What is wrong with Liz Truss?

Mad? Thick? Possibly evil?
How does someone who inflicted the damage she has on the lives of so many, with ‘solutions’ like the below considered to fix her mess, have the gall to show her face in public.

I know she’ll claim unfounded allegations, hatchet job etc but given how insane she appears to be, I’d put nothing past her. Kwarteng is clearly relishing the chance to stick the boot in whilst he can. What loyalty.

It’s not that narcissists aren’t self aware exactly. They are very aware of how other people see them and how other people see them is sort of their entire justification for being. She’s had one hell of a narcissistic injury. I think that’s what’s behind the dissociated look. But it’s ok because they always regroup and conclude eventually it was everyone else and not them that was in the weong. They’re like Japanese knotweed. Hard to kill and incredibly good at regenerating.

Reported. Ablist and offensive. Wtf!?

Topseyt123 · 27/08/2024 18:29

She is both delusional and thick.

She’s not making a lot of money - she’s talking to empty rooms and trying to promote her book at tiny literary festivals in the arse end of Norfolk. Her attempt at hitting the speaker circuit in the US was a disaster as the Americans hate a loser. I’m starting to feel quite sorry for her - and once people start feeling sorry for you that’s the end of your political career.

I agree. She’s not making a lot of money - doing speaking engagements for £10-20k (I know that’s a lot in real money, but compared to BoJo making millions, she’s not even close to that league). She’s a terrible speaker which likely doesn’t help. She’s become a Steve Bannon-like shill for not much money. You have to wonder wtf she’s thinking.

I forget how anti-autistic some people can be and am always surprised by it.

Thank you to the posters who stuck up for the autism community on this thread.

It’s appreciated.

Posts like that HURT.

She's an incompetent narcissist who is desperate to be valid. She has no shame. The best thing for everyone would be to ignore her.

Her personal conduct outside of political life attests to this description of her personality.

SemperIdem · 27/08/2024 18:42

There’s definitely something quite severely amiss with that woman. Not entirely sure what it is, but it’s something.

Education79 · 27/08/2024 18:43

She doesn't get it at all, her actions caused the economy to tank and has caused misery for millions - she should have slipped away to the back benches and stepped down gracefully going into some other field discretely or retiring.

Instead she had the brass neck to stand again and tout her memoirs - its all very ill judged - but that's part of why she was a disaster as PM

HelpMeGetThrough · 27/08/2024 17:44

So the diagnosis would be "thick as shit".

No, I don't think so. I think some sort of neurological or pathological illness / personality disorder. Those kinds of things don't mean you are stupid. A lot of highly intelligent people lack basic interaction skills. They see 'normal/average' as other and can't relate to that.

No one’s mentioned the booze. She’s a big drinker

Yes, lots of things make more sense if you realise she is drunk.

By all accounts she is batshit and awful to work with. When she was in education she came up with shit ideas that she had to be talked down from too, but this would involve days of concerted effort and meetings.

HelpMeGetThrough · 27/08/2024 19:21

It isn't that she is stupid, more that she glitches all the time, like an early prototype robotic humanoid.

She's Rimmer from Red Dwarf!!

MotherofPearl · 27/08/2024 19:30

Thanks @RadioBamboo. I've learnt something new today. I'd not heard about the Dunning-Kruger effect, but it makes a lot of sense.

I've said it before on another Truss thread, but I think anyone else - me included - who failed so spectacularly and publicly at their jobs would immediately change their name, get plastic surgery and move continents. But not Truss. She just continues to brazen it out. Confused

She comes across like someone with early Korsakoffs tbh. I did wonder if she drank.

Pedallleur · 27/08/2024 19:47

A couple of 10k engagements a week is 100k plus any accommodation. Plus her PM allowance 115k plus plus any foreign trips. She isn't struggling

Racheltension1 · 27/08/2024 19:53

But why is the ODIOUS Kwarteng still all over the television, allowed to rehabilitate himself and throw her under the bus at every turn? He was the Chancellor for gods sake, surely at least as culpable as her? Was it Tufton Street, or what? How could they not have known how the markets would react?

tobee · 27/08/2024 20:00

Presumably she's someone who can't quite work out why she's not thought of as being extremely capable and competent as she thinks she is and when she's told she's not it's all a conspiracy because she's not "the right class" so she's latched onto that.

Also presumably, she's being paid by someone to keep her going now.

LizTruss · 27/08/2024 20:02

I'm as puzzled as you lot.

I honestly 🤞though that I had the right answers, I used my trusty Magic Robot which had been so successful for previous decisions. I think it must have lost some of it's 'magic'. So don't keep blaming me.

I saw everything l needed to kmow about Liz Truss when they annoumced she was the winner - she walked right past Rishi Sunal without shakimg his hand or acknowledging him. Rude cow.

Yeah according to the book he didn't challenge her at all.

I think Kwarteng is the sort of person who'll do anything for anyone who will cater to his ambition. In the easiest way possible. Truss promised him everything. He was too blinded by that promise to bother to see that Truss is totally incompetent and deluded.

That is unkind to the writers of Red Dwarf and to Chris Barrie.

I think it shows a huge issue with the Tory party. The fact that they let her get to the point where she was prime minister is quite unbelievable for stop she obviously is a narcissist and /or slightly mentally ill.
What the hell were they thinking?

I don’t think she’s unusual in that party.

Her response when the people of Kings Lynn and environs elected someone else in July was equally ungracious.

Allegations of alcoholism have been made before.

I can't bring myself to say nice to see you @LizTruss, but Magic Robot - that brings back happy memories!

Over promoted for her ability and out of touch.

No one with any idea would suggest ending cancer treatment as a cost saving exercise. It demonstrates a total lack of awareness of expectations from the public and what they value. It neglects to recognise that her job was to serve the interests of the public and do their best for them.

Telling them that they are going to die / their mother is going to die to bridge the deficit isn't going to poll terribly well. I wonder what her plan would have been for the mass protests it would have created.

To be scrupulously fair, although I have zero time for her, I wouldn't go so far as to say she's evil- just tin-eared, over promoted and lacking situational awareness or shame. It's quite common practice for Ministers to have 'think the unthinkable' discussions with senior officials and special advisers- as an incubator for creative solutions. It's very rare that the really unthinkable ideas take form (Rwanda being an obvious exception). I would be surprised if the cancelling cancer care suggestion were more than capping unthinkable suggestions with something even more impossible, to spur people on. You wouldn't ideally have such conversations reported back.
Actually cancelling cancer treatment would be so politically career-ending no UK PM would advocate it, even a shameless, robotic nonentity.

Because he's super posh and sounds nice and charming. I still want him to be asked about the giggling at the Queen's funeral.
