How the fuck is this going to happen (oasis)

Myself and dh would love to go next year. As would most of the country I'm guessing ha ! The last concert I went to was Britney when I was 10 so I'm new to ticketmaster. Just reading through some threads on Reddit and I'm seriously thinking how the fuck are we even going to be in with a chance of getting tickets with the lengths some people go to?! Multiple devices, different WiFi connections, different sites etc etc
Why can't it just be simple ?? I know it's probably not going to happen for us but it does make me sad, Oasis wasn't my era, I was a child in the 90's but I do love their music and would love to see them live !

I remember when Michael Jackson was due here on the "This is it" and a mate of mine planned to make a small fortune by getting some tickets and then re-selling them for a profit (it was a lot easier to do that in those days) and we all know how that panned out. Guess the Brothers Grimm will just have to keep their eyes on the multi million pound prize and do their best not to fall out during the long countdown to show time

Skintagain12 · 30/08/2024 01:11

Not interested in them in the slightest. I think their songs are depressing. But my friend is a desperate fan so I'll be on the waiting list for tickets come Saturday morning 🙄

Skintagain12 · 30/08/2024 01:15

Apparently rando for the pre sale

More seriously I didn't get tickets until 4pm on the day of sale for Knebworth and although I know things have improved massively, after being stuck for 3 hrs last year on Ticketmasters Queue of Doom (and experiencing site outages the year before) for Eurovision I am expecting issues. The demand is high. Really high. Even with those tickets prices.

I'm actually going off the idea, especially thinking about the stadium family vibe and the possiblility of having to sit down - where's the fun in sitting down???

I'd be gutted if I spent £600 getting 4 tickets, £200 on travel, then they played for nowt at Glastonbury a month earlier

They put out a statement saying they're not doing Glastonbury

PyongyangKipperbang · 30/08/2024 02:09

I dont get it. Its just a sodding gig, from a band who are not actually that into it and are just doing it for the money.

At least Monty Python had the decency to admit it on their final gigs!

GogAndMagog · 30/08/2024 02:31

There is no way Oasis will have the dignity to give a good show.

They'll probably abuse their own fans for being suckers to go see them.

Hard pass here.

NellyTimes · 30/08/2024 06:57

I saw them at Wembley in around 2000 and they were fucking awful. Liam spent the entire time slagging off Patst Kensit (who he had just separated from) calling her a whore and a slag and would occasionally grace us with a song in his dreadful whiny voice, which won't have improved in the last 20 odd years. The crowd was full of boorish cunts as well.

So if you like poor vocals, misogyny and wankers then yeah, go for it.

Purplturpl · 30/08/2024 07:06

does anyone know if I sign in on computer and go in to waiting room. And also on phone using data . Will ticketmaster not like the fact that one person signed in in two different queues?

pollypocet · 30/08/2024 07:11

Thanks for rationalising things for me. I'm autistic so I can tend to get myself worked up over things and obsessive when I get something in my head.
I was reading a page on Reddit (I have put a screenshot) of instructions and I'm struggling to process all the information in there.
I just want to simply know if I can join the waiting room at 8.30 and then wait until I automatically get put into the ticket queue ? I'm worrying about if I have to hit refresh and if I do when that is.

Also I know oasis isn't everyone's cup of tea but the music is great imo and it's something myself and dh can experience together (he's not that fussed about going either way he'd like too but isn't going to go out of his way to get the tickets, but he knows what I can get like)
Also I'll be trying for seated tickets, I hope that means there won't be any piss thrown about?! Like wtf go to the toilet !!!

As far as I can make out aslong as you're in queues for different dates then it's okay. But there's so many instructions it's confusing me !

I feel they owe the poor V festival goers free tickets for the set they never saw!

flyawayrobin · 30/08/2024 07:25

Saw them for a tenner back in 1995. I really like their music, but they were very arrogant and Liam Gallagher tried to start a fight with an audience member. The be entered the ballot for pre sale, but won’t hold my breath. Definitely maybe might be better to just listen to their albums at home and reminisce about the 90s rather than go!?

those that have entered ballot have you heard of you’ve been selected for pre sale entry?

My reminiscing of the 90's would involve spice girls and Britney Spears, can't see dh being too interested in that 🤔😆

Ticketmaster is fine with you having multiple tabs open and in multiple queues. Not sure about being signed in on multiple devices doing it though.

MouseofCommons · 30/08/2024 07:40

If you don't get tickets this weekend sit tight until next summer. The stages will be built approx a week before each gig and more tickets will trickle out quietly. Thousands of more seats were added for Harry Styles and Taylor this way. (Queen of the cheap seats here).

Summernightsinthe21stcentury · 30/08/2024 07:43

Has anyone got any codes yet?

steadywinner · 30/08/2024 07:44

Why does one person using 4g rather than wifi if there's two of you looking for tickets make any difference?

yeah I am a newby to buying tickets so have no idea. I read somewhere they don’t like too many people on the same ip address all in queues at the same time.

Waiting room then follow the instructions Ticketmaster gives when it hits 9am. I think you do have to click on something which means it automatically refreshes (you should not do refresh yourself) but I can't 100% remember if I'm honest.

It should work smoothly, but I'm not holding my breath. It really depends on what the servers can cope with.

As I say I've had issues with the current system, overloading with very high demand and crazy fans. Outages and getting booted at the wrong moment wouldn't surprise me. There's enough of a hardcore following who do all this years ago and only got tickets because they persisted.

The issues with the presale ballot are more than just a publicity stunt. It's giving a fairly good idea that interest is very high. The extra dates announced already is very very unusual. I am still half expecting it to go Fri, Sat, Extra Sun, Rest Monday, Extra Tuesday, Wed, Rest Thursday, Extra Friday, Sat, Sun for Heaton Park to make it potentially up to 8 nights. It'll be odd to have just one midweek show and I'm surprised they aren't doing the first Sunday ATM.

We will see how today is handled with the presale. I think there will be a lot of already upset fans by 7pm tonight tbh.

I actually think the presale has been spectacularly mishandled. I think they have tried but it's only resulting in a feeling of more pressure and when fans who followed them around before don't get on the ballot it's going to add to that and make for a lot of grumpy fans tomorrow too.

The Queue of Doom is worse than the refresh of the past because you feel like you can't leave your screen 'just in case' with it.

Flexibubble · 30/08/2024 08:03

pollypocet · 29/08/2024 22:09

@Flexibubble So there is no fight for the waiting room? I can just go onto the app aslong as it is before 9am and then I'll be redirected into the queue once the tickets go live ?

Yes, however sometimes the entire site crashes. If you're in the waiting room it's fine to refresh if it's struggling or whatever, as soon as you're allocated a place in the queue (it will be clear on screen at this point) don't refresh even if it's struggling as you'll lose your place!

When you're in as well if it says no tickets its worth waiting a few minutes as people get a set time to carry out the purchase once they've selected tickets, and some people don't do this so they get rereleased.

Don't have more than one tab open on the same device for TM either as it might think you're a bot.

heinzseight · 30/08/2024 08:10

Bet the scammers are rubbing their hands in glee after the cash they made off Taylor's tickets.

RedToothBrush · 30/08/2024 08:13

Purplturpl · 30/08/2024 07:55

yeah I am a newby to buying tickets so have no idea. I read somewhere they don’t like too many people on the same ip address all in queues at the same time.

Yes cos it hammers their servers! But if you are trying to get tickets for different nights then you have legitimate reason to do it. They know people do this. Especially because certain nights will have higher demand than others so people will hedge their bets and see what they can get and take what comes up first.

This also means 30,000 people in the queue ahead of you can be misleading. Lots of people will be in multiple queues and buy the first tickets that they get to the ticket screen for. They will then exit the other 3 queues they are in.

In theory a standing only gig should process quicker because there are less options for choosing your seats etc. I think that's about the only saving grace for Heaton Park over other venues.

Heaton Park is awful. I hate it. And if the weather fails for the first weekend it'll be doubly miserable by the last night.

Friday and Saturday night shows will be more yobbish than other nights because people will drink more. The last night of a venue was typically traditionally regarded as the best Oasis performance (I think there's only a couple of times this rule doesn't apply) so I do think a fair number of people will think about that too.

Demonhunter · 30/08/2024 08:21

RedToothBrush · 30/08/2024 01:01

Hmm I don't think it's all gigs but there's definitely a 'type' of gig. The courteeners have had issues with crowds letting off flairs before - they are amongst the worst behaved crowds tbh. It comes to something when a band have had to put out warnings not to bring explosives or smoke bombs into gigs in the past. (If you aren't familiar with this Google it - it's really been an issue as mad as it sounds).

I think it depends on how you use the term gig for as opposed to concert. Like I describe seeing the Foos as going to a gig, but seeing Sophie Ellis Bextor (who I love live) is going to a concert. Piss throwing you don't find at concerts. Maybe it's just a use of terminology difference.
