Jet lag plus mosquito bites driving me crazy. Got back from the US yesterday late morning. Am being tortured by my 48 bites, the itching woke me up. Damn s’mores round the firepit on the last night of hols.

Now I’m in an oatmeal bath fully antihistamined up but still SO itchy I can’t sleep.

why are you up? And what’s your top mosquito bite cure <scratches>

Always sleep badly or lightly during period, wrong temperature , anxious etc, also in peri. On HRT and magnesium etc. MIL (dementia) also woke me up at 4am rattling around her room sorting through drawers with her v noisy en suite fan going. Got her back to bed now wide awake. Work will be fun later 😩

BaronessOrczy · 27/08/2024 05:26

Still awake. Still itchy. Just had a cry. It fucking hurts, my legs are a blistered mess.

Leg pain. It keeps waking me if I move in my sleep. I’m exhausted.

Sympathy to all the rest of us up for less than good reasons.

My Dad has dementia and often wakes in middle of the night and gets dressed.

He needs my help so at some point calls me but I'm usually awake by then anyway due to clattering or noise. I've just helped him, made him a cup of tea, and put his radio on.

Hope you're ok @Feelingstrange2. You sound lovely and your dad is lucky to have you 😊

CalicoPusscat · 27/08/2024 05:35

Ouch @BaronessOrczy do you have any sudocrem? Ice pack?

I can't decide what to have for breakfast, there is eggs, baked beans, sausages, tomatoes, potato waffles. Yes I should have porridge with berries and nuts and seeds but want some stodge. I can have fruit afterwards.

Squirrelsnut · 27/08/2024 05:36

Cat.

squashyhat · 27/08/2024 05:38

Set the alarm for 5am so I could get onto my GP surgery's online consultation system about neck and shoulder pain which has been disrupting my sleep for 3 weeks. So now wide awake and Mumsnetting

EmeraldRoses · 27/08/2024 05:40

Ive got terrible period pain so I've taken codeine and it's just starting to kick in now. My tip is Eurax cream, it's expensive but some places stock the smaller tubes which is all you need. Also geemaline dotted on the lm as it is anti inflammatory. Calamile lotion is also meant to work but I've never tried it x

Can I ask what magnesium do you take? Is it just a standard one from the supermarket or is it a special type from somewhere like Holland and Barratt? I'm going to get some today x

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/08/2024 05:43

Up for work. That was a horrible alarm after 3 days weekend!

CalicoPusscat · 27/08/2024 05:53

@EmeraldRoses careful, you need a good bioavailable magnesium like glycinate and not one like magnesium oxide

EmeraldRoses · 27/08/2024 05:56

OK thanks Calico, do the ones you've recommended come in a tablet form?

Fimbledore · 27/08/2024 05:59

Had a nightmare over an hour ago.
Now body all tense and can't go back to sleep.

Oh bless you.
I always find this sort of pen helps: see pic
My sister swears by anthisan to the extent that I have to take her a tube if I visit her in Australia.

Gonk123 · 27/08/2024 06:07

Try Eurex for bites.

CalicoPusscat · 27/08/2024 06:14

@EmeraldRoses I currently have tablet biglycinate but was interested in trying the liquid floradix next, need to look into it more.

Leafy greens, seeds (pumpkin in particular) and nuts are good sources of magnesium

UpTheMagicFarawayTree · 27/08/2024 06:14

Zambuk is the only thing I've ever found that stops bites itching, it's brilliant.

MassDebate · 27/08/2024 06:24

Cat woke me at 2.30, now I’m up after barely sleeping since as we move house today!

Fenofexadine is my new go-to antihistamine for mosquito bites - just back from holiday and usually react badly to bites, but a tablet a day has kept the itching away almost entirely. Game changer!

Tranquiltimes · 27/08/2024 06:48

TheStroppyFeminist · 27/08/2024 03:47

I’m starting the blood sugar diet tomorrow because I’m fat and have been drinking too much and need a reset and I woke up an hour ago panicking about both those things.

Worrying about same plus my face is spotty cos I'm skin picking again.

I wish I found this thread 3 hours ago!

Also anxious that I suggested to an old friend to meet up but I think he thinks it's a dare. I knew I shouldn't have put kisses at dvd end of my messages. Maybe separate thread.

ComealongMartha · 27/08/2024 06:53

Up since 5 and at the gym.

DamnNutella · 27/08/2024 07:04

Up since 4:30 due to next door dog barking. He’s generally very quiet so assume he needed to go out but they didn’t get up so he kept howling. Hoping it’s a one off. Can’t go back to sleep as just got my period and I’m in agony. I took norethisterone for first time as was due my period on holiday and really regretting it now. I was an emotional mess these last few days. Also, the stone I lost over the 2 months before holiday is now back 🙁 ffs. Only took 2 weeks and I know some of it is water weight and retention but still.

Lets hope the day improves for everyone

CalicoPusscat · 27/08/2024 07:08

Need to wash up after breakfast and get ready now. I'll try not to doze off in the meeting room.
