Lily Allen rehomed her dog because it chewed her passport

DoxyWand · 25/08/2024 10:38

I've always disliked her!
She's complaining about the cost of replacement passports should she not have kept them safely tucked away?
And the kicker...she's about to buy a new puppy!
She was talking about this freely on the radio. Not even embarrassed!

@AngryBird6122 sorry to disappoint you with your attempted "gotcha" but I disagree with humans purposefully breeding animals. I only ever rehome existing animals. I never buy from a breeder.

There's no 'gotcha' but the whole thing could be deemed cruel, no? And that was not specifically to YOU 🙄I meant in general. How the fuck do I know if you have a dog or not?

DoxyWand · 25/08/2024 16:22

She shouldn't have got the damn dog in the first place if she couldn't deal with whatever needs it turned out to have! I'm starting to think quite a few people on here are hard of thinking.

Oh. My. God. Yes - maybe she shouldn't have. BUT SHE DID. So now what would you have preferred the outcome to be? Hopefully it will make her think twice in the future.

AngryBird6122 · 25/08/2024 16:24

@DoxyWand btw, this is a debate. I'm not going to start tearing you down personally or making little digs but if that's your vibe then go ahead.

DoxyWand · 25/08/2024 16:24

She's turned off comments on her instagram and deleted her twitter.

That's right, hide away! Coward.

It's the very best thing she could have done.

The dog had been with her for about 10 days - so at least it didn't have to suffer very long and could hopefully go on to lead a happy life. She clearly never wanted a dog, she wanted some kind of stuffed toy that never put a paw wrong even without supervision or training.

Hang on, the dog was with her 10 whole days?

This is despicable, also how many times in these 10 whole days did she have a dog Walker, a pet behaviourist and conversations with the home? AND go on holiday requiring a pet sitter?

See her own words in her statement.

10 fucking days, the dog stood zero chance.

She hides her intelligence well then. Hides her singing talent too

LOL this in spades. Utterly talentless and obnoxious and not very bright. Got a record deal purely because her dad is famous. Wouldn't have got a second glance from anyone otherwise.

@DoxyWand It's not just you. Despite people dissing you for your posts/disliking of Ms Allen, I don't know one single person who likes her.

JMSA · 25/08/2024 16:26

As we say in Glasgow, she's a total fud.

How the hell is that thinking twice

Well since she is that shit of an owner then it's great the dog has the chance to find a better home isn't it?

OppsUpsSide · 25/08/2024 16:26

then a lot of dogs will be homeless if you only rehome to people that can guarantee that they can meet whatever needs it turns out to have.

DoxyWand · 25/08/2024 16:12

@Musicofthespheres oh boo fucking hoo! She's upset because she's rightly getting a pile on. It's called "consequences".

The only vile thing here is Lily Allen and her pathetic apologists.

And don't you ever, ever try to shut down freedom of speech on animal cruelty, ironically, under the banner of "be kind"!

Listen to her original podcast! She LAUGHED about the rehoming. She does not take animal welfare seriously AT ALL.

What animal cruelty?

She's rehoming a pet because she and the dog are unsuited to one another. That is all. That is not cruelty by any stretch of the imagination; it is the right thing to do for the animal in the circumstances.

I find your stance perplexing, and you could not be more unreasonable if you tried.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 25/08/2024 16:30

This thread is just horrible tbh

loads of people get dogs they can’t handle by mistake and have to rehome

she’s already explained on her instagram the actual situation and how distressing her and her family are with horrible dms to her etc

this thread is just nasty tbh

DoxyWand · 25/08/2024 16:30

I've got a funny feeling this thread will go poof because Lily Allen has a lot of connections and she will play the mental 'elf and bullying cards to MNHQ.

So if I do lose you, high five to all the other animal champions out there, esp those of you who rehome! (Strokes cat I adopted when she was 12 and who I turned from vicious and "unhomeable" into eating out of my hand).

It is, and makes a mockery of actual animal cruelty. It's gross

She is the horrible one, not this thread.

Her "explanation" is pathetic and boo hoo to her being upset.

They won't be the only people, clearly.

I rehomed a rescue dog in 24 hours. Like fuck was it cat tested and rehomed due to 'the owner becoming ill'. The only reason I had no idea whether it had separation anxiety or not was because I didn't trust it to be left in the house for 30 seconds alone (or even without me holding onto the lead at all times) in case I came back to bits of cat spread up the walls.

It's possible that she was taken in by the 'Oh, it won't get too big, look how cuddly and cute it is, if nobody takes her, she'll be put to sleep' type of spiel that some rescue staff use to get animals homes and then a friend who knows dogs well said 'Are you sure that isn't a Newfoundland? It's not really a dog you could leave for the school run. It's better to hand it back now whilst it's still cute, rather than risk it not being able to be rehomed to somebody more experienced'.

But hey, you're the sort of person who sends hate mail to celebrities. I'm not convinced anything short of a court order would convince you otherwise.

Yes 10 days is awful and pathetic but I have known worse. The dog I have now had 3 new homes before we had him. One last 7 days, one 3 days and one ONE DAY!

They all knew he had been abused, never lived in a house so, obviously, was not house trained and was going to be hard work. We have had him 11 years and he has destroyed many many things and been very challenging but we would never have given up on him as we are dog lovers and not just pretend ones

Bodeganights · 25/08/2024 16:39

Well I don't know whether she is or isn't, I know nothing about her. LEt's see if she does get another.

What would you have preferred the outcome to be though?

I would have immensely preffered her to not get a dog in the first place.

It is very well known that many many shelter animals have issues. They cost a lot, need a lot of training and patience and room to move and a safe space like a kennel to hide in.
Often behaviourists and other outside help.
Apparently she gave no thought to this, decided in 10 days no less that she couldn't cope, a tiny bit of thinking would have seen her not get it.

And to compound all of that, stress on the dog might mean it needs to be put to sleep. Dogs need security and not getting that security time after time is terrible for their behaviour.

If she cant cope with that one, she did the right thing, but to go get a puppy is not the answer. How long will the puppy last, 2 weeks?

Btw I detested her from the grenfell fire, she was telling other people to have displaced persons from the fire in their own homes. But when asked if she was going to take some, ah, no, not her.

CoffeeAndSunrise · 25/08/2024 16:41

She's a twat and the dog is better off without her. I feel sorry for the next dog she gets though.

So you think it would have been better for 2 animals to live out the rest of their lives with people who didn’t want them, rather than be rehomed to someone who did (and no doubt gave them more interaction / better lives)?

Rehoming is not the worst thing that can happen to an animal.

I also find the comparison with children that some people are making highly distasteful. Dogs are not people.

And she's getting a puppy? 🤣 Well she's always been a few sandwiches short of a picnic.
