I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Dd1's awake too so I've made her one but she's not come down for it yet 🤷‍♀️ . The kittens are upstairs somewhere, probably causing chaos, after breakfast although I can't hear them. Dd2's still sock on, she's been knackered after her first couple of days back at school.

I don't think we're doing much of anything today. There's a local-ish event on a large park but the weather forecast looks rubbish & it's grey outside so I'm not sure either of the girls will fancy it. I'll give it an hour & then see what they say.

If not, there's plenty to do here - I have a bag of homeless things to either find homes for, or chuck, & have been working my way through all the drawers/cupboards clearing & cleaning. Plus the usual washing uniform, checking homework's done, general housework.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning all, I've missed these threads for weeks but finally have a Saturday morning where I'm not rushing about.

DH coaches a girls football team and they have a match this morning so he's gone up to the club to set the pitch up. It's the first game of the new season so he's looking forward to getting back into the routine of it all and seeing how his girls develop their football this season.

DS1 is in bed, DS2 is playing a game on my old phone and providing a running commentary with a lot of questions directed at me. I'm not really sure what he's talking about but it is incessant. Dog is flat out on the floor hoping for some peace and quiet I think.

Just had tea and toast and I'm going to tackle the housework, the house is in a state after the summer hols so I want to get some cleaning done whilst DH is out. Love the idea of an autumn reset.

We have a birthday bbq this afternoon at a friends' house, so I've got about 3 hours to get stuff done! It's very foggy here so hoping it clears later for the bbq. Hope everyone has a fab day Grin

I've been for my run and had coffee and porridge, unloaded and loaded the dishwasher and tidied the kitchen.
Dh is at work, I'm buying Uni stuff with ds1 today - we were going to IKEA but he's decided he hates IKEA and doesn't want to, so online shopping it is. I'm a bit disappointed, but the idea is probably nicer than the reality, and it's an hours drive away anyway.
I've also got school work to do, but would much rather lollop about finishing my book.
Ds1 is at work later too, and I think ds2 has plans to go over to his girlfriend's, so it will be me and Dh on the sofa with an episode of something tonight, getting into practice as empty nesters.

I’m spending far too much of this morning scrolling MN, have a big to do list. But I’ve had a busy few days so trying to allow myself that and not give airtime to the ‘stop being lazy’ voice.

That said, the poor dog needs walked so I think I will Lycra up and make it a short run. Then got various diy tasks on the list while kids are not here. I plan to make some delicious cheesy sun dried tomato bean dish I saw online, later.

Morning @lucysmam and all happy Saturday.
Parkrun this morning managed to shave 30 seconds off my personal best time so am ecstatic with that.
Just had breakfast and one load of washing done.
I'm going to collect the programme for the London Film Festival later so I can work what I want to see before booking opens next week.
Some housework later and a lazy evening.
Have a great day everyone.

@ButtonMoonMrsSpoon that's a lot of plates to be spinning, could friend come to yours for a drink it'll be cheaper and means you don't have to spend time getting dressed up if you would have done. DH might like another person in the house to chat to too if he is pretty much bed bound now

MillionaireCaramel · 07/09/2024 10:31

Morning everyone. We were at my neighbours for drinks last night and I had one more glass of wine than I needed so dragging my feet a bit this morning. I've had a coffee and will get in the shower soon. I'm going to get my hair done later and then we're out for tea for my mum's birthday. Have a good day all

ShipshapeShore · 07/09/2024 10:36

We're off to another city after lunch for a relatives party tomorrow. Staying over tonight which seemed like a good idea when we booked the hotel but now I can't be bothered to pack our overnight bags - I just want to drink tea and finish A Court of Wings and Ruin!

It's drizzling and almost dark here, we've got the lamps on. I want to take snuggly knits with me but I know it's actually going to be warm and it's hurting my brain!

@Singleandproud, I know, I normally thrive on pressure but it's been a hectic few months with DH being ill.
Asking friend here is a good idea although she will happily sit here til early hours and if I go to her I can keep it to a few hours, hmm, will have a think on that one.
It's odd how life turns out. It's knowing that I am likely to be the only breadwinner now that has given me the push to re train. Always a reason before why I couldn't do it, mostly financial but now I'm broke anyway so I might as well remain broke and at the end of it have a new career that I will have worked hard to get. Morning all. Missed these threads for a few weeks.

DC are with their dad this weekend. I've had an awful week at work with news of redundancies. My period arrived overnight so I am spending this weekend doing lots of cooking with the thousands of apples in my back garden. Bought some jars so I am currently making spiced apple chutney for everyone's Christmas presents.
I've discovered loads of blackberries so I'm going to make apple and blackberry jam yet.

Some lovely Mumsnetters recommended trying Christmas pudding so I think I'll add that to the list.

Feeling a bit lonely and crap so will hopefully catch up with some friends this evening and tomorrow.

Have a lovely weekend everyone x

PandaChopChop · 07/09/2024 10:48

I should probably be dressing up my CV and my LinkedIn but I've got no energy for it. Apples 🤣

Andnowshesatoddler · 07/09/2024 10:55

The weather is foul here, we've just been for some thick PJS for my daughter.

Going to browse for a new wedding ring later unfortunately as it's expensive/fortunately as I had my daughter... I am a different shape to when I got married and can't get it over my knuckle anymore big weeding anniversary this autumn so a new upgrade.

Fahran · 07/09/2024 11:00

It’s no longer morning where I am but after a dip I spent it sat by a flat calm sea sipping coffee and reading a book. I’m now lying by the sea reading a book.

Bugbeau · 07/09/2024 11:01

Son and DH are at a DS first football match of the season (apparently it’s not going well). About to take DD to an acro class try out. Then I will prob go to the sports shop as need to pick up bits for the start of hockey season tmrw and then hopefully chill for the rest of the day.

TheChosenTwo · 07/09/2024 11:03

I was up and out at the supermarket at 8, home to a bacon roll, dh made them as he was getting ds sorted before taking him to football.
im in bed watching a bit of telly now 😂
My dad is coming round a bit later, we’ll probably go for a walk and lunch, then this evening dh and ds are going to watch football and I’m going to a friends for a takeaway as it’s her birthday. Lovely Saturday!

Eggsley · 07/09/2024 11:17

I've been cleaning for an hour and only done the hall. It's not a big hall but I have washed all the skirting boards and doors so doing a proper deep clean. Embarrassingly I don't think it's been done properly more than once or twice since we moved in a looong time ago. The dog has barked at me the whole time as he's so unused to seeing anyone cleaning Blush Stopped for a quick catch up on here and some water (am trying to drink 3 Stanley size cups a day) and now going to tackle the downstairs loo. It's a drop in the ocean but better than nothing I guess!

Pippatpip · 07/09/2024 11:18

Morning all. Walked the dog for over an hour at 7 this morning. Met a fellow dog walker and chatted to him so nice. Sad that another favourite dog walking duo are going to leave the area. Then had my shower and put a wash on. After a cuppa we've just picked up drain cleaner and some stuff from town. Drains now have stuff down. My sinuses are hurting, glands are up and not feeling great so using this as an excuse not to do the dusting! Later will drop husband off to play for a wedding and then we will go and play boules later. Methinks it may be wine night to have with fish pie.

Crunchymum · 07/09/2024 11:37

Morning all,

Just back from swimming lessons and library. Going to sort out some washing and get lunch sorted.

We're off bowling later for my Niece's birthday. There'll be cake and nibbles. I have Pizza Express Pizza's and doughballs (with salad, coleslaw and potato salad) for dinner.

Kids have agreed on "The Meg" for their film this evening.

gingercat02 · 07/09/2024 11:47

Morning (just) @lucysmam
There's not a lot going on here. I slept really badly, so I was up early. Breakfast dishwasher and a load of washing on. Dance class.

Was supposed to be going to the local Scarecrow festival with my mum this afternoon, but the weather is horrid, foggy, and damp, so we may not go.

DS is going to a friend's tonight, so DH and I will have something he doesn't like for tea, carbonara/risotto/salmon, probably.

We have had a busy week, so a bit of downtime will do us all good.

ssd · 07/09/2024 11:54

I'm working today but the shop isn't too busy so far

Giggorata · 07/09/2024 11:59

Good morning (just) lucysmam and all,
DH let me sleep very late this morning as I binge watched Dirk Gently last night. What a dull day it is, and likely to continue.
We've just had the shed roof done and there is a load of old felting (and spiders) to clear out from the upper storey. Well, that's not going to happen today, so my plans of shifting tools, paint and general stuff up there are still on hold. Sigh.
So I will give the bedrooms a good doing instead and carry on with the grand clear out.
Salmon pasta bake for dinner tonight.

Peridot1 · 07/09/2024 12:00

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. Just!

I’ve been up ages but we had to take the dog to the vet for her monthly jab earlier and it’s thrown my morning. I’ve had tea and toast for breakfast and emptied the dishwasher and did a load of washing.

We had some new display/storage cabinets built in our dining area and they are almost finished. Enough for me to clean them and starting putting stuff into them but I’m not sure I have the energy. I think I’m coming down with a cold. So a lazy afternoon with my book maybe the plan.

the weather is depressing me too. I’m not ready for autumn yet. Was hoping for a few more days of sunshine and warmth.

Going into our neighbours for dinner later which will be nice.

Soccermumamir · 07/09/2024 12:01

Morning, nearly afternoon lol
I've just had my 3rd cup of coffee. Ds1 has taken ds2 to get his hair cut. (School photo next Tuesday) 🤦‍♀️ OH has popped out to grab some goodies for film night later, and I've just finished cleaning the bedrooms. I'm shattered after my first week back at work after summer.
So, putting feet up for the rest of the day. My Uni books have arrived, so will skim over them later 🙂 Hope everyone has a good day 😊

Yeahnoforsure · 07/09/2024 12:08

Good afternoon @lucysmam and all. Grey skies; damp, cool and drizzly here; not inspired to clean or cook, but will likely end up doing both, eventually. Nice to read what others are up to today though. @ButtonMoonMrsSpoon you have a lot of stuff on your plate today, and most days it sounds like. Hope you get it all done, and have a bit of time to yourself. Good for you for setting in place your goal; you sound like an amazing person; stay strong and determined, you'll get through it.

inthekitchensink · 07/09/2024 12:08

I slept far too late, but I’m grieving the loss of both parents in the last few months and feel totally exhausted. DH has taken DD out for the day so I might go for a swim and then sit quietly in my mum’s house for a bit. Think about redecorating then panic and feel overwhelmed and sad.
Then make a cottage pie.
Each day is long and brutal at the moment.

Andnowshesatoddler · 07/09/2024 12:47

@inthekitchensink I'm so sorry please be kind to yourself.
