spiced apple syrup the other day (accidentally as it was meant to be jelly and didn’t set) and it is divine as a porridge sweetener!

Singleandproud · 07/09/2024 10:14

@Rorymyers if you do make overnight oats, I've found repurposing pasta sauce jars the perfect vessel, they line up in the fridge and take up far less room than the plastic containers I used to use and you'll get two portions in a large one so great for you and DC, just tip into sauce pan or bowl for microwaving.

ButtonMoonMrsSpoon · 07/09/2024 10:15

Today I need to try and finish the book I've been assigned as I start college Monday. I also need to get on with doing the care certificate so I can start my part time job to bring in extra money as I had to give up work recently to become a carer and I've taken a huge financial hit.
My DH is ill so no doubt will be in bed all weekend and trying to wake him up after taking morphine is a nightmare but he needs regular meds.
Will take the dogs out for a walk soon and give myself half hour to breathe.
Friend wants to go for a drink later and I promised but all I can think is I've got no money, got homework and sick DH and it's the last thing I feel like doing.
My head is full of all the stuff I need to do and I'm willing myself to start.
I'm looking forward to college though, I'm 42 and hoping to go to uni after and get myself a career change instead of always being stuck in dead end jobs.
Have a great day everyone x
