Lily Allen rehomed her dog because it chewed her passport

I've always disliked her!
She's complaining about the cost of replacement passports should she not have kept them safely tucked away?
And the kicker...she's about to buy a new puppy!
She was talking about this freely on the radio. Not even embarrassed!

She’s never been known for being particularly bright, has she. She’s a spoiled little rich girl with mediocre talent, wouldn’t have made it without her name. The dog had a lucky escape. Hopefully the new pup will get rehomed to someone with half a brain and have a better life too.

Elizo · 25/08/2024 10:42

If my dog chewed my passport I’d be furious with myself for leaving it out. Not sure what other issues she had with the dog but if that was it then it’s pretty poor

7wwkw · 25/08/2024 10:43

Poor poor dog. Hope s/he has been taken in by someone who will look after and love him/her.

HamSad · 25/08/2024 10:43

She's a nasty piece of work. This sort of callous disregard for anything beyond her own convenience and wants is entirely in character. A nepo baby with mediocre talent who thinks she's something special.

Butwhybecause · 25/08/2024 10:43

Thank goodness!
The dog might have a chance of a better life now.

CalicoPusscat · 25/08/2024 10:44

Dogs chew things. It's not deviant behaviour on the dog's part. Hope the dog gets a more reasonable home, pity poor puppy.

Lampzade · 25/08/2024 10:44

Stupid woman.

Agreed

crumpet · 25/08/2024 10:46

It’s one thing to rehome a dog if you decide that it’s not compatible with your lifestyle (and a dog chewing is not a surprise so she should have done more research).

the bigger issue is that she’s apparently said she’s planning to adopt another one (according to X - have not checked if this is true). Given her low tolerance then she doesn’t appear to be someone who can offer a dog a good home

Sparklfairy · 25/08/2024 10:46

PETA published an open letter about this, begging her not to get another dog. They then offered to send her a mechanical toy puppy instead "which requires none of the care, patience, or commitment that a real one does".

Has she never seen Marley & Me? It's all part of having a dog. I'm pretty sure you could have a thread here about puppy destruction/antics and it would run and run. I have many, many stories of my own and I've only ever owned one dog!

OppsUpsSide · 25/08/2024 10:47

Was probably the straw that broke the camels back, she obviously wasn’t a good fit for that dog might be best for it to be rehomed.
If she’s getting a new puppy hopefully she will now put the effort into researching the breed and choosing a dog she can provide a good home to.
I’ve had 2 dogs successfully but it certainly doesn’t mean I could home any dog well.

DoxyWand · 25/08/2024 10:50

@OppsUpsSide how many dogs should she get and abandon before sticking to toys?
And if one of her kids "wasn't a good fit" ?
Dogs are not disposable!

I really hope the breeder of her next victim, sorry, puppy hears this and cancels the order. Mind you maybe it's one of these unethical puppy farmers.

I cannot stand her, smarmy smug champagne socialite with mediocre talent.

Dog had a lucky escape from being cooped up with her for the rest of its life.

I think it’s appalling to adopt a dog then ship it back because of something so trivial and that was her fault as an owner. Clearly no clue what it takes to train and look after a dog.

Waiting4Autumm · 25/08/2024 11:14

I've never been that bothered one way or the other about her but having listened to a few episodes of her and Miquita Oliver podcast oh my god they are both such smug self-righteous idiots
I think they come from a very vacuous lifestyles amd this does not surprise me at all about rehoming a poor pup for showing classic puppy behaviour

OppsUpsSide · 25/08/2024 11:14

Dogs are not disposable! Dogs are more easily re homed than children.
if she wants to rehome the dog because it chewed up some passports she absolutely should, doesn’t sound like the dog will benefit from staying.
if she wants a new dog, no one can stop her just because she rehomed the last one. But hopefully, this experience will mean she researches the breeds and chooses a dog she can home well.
People do rehome dogs whose behaviour they personally can’t manage for a variety of reasons and then go on to have other dogs successfully. It doesn’t mean she has the mark of the devil about her.

splatmouse · 25/08/2024 11:17

'Mediocre' talent? Gosh some of you are being very nice.

kiuy · 25/08/2024 11:24

If I heard correctly, this was a lockdown puppy? In which case, she wasn't doing anything except sitting around with her kids,
so would have had all the time in the world to properly house train a new
puppy.
And everyone knows that a puppy is basically a land shark and will go through a teething stage which seems endless (and destroys many things, my dining room table chair legs still show the scars)

AdviceNeeded2024 · 25/08/2024 11:24

@OppsUpsSide puppies and dogs chew things, they are naughty sometimes, it’s part of being a dog and they need training but you can’t prevent everything. You can’t just re home every animal you get because it does one naughty thing. She’s totally irresponsible and so far up her own arse it’s untrue.

The only good thing is the dog won’t end up stuck with her, the dog probably did it on purpose to get away from her!

DoxyWand · 25/08/2024 12:54

@OppsUpsSide I hope you are a troll!

@OppsUpsSide I'll ask you again...HOW MANY dogs should she be allowed to buy then re home?

I agree with you! (I don't think someone should have to keep a dog if the fit just doesn't work)

BUT I don't think she should get another dog. Or if she does, and this doesn't work (hopefully it does) then please, no more.

People are talking as if these are rare events - can’t help feeling dogs are dumped a lot - just not by celebrities so you don’t hear about it.
