How the fuck is this going to happen (oasis)

pollypocet · 29/08/2024 21:46

Myself and dh would love to go next year. As would most of the country I'm guessing ha ! The last concert I went to was Britney when I was 10 so I'm new to ticketmaster. Just reading through some threads on Reddit and I'm seriously thinking how the fuck are we even going to be in with a chance of getting tickets with the lengths some people go to?! Multiple devices, different WiFi connections, different sites etc etc
Why can't it just be simple ?? I know it's probably not going to happen for us but it does make me sad, Oasis wasn't my era, I was a child in the 90's but I do love their music and would love to see them live !

The only "gig" I have ever enjoyed at Heaton Park was the proms, which they had up by the hall and was very sedate, not crowded and everyone brought chairs and picnics.

Everything else there is hellish. Even bonfire night we gave up on and watched from the Ostrich's beer garden instead.

It's always either an absolute mud bath or sunburn central or both.

Good luck to everyone trying for tickets! Go prepared!

Not really, I could have used Take That or the PSB, or Pink but it's just she was playing on the radio as I was writing this so she was the first one to pop in my head.
Yes I do use gig and concert differently, even if the venue is the same and nearly all GIGS I've been to, there's piss. Seems we both can use the words in an incorrect way to the dictionary definition, but that's life.

You really do seem to think you're like an authority on live music judging by the attitude you have.

And?

I really have been to see a LOT of bands. It was my life for many many years. I made a lot of friends from it.

I have an attitude on this particular one because I was very jaded by some of it. Very very jaded.

I really do think it's going to end up with a lot of upset people and I do think loads of this was foreseeable. There are better ways to roll out a fan presale.

Already there's huge amount of confusion and it'll be a constant 'have you got your presale ballot code?' and 'whens the presale start?' all day.

I hope I'm wrong and it all goes well. But yeah...

It's not complex, you try to buy tickets by using the internet, like almost everything else these days.

I was a massive fan, saw them many times, not bothered now but good luck to those who want to see them and I hope they enjoy themselves.

But it's being made complex by the demand and the lengths people go to to try and secure tickets quickly. For someone like me who has never ever bought any tickets online so a complete newbie to the system and add the fact I'm autistic and struggle to process all the instructions on how to be in with a chance, then it's a massive head fuck

@pollypocet I know lots of us are saying we wouldn't bother, but in seriousness if you really want to see them, I hope you get tickets.

I used to be a big gig/concert goer with my late sister and just wish we'd got round all the bands she wanted to see before she passed away too. My dad was a huge Rolling Stones fan and I wish we'd managed to take him to see them one last time, but the cancer got him a few months before we were due to go.

Definitely snap up every opportunity!

Summernightsinthe21stcentury · 30/08/2024 09:21

@RedToothBrush
It is really clear from their twitter account.
There was a lot more interest in the presale than expected and they have delayed the ballot till later than expected
If you are successful in the ballot you will get a code for the presale by email by 5pm today. This presale will take place before the general sale tomorrow at 9 am.
Keep an eye on their twitter account for any updates.
I am a 50 year old woman and I am not going to fall apart of I don't get tickets.
This not a Sabrina Carpenter situation where the buyers are 12.
Also I am 100% confident there are more dates to be announced so plenty of opportunity.

Look out for the comps too if you don't get them. Radio stations have some running and one FB places like Rev Comps have advertised ticket prize draws.

Is there anyone who can sit with you and help you. The process SHOULD be simple, but it's the use of bot software nowadays that makes getting through harder but not impossible.

Lovewine1975 · 30/08/2024 09:26

Saw Oasis at Knebworth they were good but thought Prodigy were bloody amazing, then saw them again at Milton Keynes and had a great time!
Want to get tickets for me and my DH on Saturday he has loved Oasis forever but never seen them or been to a concert so it would be amazing to go together.

I've applied for the pre-sale ballot but so far no code, gonna go on Ticketmaster and Gigs & Tours tomorrow morning, someone said you should log on at like 7am to get in the queue to wait for 9am. I'm 49 and this makes me feel so old and stressed about buying tickets, I've not bought any for years and its changed so much

Lovewine1975 · 30/08/2024 09:31

@WalterHWhite due to demand they have extended the deadline to 7pm tonight, I'm constantly checking my email to see if I get one!

There speaks someone who doesn't 'get it'.

pollypocet · 30/08/2024 09:46

@Demonhunter I will be okay I think aslong as I have simple broken down instructions. It's the refresh part that's throwing me, some are saying to refresh the page at 8.30, others are saying don't refresh etc
Then its the whole WiFi data thing different devices

Wow

greengreyblue · 30/08/2024 09:48

I’m going to try. Oasis are my era and I go to lots of gigs. But I’m not paying more than £125 IF I get a chance.

VanGoghsDog · 30/08/2024 09:48

Portaloos hire companies recommend calculating less portaloos per head for men than women due to time in the toilet, so if you have a male heavy crowd there's less toilet provision which I don't think helps either.

They do use this as a benchmark in theory, but they don't actually know how many men and/or women are attending, do they, so in reality they base the decision on nothing. And many venues don't use portaloos anyway, they have fixed loos built in.

I think it could be one loo per person and men would still piss in cups and chuck it over the audience, they just can't be arsed walking to the loo. If they're not peeing and chucking it, they're chucking beer (they do seem to manage to get to the bar).

Megifer · 30/08/2024 09:48

If you don't get tickets op console yourself with the fact that oasis concerts are usually the absolute pits. Or they were, bottles of piss thrown on you, lit spliffs and cigs thrown around, beer chucked around. Massive blokes barging into you. Every single concert. Fucking grim.

And if Liam is on one he is just shit live. And I say that as a once upon a time oasis worshipper.

greengreyblue · 30/08/2024 09:48

OP just log in before 9 and try . It will probably crash.

@pollypocet that's what I am a bit confused about the refreshing, my friend said to just keep refreshing, someone else said not to or you'll loose your place

GrammarTeacher · 30/08/2024 09:56

Crimsonripple · 29/08/2024 21:55

I saw them at the Milton Keynes Bowl in 2005. It was likely their relationship was souring already but it wasn't a great gig at all.

It soured long before that. There was a single in the 90s that was a leaked recording of them fighting. They were always walking out on the band. They must have been offered a LOT of money to put up with being in each other's company on tour again.

onwardsup4 · 30/08/2024 09:57

fruitbrewhaha · 29/08/2024 23:01

Rather than getting in a panic over oasis why don’t you go and see other bands? There are gigs on every night of the year, some good, some not so much, some cheap, some more expensive. Live music is great, get out and see some.

Isn't that the point though, Oasis aren't playing every night of the week?

Don't refresh once in the actual queue. Ticketmaster tells you not to. It's also a bad idea to log on to the same account on more than one device. They will identify you as a bot.
