What is wrong with Liz Truss?

Mad? Thick? Possibly evil?
How does someone who inflicted the damage she has on the lives of so many, with ‘solutions’ like the below considered to fix her mess, have the gall to show her face in public.

I know she’ll claim unfounded allegations, hatchet job etc but given how insane she appears to be, I’d put nothing past her. Kwarteng is clearly relishing the chance to stick the boot in whilst he can. What loyalty.

A bit like Trump perhaps, bit of a delusional narcissist?

CormorantStrikesBack · 27/08/2024 16:38

First post nailed it.

Over40Overdating · 27/08/2024 16:42

@Orangesandlemons77 But surely even they have enough self awareness to know when they cross a line they can’t come back from?

Something like cancelling chemo is something most people would keep to themselves out of self preservation!

No Tory cruelty surprises me. Truss is an odd character, she started off Left wing, moved to the Lib Dems then became full blown Tory, trying to emulate Thatcher.

She was last seen in the States giving talks to the far right and blaming deep state for being ousted. She is making a lot of money giving talks and completely lacks self awareness.

MouseofCommons · 27/08/2024 17:08

A bit thick, being used as a mouthpiece by other people.
She certainly isn't the full shilling. I don't think she realises either.

Xelda · 27/08/2024 17:19

It's bizarre. It's like she has reverse imposter syndrome.

MotherofPearl · 27/08/2024 17:22

It's bizarre. It's like she has reverse imposter syndrome.

This exactly.

LadyKenya · 27/08/2024 17:24

She really does not seem to care about the mess that she helped to create. Shellfish, horrid woman.

Muffinlover2 · 27/08/2024 17:25

Not a tory myself so not really defending her, but do you really think that goverments are run by the PM?

That all decisions are the whim of one individual? That there are no other external and internal interests that push for certain policies?

Come on, it's not sensible to blame an individual for a massive mess like the Truss budget.

She was used as a scapegoat.

RadioBamboo · 27/08/2024 17:26

MotherofPearl · 27/08/2024 17:22

This exactly.

Known as Dunning-Kruger effect. Stupid people tend to be too stupid to realise they're stupid.

GingerPirate · 27/08/2024 17:26

A bit deranged.

user1471538283 · 27/08/2024 17:26

She's an incompetent narcissist who is desperate to be valid. She has no shame. The best thing for everyone would be to ignore her.

GrandesRandonnees · 27/08/2024 17:33

Pork markets
Importing two thirds of our cheese is a disgrace
Photo ops outside St Basil’s wearing fur hat while on diplomatic mission to Russia, during which their defence minister considered putting the nukes on fair warning
The budget
30 days as PM
Her own parents have distanced themselves from her

Not exactly edifying, is it? She wasn’t scapegoated, she has done this to herself. A clueless, dangerous narcissist.

Moonshiners · 27/08/2024 17:36

I think it shows a huge issue with the Tory party. The fact that they let her get to the point where she was prime minister is quite unbelievable for stop she obviously is a narcissist and /or slightly mentally ill.
What the hell were they thinking?

IsthatyouKateAdie · 27/08/2024 17:37

I worked quite closely with her in one of her ministerial roles- pretty much daily contact for about a year- probably the worst period in my professional life. It isn't that she is stupid, more that she glitches all the time, like an early prototype robotic humanoid. The 'reverse imposter syndrome' is also a very good observation. She has some quite sharp political instincts but the politics always trumps the evidence, and 'the politics' is shorthand for 'her own interests'.

And I blame her for finishing off the late Queen. Not intentionally, just the horrible effort of dealing with her.

She was stupid enough to allow herself to be used as a scapegoat.

unsync · 27/08/2024 17:40

I think some kind of undiagnosed personality disorder. The lights are on, but no-one is home.

So the diagnosis would be "thick as shit".

punnedout · 27/08/2024 17:52

I think she probably has some kind of personality disorder. But I think that about most MPs, TBF.

jennylamb1 · 27/08/2024 17:52

Her tutor at Oxford commented that she would refuse to accept feedback. Actually remember reading that Boris Johnson's tutor at Eton said something similar. Single-minded to the point that there is an absolute, and you could say pathological. indifference to the damage that they may cause. Johnson's Brexit campaign and Truss's crashing of the economy come to mind.

Loving this. Imagining her face blurring whilst she reboots post-glitch😂
i would still be hiding under a rock if I were in her position. She must have a hide like a rhino.
