Jet lag plus mosquito bites driving me crazy. Got back from the US yesterday late morning. Am being tortured by my 48 bites, the itching woke me up. Damn s’mores round the firepit on the last night of hols.

Now I’m in an oatmeal bath fully antihistamined up but still SO itchy I can’t sleep.

why are you up? And what’s your top mosquito bite cure <scratches>

I'm 6 months pregnant with my second child and am always waking up around this time with pregnancy insomnia 🙄

MuthaHubbard · 27/08/2024 04:12

Pain in my arm - like a dull constant toothache. I had calcific tendonitis a few years ago that was fixed via surgery, which I think is back. GP appointment tomorrow. Sympathy for the bites, I'm also the one that gets eaten alive

LoopyGremlin · 27/08/2024 04:13

I have the most awful panics at night about such trivial things. I think this anxiety is linked to peri-menopause and has certainly got worse in the last year or two. The things I worry about are really stupid in the cold light of day but I feel like they are huge issues at 3am 😢

Did a long run yesterday morning and either my aching legs have kept me up or I've fried myself. Been awake since 2.30, avoided my phone but DP just got up for work so now I'm even more awake.

Agree with vinegar on bites- it's the only thing that eases mine (although I find it stings cause I've normally scratched so much they're open).

Staying in a new self catering apartment this holiday. We usually stay at this resort but our usual apartment not available this year. Unfortunately the bed we’ve got I the new apartment has a cheap mattress that’s as hard as a board! I managed two nights of sleep on it but tonight nothing is working..

SecondFavouriteDinosaur · 27/08/2024 04:17

Disabled child is having one of his nights where he’s awake for 4-5 hours in the night and I have to stop him running round the house waking everyone else up. Work is going to be fun tomorrow.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 27/08/2024 04:18

Breastfeeding 9 month old baby. Who gets very angry and flails his arms about if I dare to remove boob from his mouth. He only sleeps if he's mashed up against me so tightly that I worry about squashing him and then it takes me ages to slowly edge away from him. He is also managing to take up an entire king size bed and I'm squashed against the wall.
You have my major sympathy re bites / itching.
Eat body weight in anti histamine tablets.
Itch cream/ calamine/ tea tree

Elevenutionary · 27/08/2024 04:18

ive a bad gluteal tendonitis which has flared up and when I’m nicely deeply asleep on it, it wakes me from sleep. It’s so painful. Grr.
That, and I really really think my DD is making the wrong choice for uni. She’s moving country, to a quite intense course. I think she’ll find it so difficult to settle. I think she’d have a lovely course here, and go for a masters after. But hey, what do I know. I’m just so worried and yet can say so little. That awful powerless feeling

MrsWidgerysLodger · 27/08/2024 04:20

I had a weird dream about Bill Bailey, a giant advert for the Spice Girls, a motorbike and Darren Brown being a relationship therapist. Then I woke up needing a wee..

someoneseatenmyapple · 27/08/2024 04:21

Totally get it @Threewheeler1 . Just been staring at my phone until I nod off for an hour or so. Think I need more ibuprofen as head is feeling like it's about to explode again. I think getting up is the right thing to do. Put the kettle on and have a cuppa!

BaronessOrczy · 27/08/2024 04:24

Now I REALLY want fish and chips…

I’m back in bed, duly dabbed. I’ve made tea - crucially, I have made a cup plus one in my travel mug. I always think the first cup of the day I want to have twice, and this saves me from having to get up again.

I hear you on the anxiety front. Definitely something in the peri theory, mine has only eased since starting HRT. Sorry for all those up with youngsters, Covid and other things.

That dream sounds awesome!

Big week at work and still loads to do. Might just get up and get started on some of it.

MumChp · 27/08/2024 04:25

Work...

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 27/08/2024 04:26

Jet lag - just got back from a work trip. I also had a couple of glasses of wine before bed, which was stupid in hindsight.

Good idea! Going to dig out my giant 'builders tea' mug 😁

Massive hugs to everyone feeling unwell. I am in agony with a sore throat. Flying home from holiday later so hoping I can nab a late GP appointment. Not sure if due to a fish bone I swallowed earlier in the week or ‘just’ tonsillitis etc.

fridaynight1 · 27/08/2024 04:32

I’m on holiday, got up in the night to go for a wee and walked into someone’s (DH’s) suitcase that had been left open next to my side of the bed. I’ve ripped my big toe nail half off and it’s hanging on by a thread.
Gutted because while my whole family swans off on a much anticipated boat trip to a paradise beach I’ve got to stay back and hobble to the doctor for antibiotics and goodness knows what.
It bled like hell so there’s no point if I can’t go in the sea .

Nightowl1234 · 27/08/2024 04:32

Breastfeeding my 3 month old and sniffing her lovely hair whilst reading MN. The endless feeds and lack of sleep are brutal, but hey, I can think of worse things to be doing right now.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 27/08/2024 04:33

I had groin radiotherapy last week and my skin is sore, weeping and itchy - aargh!!

Applesandpears23 · 27/08/2024 04:34

Breastfeeding 4 month old, also just us in a King sized bed and also no space!

I had a weird dream about Bill Bailey, a giant advert for the Spice Girls, a motorbike and Darren Brown being a relationship therapist. Then I woke up needing a wee..

I want to know more about this dream!

I got woken up by a dream this morning, dreamt I was picking blackberries for the first time in years, then I was queuing for the loo which was contained in a vending machine and when it was eventually my turn some rude boy tried to push ahead of me. I punched him in the balls and took my turn but there wasn't enough room to sit down. Woke up desperate for a wee! And 5 minutes before my alarm went off.

CalicoPusscat · 27/08/2024 04:44

Woke up about an hour ago with a sore throat so took a lozenge with hexylresorcinol. Unfortunately it had a laxative effect so mad dash for the loo! But it worked on my throat.

No point in more sleep as interview at 10am and I'm quite awake now, trying to decide what to have for breakfast and what to wear, must check weather forecast. Spot of shopping after interview as it's in the centre :)

vladimirVsvolodymr · 27/08/2024 04:49

I think the wind woke my toddler up. She was screaming. I have to be up in two hours for a doctors appointment so DH stayed with her (and she wanted him 🤣). Hope you feel better soon.

Blankspace35 · 27/08/2024 04:49

Me and my husband share a car and he starts work at 5.30 so im up to take him to work so i can go shopping later

TeainanIV · 27/08/2024 04:59

Pregnancy insomnia and a toddler with a stomach bug means both DH and I have had endless wake ups since 2am 😫. Hope the itching has eased OP!
