How the fuck is this going to happen (oasis)

Myself and dh would love to go next year. As would most of the country I'm guessing ha ! The last concert I went to was Britney when I was 10 so I'm new to ticketmaster. Just reading through some threads on Reddit and I'm seriously thinking how the fuck are we even going to be in with a chance of getting tickets with the lengths some people go to?! Multiple devices, different WiFi connections, different sites etc etc
Why can't it just be simple ?? I know it's probably not going to happen for us but it does make me sad, Oasis wasn't my era, I was a child in the 90's but I do love their music and would love to see them live !

This is why I never go to concerts. I miss being able to turn up to gigs I fancy and the cost is just eye-watering, even if you do manage to navigate this insane online systems. You expect something like going to the opera to be pricey but pop concerts just seem in a different league of expense (and don't get me started on premier league football).

I was watching Buffy with the kids the other day and they were so excited by the idea of a local venue like the Bronze with a different band every weekend, where you can just turn up, see your friends, hang out, make out with someone, get eaten by a vampire have a dance and a laugh and go home without being flat broke at the end of the night. Do those places even exist anymore? Student unions?

Liverpool.
Birkenhead.
Wrexham.
Chester, to an extent.
All have venues and regular live music.
And the Tivoli Buckley is still going, but not like its heyday.

I am not sure people will go for Oasis so much. I saw them when I was a teenager and even though I liked them a lot they were not great live, actually they were quite dull. Their image worked for the 90’s but I don’t think they have as much lasting appeal as others from that time. I reckon you will be able to get tickets.

1 million people googled the name of the drummer on Tuesday night ( this was the question asked in the presale application) ….think that speaks volumes

Demonhunter · 30/08/2024 12:37

I think a token gig at Spike Island could have been a good shout, considering Noel said it was the Roses gig there that inspired him to create Oasis.

Manchester Evening News have just said pre sale between 7-10 pm tonight. Codes have started being sent out .. for all the negativity, I just want to go sing and dance with my bestie and our girls .. what’s wrong with that? 😊

Kitkat1523 · 30/08/2024 12:42

First codes seem to have arrived around 1210pm

I'm not sure why anyone would be sad enough to want to go and see a pair of washed up old Manc men rehashing their dreary back catalogue of strangled Beatles rip-offs, but hey.

I don't get the comparison to the Beatles, the Beatles are a bit twee and generic, rather than rough 90s urban Manc scene, or were they perceived as different at the time? We had a primary school teacher who loved the Beatles so we sang their songs in primary school a bit but they are so unmemorable and not really used in mainstream culture for anything the way that ABBA etc are.

I hope people get their money’s worth. When I saw them, Liam moped about mumbling the first few songs and then wandered off the stage in a strop. Noel then took over and sang with about as much enthusiasm. Luckily it was at a music festival and other performances were a lot better.

Skibidy · 30/08/2024 12:52

Id like to see them but not too fussed if i dont get tickets. Id be looking for either London/Manchester. Id drive as i dont drink so no need for a hotel. Im not happy tbh with ticket prices but what can you do. Im prepared for not getting tickets. Oh well. I kinda feel like they will fall out soon before the dates and it will all go to shit 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄🫣 i also feel like its being done solely for money and through Noels gritted teeth not that they “want to get the band back together” and are excited to reunite. I think its Liams dream but not Noels.

if its anything like Liams Knebworth gig, there will be lots of men off their faces on drink and drugs (how can they even remember it?!), dealers walking through crowds openly shouting out the drugs they have for sale, men throwing left over food through the crowd and also pissing in bottles/ plastic beer cups and lobbing it into the crowd. Absolute animals, really grim tbh!

They’ve already released new dates because of the massive demand on the ballot for tickets. It’s going to sell out in minutes

Fathercrispness · 30/08/2024 13:06

OP, have you got through on the ballot? If you haven’t you won’t be able to even get in the queue for tickets.

TravelInsuranceQ · 30/08/2024 13:08

Honestly, I can't see the gigs actually happening unless they're just doing it for the money.
They're bound to fall out again between now and then, and one of them will throw their toys out of the pram 😂

Kitkat1523 · 30/08/2024 13:09

Code emails have all been sent now ….so good luck anyone who has one

That’s not true. The ballot is only for pre sale tonight. The general sale tomorrow is for anyone

CaramelEmporium · 30/08/2024 13:44

So did anyone get thro on the ballot? What do we reckon the chances are of getting tickets if you did?
I’m being put off by all the grim concert stories, I’ve only seen them at Knebworth.

YellowphantGrey · 30/08/2024 13:48

Desperatefornachos · 29/08/2024 21:47

Are they touring Europe or just U.K.?

UK and Ireland. Expected to announce European dates but nothing confirmed yet. Extra dates added to UK on the basis of the demand in the ballot for pre sale codes.

I've got two of us trying for 4 tickets. Got dates and venues wrote down in order of preference and will go from there.

Not expecting to get any but you never know!

Lots on another thread have got codes….but they are all saying they have got 2 emails and 2 codes…..so not sure if there’s been a fuck up? ….they are all a bit nervous over which email code to use

The ballot is for pre sale which is 7pm tonight, general sale tomorrow morning.

Pre sale have an allocated amount of tickets, it's not all the tickets, which is why they've added extra dates because of the amount of entries for the pre sale ballot.

They did say that the UK and Ireland dates would be the only European ones.

That is actually hilarious.

They are literally the least hardcore type of music out there 😄

It's the fandom that is hard core, not the music.

Ha ha ha.

I know, but just associating the word 'hardcore' with oasis is quite amusing, maybe just to me
