How the fuck is this going to happen (oasis)

Myself and dh would love to go next year. As would most of the country I'm guessing ha ! The last concert I went to was Britney when I was 10 so I'm new to ticketmaster. Just reading through some threads on Reddit and I'm seriously thinking how the fuck are we even going to be in with a chance of getting tickets with the lengths some people go to?! Multiple devices, different WiFi connections, different sites etc etc
Why can't it just be simple ?? I know it's probably not going to happen for us but it does make me sad, Oasis wasn't my era, I was a child in the 90's but I do love their music and would love to see them live !

Yes, however sometimes the entire site crashes. If you're in the waiting room it's fine to refresh if it's struggling or whatever, as soon as you're allocated a place in the queue (it will be clear on screen at this point) don't refresh even if it's struggling as you'll lose your place!

When you're in as well if it says no tickets its worth waiting a few minutes as people get a set time to carry out the purchase once they've selected tickets, and some people don't do this so they get rereleased.

Don't have more than one tab open on the same device for TM either as it might think you're a bot.

Edited

This.

It's liable to crash. I've had it log me out before too, just before they go on sale.

Hence worth having someone on a different account on a different computer trying too if you can.

DH has a group of friends all trying for tickets. I think there's a core group of four so if only one person gets tickets it's fine, but I think ideally they want kids/partners to go.

On the subject of kids, be aware of the (very sensible) age limit for tickets, particularly for Heaton Park which is strictly over 14s only (kids in seats elsewhere). Personally it's the wrong show for kids imho and I'm genuinely pro kids at gigs.

Another jungalist here! Solidarity!

WalterHWhite · 30/08/2024 08:34

Can someone help me out please?! Am I right that if I’ve been successful in the pre sale ballot, a code will be sent at 9 am ( or might it be sometime up until 5pm) or something? Thanks

I don't think you're allowed to buy a ticket unless you're male, aged between 43 and 54 and you liked them first, anyway.

PuppyMonkey · 30/08/2024 08:39

I’d just be worried they’ll fall out before/during these shows and they’ll be called off anyway.Confused

WalterHWhite · 30/08/2024 08:39

oh bugger, I’m none of those!

I think it depends on how you use the term gig for as opposed to concert. Like I describe seeing the Foos as going to a gig, but seeing Sophie Ellis Bextor (who I love live) is going to a concert. Piss throwing you don't find at concerts. Maybe it's just a use of terminology difference.

Hmm I've seen the Foos and SEB in the past. I tend to use gig for everything!

Having said that as a rule I'd class a gig as smaller than a concert. The exception being outdoor festival style shows for larger bands (like Heaton Park). And concert shouts show you sit down at rather than show you stand at. You tend to have floor standing for rock and floor seating for pop. Unless it's the Rolling Stones and that's just too many very old fans! I note Pop Concerts tend to be more female dominated which is probably really where the piss throwing link is - male dominated crowds and men too lazy to queue for the bogs. ('Fun' fact: Portaloos hire companies recommend calculating less portaloos per head for men than women due to time in the toilet, so if you have a male heavy crowd there's less toilet provision which I don't think helps either. Can you tell I'm a nerd?!)

Concert is also a class related word to me too. It's also interesting you use SEB as the example you give for a concert...

Yes.

Summernightsinthe21stcentury · 30/08/2024 08:47

I believe if successful in the ballot you will receive an email by 5pm today with the details about the presale.

WalterHWhite · 30/08/2024 08:47

Thanks @RedToothBrush sorry to ask again. I don’t know what I’m doing! Once/if I get the code, can I just go about my day or is it time sensitive? I don’t really want to sit at a screen all day if I don’t need to

Ilovepugs2017 · 30/08/2024 08:49

Having looked at some online vids, they look boring live 👎🤷‍♀️

WalterHWhite · 30/08/2024 08:49

Thanks @Summernightsinthe21stcentury so the code today is given to get tickets tomorrow morning? Dear god the things you do for your kids!

Summernightsinthe21stcentury · 30/08/2024 08:52

@WalterHWhite
No the code is for the presale, which should happen today. I now believe the presale will be this evening as the email with the code for it will arrive by 5pm.
Tomorrow is general sale, no need for a code.
I am the parent in this situation and my kids are helping ME get the tickets .
It's payback time for all those tickets I bought them when they were younger 😂

Not really, I could have used Take That or the PSB, or Pink but it's just she was playing on the radio as I was writing this so she was the first one to pop in my head.
Yes I do use gig and concert differently, even if the venue is the same and nearly all GIGS I've been to, there's piss. Seems we both can use the words in an incorrect way to the dictionary definition, but that's life.

You really do seem to think you're like an authority on live music judging by the attitude you have.

PurpleChrayn · 30/08/2024 08:55

I'm not sure why anyone would be sad enough to want to go and see a pair of washed up old Manc men rehashing their dreary back catalogue of strangled Beatles rip-offs, but hey.

WalterHWhite · 30/08/2024 08:56

They do have their uses - sometimes! I think I’ve got it (not the code, the gist.) Hope so anyway.

Summernightsinthe21stcentury · 30/08/2024 08:58

Good luck @WalterHWhite
I hope those who want tickets get some.

I would be surprised if the presale is tomorrow.

It will be a total car crash if it is.

Most likely this evening which is a recipe for disaster too. It was clearly originally scheduled for this morning but that hasn't gone to plan.

People are talking about it being 5pm now, but I've also seen 7pm rumoured.

If you get on the presale, yes it is time critical.

So far it's getting 5/10 for how they've handled this tbh.

WalterHWhite · 30/08/2024 09:00

Thanks @Summernightsinthe21stcentury. I’m not holding out much hope but son is hundreds of miles away atm and has asked me. Not sure I’m the best person for the job really!

They're 51 and 57. I'm in my fifties too. If you think really hard, can you come up with a reason why people my age might want to see a band like this?

WalterHWhite · 30/08/2024 09:02

Thanks for the heads up @RedToothBrush. I don’t think I’m up to spending this lovely sunny day faffing about with it. It would be funny if I got tickets though by just bumbling along!

Summernightsinthe21stcentury · 30/08/2024 09:03

Same as me @MorrisZapp
I've seen them before at the old Wembley, it was a great concert or gig, whatever.

Crikeyalmighty · 30/08/2024 09:04

Well as someone who works in that industry if you don't get tix console yourself with the fact they were never that great 'live'-

WalterHWhite · 30/08/2024 09:04

Going to try my best though!

Nolongera · 30/08/2024 09:08

It's not complex, you try to buy tickets by using the internet, like almost everything else these days.

I was a massive fan, saw them many times, not bothered now but good luck to those who want to see them and I hope they enjoy themselves.
