Is there any such thing as a 7 seater car for 2 children?

That has isofix installation in the 3rd row?

In a nutshell, I have 2 DC that I need to separate. They can’t sit in the front passenger seat.

Both seats are isofix. Is there a 7 seater that would have isofix in the very back or does it not exist? :(

Only other option is a much larger SUV 5 seater, but I don’t think it would be wise in case it doesn’t m separate them enough so they can’t touch each other if they reached across

How old are they, and how determined are they to reach each other? I used to have a Peugeot 807 which was massive and had 2 rows of proper rear seats but even so, there wasnt really any configuration of seats that meant a really determined child aged maybe 4 or over couldnt reach the other seats with their feet if not their hands 😬

How about one of those inflatable barriers to go in the middle seat to keep them apart?

Pretty sure VW Sharan does - might be worth a look...

They sell backseat dividers online - would one of those work? You could get the blow up ones? Depends how much separation you need! Might save you having to get a giant car.

BuffaloCauliflower · 29/08/2024 18:44

You wont get Isofix in the very back seats of any 7 seater, but how separate are you thinking? A Ford SMax might do it, though you won’t get a new one as they’ve just been discontinued. The middle seat is a full sized seat, so if you have them on the two outer seats they shouldn’t be able to reach each other.

InTheRainOnATrain · 29/08/2024 18:51

I think the audi Q7 has isofix in the 3rd row.

We have a Ford smax fitted isofix each side with 360 car seats still plenty of room in middle seat

Instead of throwing money at the problem (been there) sanction them for poor behaviour. Unless there’s severe SEN then there’s no reason why they can’t learn to co exist in the car together. If they can’t keep their hands off each other for a car ride then they don’t get to where they want to go.

Parent of 3 boys with autism and ADHD.

failing that I think the seat Alhambra might have isofix in the 3rd row or vw Sharon

Sadly, severe SEN. Very strong and aggressive behaviour due to upset and hyperactivity. Non verbal, not very good communication for basics such as essentials like a drink. You get the picture. So cannot use those methods sadly

I tried and he deflated it 😆 if I don’t laugh at that, I’ll cry! He gets around bloody everything

Iirc Ive seen on insta (mostly) americans who have what essentially looks like Styrofoam covered in black fabric with velcro on the edging that slots in and essentially makes like 2 cubicles??? So the kids cant touch or fight
Sort of like this but bigger

Might be worth looking at before spending £££ on a car?

mushpush · 29/08/2024 19:44

@FryingPanWithJam

Oh darn it!

You could probably make one if you had the time? A bit of mdf or similar cut to size, padded with some cushioning on all sides and then a waterproof fabric cover? Should be scratch proof / easy to clean and you can make it to the size you need?

Ozanj · 29/08/2024 19:54

Do both kids have SEN. If not I’d put one of them ij the front.

ineedtogwtoutbeforeitatoohot · 29/08/2024 19:55

You can fit isofix brackets yourself if they arnt installed by manufacture you just have to order the part. My dh fitted it.

SaulHudsonDavidJones · 29/08/2024 19:59

Have a look at the Toyota Corolla Verso. 7 seats and pretty sure isofix.

Sh1neAL1ght · 29/08/2024 20:01

Citroen Spacetourer
I drive one and love it. Very versatile.

In that case, we currently using a Vauxhall vivaro. It’s a bloody great van but, holy shit, can you separate the kids!!

Dont forget, they don’t get any smaller and unless you get something BIG they’ll grow out of the third row in a few years. We had a seat Alhambra which was great for a while but if we’re going out with all three (all now teens) it’s the van. Can you access a motability vehicle?

I have a Verso. It's isofix in the middle row but not the back. 3 full sized seats across the middle though.

cfdaaeffssfg · 29/08/2024 20:06

Seat Alhambra/VW Sharan definitely have isofix in the third row of seats.

PointyHairyLegHairs · 29/08/2024 20:10

My friend has a large piece of perspex cut to size in place that separates her very SEN child from her other children. Works a treat!

Sorry I’m probably being really obtuse here! But what do you mean they’d outgrow the 3rd row?

So the problem with this is the removal of it. I don’t see how, with even medium effort, my son wouldn’t just remove that and get access that way sadly

99% sure that a Kia Sorrento has isofix in the back row of seats! If that helps..
