I think it was the assault rifle and assorted gun related paraphernalia that gave rise to suspicion that all was not well.

I am glad no one was hurt, another reason to have gun control and glad we have it in the UK.

I don't understand this latest "assassination attempt". It seems the suspect was on the interstate near the golf course. Nowhere near trump really. What makes them think it was an assassination attempt?

And is Farage on his way over to be in the same country waving at someone who barely recognises him right there offering his shoulder for Trump to lean on?

Apparently the secret service were scouting the golf hole ahead and they saw a gun barrel pointing out of the bushes. They fired. The man drove off and he was later apprehended. It could have been very bad.

Thanks - I'd missed that bit!

It was only reported this morning that it happened like that zonder.

Yesterday was just someone had been arrested after a possible foiled assignation attempt.

Be interesting if their changes Trumps stance on a right to bear arms. It could mean he doubles down or wants more control.

Knowing Trump - he'll probably call for all golf caddies to be armed.

prettybird · 16/09/2024 10:28

Trump will say it's only because his Security Security agents were able to shoot at him and scare him off that the attempt was foiled Hmm

Plus the fact that a convenient passerby was able to photograph the getaway car. Hmm

This made me laugh way than it should have😂

I believe he's in Kuala Lumpur.

Time for Farage to put up or shut up

“The time has come for Farage, Tice and the handful of members that now make up the parliamentary ‘Reform’ pressure group to put up or shut up” says the ‘Grandfather of the House’ Sir Roger Gale. 1/4

That's an area of Clacton I don't know....

What did the poor Malaysians do to deserve that?

DuncinToffee · 16/09/2024 14:16

I don't think there are a lot of Clacton residents interested in this

Farage is listed as a speaker at the Nomad Capitalist Summit in Kuala Lumpur: “the world’s foremost gathering of global citizens discussing second citizenship, legal offshore tax strategies, international investing, and the Nomad Capitalist lifestyle”

Yes. Full time ones I suspect.

There's another "are you glad you voted Labour" thread running. Several about the clothes donations. It is getting really boring and I don't think I can be bothered with them now!

Notonthestairs · 16/09/2024 19:14

BREAKING: Junior doctors accept 22% pay rise over two years to end their long-running dispute, which saw them take party in eleven separate strikes.

Includes 4% backdated pay rise for 2023/24, plus existing 9% average increase, and 8% for 2024/5.

Good news.

DuncinToffee · 16/09/2024 19:19

The govt agrees 'junior doctor' will change to 'resident doctor' from Wednesday.

The BMA has opposed the term, claiming it doesn't reflect the experience of doctors with 8+ years in the field

Strikes in the NHS is estimated to have cost taxpayers around £1.7bn during 2023/24

Prime Minister Keir Starmer won't be investigated by the parliamentary commissioner for standards over his late declaration of clothes given to his wife Victoria by Labour donor Lord Alli

I've been deleted several times, mostly for obvious troll hunting. I try to avoid doing that these days, although don't always succeed!

I've been banned once, which made me absolutely furious. MN had decided to partner with a company that was launching a 'breastfeeding biscuit', which had no more helpful nutrition than a straightforward digestive. In the thread, started by someone from MNHQ, I posted 'what the actual fuck do you think you're doing, MNHQ?' or words to that effect. And that got me not just deleted but also banned for a PA. All of which was rather awkward because that very day I was kicking off a new Bootcamp!

I remember that. It was mad!

I imagine that is because they raised it as an issue in the first place.
