Because the information in the public domain is that her mother worked for her brothers forklift truck company. That doesn't appear to be a particularly lucrative job, suggesting Charlotte's family has money from elsewhere as she went to private school. There's nothing about her father.

And from that you have deduced that Charlotte Owen must be Boris Johnson's secret love child?

No. I was originally responding to you saying it was obvious there wasn't a super injunction.

Clearly there are some restrictions on reporting about her because information is so limited about her background, why she got a peerage and such important political contacts.

I have no idea if the restrictions are related directly to her or to her family. But it is very fishy.

It's very interesting the topics that cause you to pop out of lurking though Clav. I really wouldn't have though a discussion about peerages and twitter rumours would be any more interesting than all the other debates we have.

Apparently my babies are doing well at the cattery.

That’s good. If you’re anything like me you’re really missing them.

I really am. I'm having a lovely time in Malta and turning a delightful shade of mahogany, but I really miss them.

Oh good, you’ve obviously got fabulous weather. Please tell it to stay that way next month!

I will. It's been brilliant apart from a few spots of rain yesterday afternoon. It's forecast to rain on Monday, the day before I go home.

That's probably because I don't read all of the discussions you have (I'm not sure I would call them debates).

Since the election I'm assuming you must be bored, which might be why you've ended up here. Never mind. You'll soon have a leadership election to focus on.

As far as I can see, her published expenses (to March 2024) add up to around £30,000 (over 9 months).

Better Earth was founded by former Tory MP Chris Skidmore -

The former prime minister has announced he will join ex-net zero tsar Chris Skidmore’s company, Better Earth -

https://www.independent.co.uk/climate-change/news/boris-johnson-chris-skidmore-downing-street-climate-change-committee-british-b2537895.html

Charlotte Owen's Wikipedia page states she worked for Alok Sharma for seven months and I see that she attended COP28 at the end of last year - perhaps Alok Sharma introduced her to Chris Skidmore?

30 fucking grand of our money

I'm unsure what her employment is adding. Personally think its quite shady she's VP of a company set up by an MP, where the MP who made her a lord also works. It's all a bit "jobs for the boys"Confused.

With the development of SNRs ( small nuclear reactors ) there are a few new companies popping up in that space , NewClo for one attracting a lot of investment.

Boris and his mates possibly wanting to cash in on that.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 07/09/2024 08:07

The tories seem to be obsessed with small nuclear reactors but don't seem to understand that investment is into research, not into producing them. His professional opinion is that it'll be 30 - 40 years before they reach the production stage, and it's not a given that they ever will. He said the Americans gave up their development programme as they felt it couldn't continue due to safety. The Chinese, who can build entire cities by teatime, have been trying to build one for 15 years and think/hope they'll have success within the next decade.

Zonder · 07/09/2024 08:09

That's really interesting @MrTiddlesTheCat so another great project of Johnson's!

Tugenhat was on the news ages ago wittering on about how Rolls Royce had one ready to go. They just needed money to be released from the treasury to buy them. That's when DH said they were talking nonsense. Rolls Royce have a theoretical plan but were seeking investment to research their plan. Nothing had been built and if they got the investment it'd be many years before they even got to prototype stage.

(For those that don't know DH is a professor of nuclear chemistry.)

Zonder · 07/09/2024 08:45

Just goes to show how much they pull the wool over people's eyes and prefer not to have experts getting in the way.

SerendipityJane · 07/09/2024 09:00

It's a natural law that nature abhors a vacuum.

Meanwhile, prompted with a series of suggestions, ChatGPT came up with "Bleak House" as some light weekend reading.

Thick as mince, obviously, but with a view of so much data to relate. (Gets Kindle out).

I'd like to know who they should blame for what's happened under the previous government before they took over?

I mean he could blame his Gran, or his old NDN? Or even the family pet.

Perhaps he could blame his children?

The same way the Tories (rightly) held the previous Labour government to account for mistakes they made.

Holding people to account for their mistakes Ypsilanti be encouraged - not made to seem like something wrong.

Exactly. How long have they been droning on about the note at the Treasury? There was still whinging about it in the run up to the election. But apparently it’s Labour that has double standards. And the hypocrisy about cronyism …
