Do you burn candles in daylight?

I visited a friend earlier who had a scented candle burning. Her house smelt lovely but I would never have thought of lighting one before dusk.

Do you?

Yes I do a lot. Or I’ll have a wax melt on the go.

Allnewtometoo · 31/08/2024 17:26

Yes, I've got 2 on now.

GigiAnnna · 31/08/2024 17:27

Yes, when the kids are at school and I've done all my housework I will light a candle for the scent. I also like incense. Although it is more likely I'll do this during Autumn/ Winter months when it's a bit more cosy.

I have a candle on the go all day as I’m working. Always Diptyque. At the moment I am burning Citronelle. It keeps the flies out too.

Durdledore · 31/08/2024 17:32

Yes; for the fragrance, not the soft lighting. I WFH and it’s one way to help me feel motivated to work alone.

Dotto · 31/08/2024 17:33

I'd like to do this more, but is it not carcinogenic?

Underlig · 31/08/2024 17:36

No, I rarely use candles. They’re carcinogenic.

KateDelRick · 31/08/2024 17:37

All the time! I often light one when I get up, to impart and lovely smell. I don't use them for lighting.

Same! Different scents for different tasks as well.

Lndnmummy · 31/08/2024 17:38

Yes all the time. In the country I am from people have candles all the time (very dark in winter).

Babychewtoy · 31/08/2024 17:38

I used to burn candles and yes would burn them in daylight. I don’t anymore once I started thinking about what I was actually breathing in.

The scented candles? Of course I light them in daylight. The point of them is for the nice fragrance, not to give you light! Confused

OldTinHat · 31/08/2024 17:43

I'm sitting next to one that I lit earlier this afternoon.

DollopOfFun · 31/08/2024 17:45

Yes- I use them for scent-ing, not lighting!

Judellie · 31/08/2024 17:53

No, but I detest candles.

murasaki · 31/08/2024 17:54

Citronella tealights to keep the flies out during the days in summer. It seems to work and I like the smell.

spikeandbuffy24 · 31/08/2024 17:56

Yep. Got a wax melt on today

KateDelRick · 31/08/2024 17:57

Citronella is brilliant for keeping insects out. I like the smell, too.

Crabwoman · 31/08/2024 17:59

Yes

EternallyDelighted · 31/08/2024 18:00

Yes, I only burn them for the fragrance not the light.

bryceQ · 31/08/2024 18:05

Yes all the time. Usually have wax melts in the burner in the kitchen all day. I like lots of fragrance

soberfabulous · 31/08/2024 18:13

All day long. It's especially important to me when I WFH. I have day and night candles depending on their scent ❤️

Meadowfinch · 31/08/2024 18:22

No, I'd rather have rain forest than palm plantations

KATHSTYLE · 31/08/2024 18:24

Yes. They give a nice relaxed mood.

I buy cheap tea lights and put them in a pretty tea light holder - they're about 2p each.

I use a plug in electric oil diffuser to make the house smell nice

Bambooshoot · 31/08/2024 18:24

No, that would seem really odd.
