Anyone else feeling sad the school holidays are coming to an end?

I knew I would feel like this, I always do. One more week left and I'm feeling sad about it.
Dc are now counting down the days til they're back at school ( not in an excited way ).

Most people I have told this to in real life think I'm crazy and they can't wait til their dc are back at school.

I must follow after my mum as she always liked having us home.

Who else is feeling a bit sad about the holidays ending?

I'll miss the slow mornings and lie ins but certainly won't miss the bickering and whining!

Yeah I will miss getting up a bit later tbh but it’s a fair trade.

I know teaching is a really stressful job but are there any teachers ot TAs who are actually looking forward to going back?

Depends on the year.Grin

I'm a teacher and whilst I love the holidays, I can't wait to get back to see the children. I'm also really looking forward to being back in routine, to not spending a shed load of money and getting back to being able to give support to those families who need us.

When my children were little, I wished the holidays would go on forever. I was so sad when they ended each year. My 2 were always the best of friends, and they loved spending lots of time with each other. They still do.

I loved the days with them of building jigsaw walls and den building and carpet picnics and paddling pools and face painting and messy play and bike rides and ice creams and TV marathons and just dance and penny slots and play dates and Lego towns and board games and audio books and museums and learning new things and I could keep going!

Getting all reminiscent now.

I'm looking forward to going back because I love my job and I work well on constant adrenaline, even though I know full well that it'll ruin my heart one day.

But I've done it for a long time (so prep time is limited as I have a lot of resources and things that only need tweaking for each class now), I gel well with my colleagues and the kids tend to learn to trust me (I'm still new to my school, so this will take a few months). Despite the many challenges the job brings me joy.

I will miss time with my own children, who are so funny and make me proud, but time goes quickly and then we'll have half-term again, and I'm making the most of weekends.

September always feels like a new start, so I'll be back on the diet and various self-improvement attempts, too. It's November and February I can't stand. Too dark, damp, and so little to look forward to while everyone is moody and life feels like a bit more of a slog.

Yes! I work 3 days a week and have just had two weeks off work and Mondays is a BH. So I feel like I have been able to spend a lot of time with them.
DS my youngest is also starting reception next month so I think abit of saddest stems from that. I loved and will miss our days off together.

Saw a couple of my mum friends last week and they were counting down the days till the kids go back. I just went along with it for some reason 🤷‍♀️.
