They can be anything :)

I am looking forward to picking a new coat

Very cute and cosy looking outfits for my 2 DC

Getting into a nice hot bath and feeling all cosy and warm compared to cold skin! At the moment, baths are just meh in the Summer

Putting a White Company oil in my diffuser that’s for colder months

Feeling a bit sad about the Summer ending :(

The children going back to school 🥳

RaRaTa · 23/08/2024 19:12

My favourite season!
I live in the countryside, so I love the cosy country pubs starting to light their fires, the smell of the fallen leaves, the sound of the geese flying overhead as they get ready to migrate, the beautiful colours when you go walking in the woods. I find it a really magical time of year ❤️

ghostbusters · 23/08/2024 19:13

The wonderful colour of the countryside with the trees turning.
I went to a wedding near Dunkeld/Pitlochry in mid October a few years ago and the whole area was stunning!
Also love going for a walk through big piles of dried crunchy leaves.

I love autumn it’s my fave season. I love the feeling of a slight fresh chill in the air in the morning. The autumnal colours. Hot chocolate. Jumpers. Halloween. Getting cosy. Knowing it’s not long until the run up to Christmas.

I love the golden light of autumn, the way it slants through the trees. I can't wait to pick out pumpkins for my porch. Lighting candles and the fire is so cosy. I can't wait for this summer to be over!

NotALightPacker · 23/08/2024 19:31

I love Autumn so much. Cosy layers, candles, scarves and accessories, thick socks, boots, soups and casseroles.

I also find it easier to look smart and put together in Autumn and Winter. I feel like a bag lady in summer, nothing seems to hang or look right on me. Plus I inherited my Irish father's complexion so 2 minutes in the sun and I'm a crisped prawn or slathered in so much factor 30 that I'm a greasy mess.

I've already bought a couple of merino sweaters in anticipation and I was eyeing up boots this morning

My favourite season! Love the weather and it's our "birthday season" - the entire family have birthdays every 4-6 weeks from end of Aug until Christmas. Not quite so exciting now the children are teens/young adults, but I still enjoy it!

I also love Halloween, guy Fawkes etc, again not so exciting for the "children" in the house anymore, but I still love dressing up the house for the local children and watching the fireworks.

I'm such a child Blush

Applestrudel71 · 23/08/2024 19:32

Hot chocolate after coming in from the cold outside, blanket on the sofa, thick tights, slow cooker stew, candles when it gets darker earlier and of course… Applestrudel!

I agree about the easier to dress!

Luddite26 · 23/08/2024 19:34

Even trees next to the motorway look glorious as they change colour. I love Autumn. Looking forward to the routine again!

Theleaveswillbefalling · 23/08/2024 19:34

I love the start of Autumn. Not so much when it’s wet and getting much colder so I’m hoping for positive inspiration.

September resolutions (it’s like a new year to me).
Easy slow cooker meals
Standing on crunchy leaves
Warming herbal teas
Sunggling under blankets of the sofa
Going to bed early with a book
Not feeling like I should hang things on the washing line and just using the tumble drier

Motherrr · 23/08/2024 19:36

Blackberry picking, crisp autumn mornings, soup making, walks in the crunchy leaves :)

somethingothertoday · 23/08/2024 19:38

After a shockingly bad summer I think we are always guarantee a consistent autumn! Love the lights everywhere and lead up to Christmas

Hoglet70 · 23/08/2024 19:39

Pumpkin spice Yankee Candles, shutting the blinds early in the evening and plugging in the fairy lights, all the lovely colours on the trees....

C1N1C · 23/08/2024 19:39

I get woken up by a single photon of light and can't close doors (cats), hate the masks etc... so I look forward to the darkness creeping in :)

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 23/08/2024 19:41

Autumn is my favourite season too. Not sweltering hot, and the central heating doesn't have to work hard to keep the house toasty warm. It gets dark earlier so no guilt about not going out and getting stuff done outdoors, the perfect excuse to sit in a comfy chair and read until bedtime.

Dipping buttered bread into home made soup. Roast chestnuts. Jerusalem artichokes.

Putting summer clothes away, unearthing the winter duvet, snuggly long sleeved dresses and cosy cardigans.

Harvest festivals. Watching the garden change from summer to autumn colours, the leaves turning yellow and red, seeing them rimmed with frost in the early morning and then blowing like confetti in the autumn winds. Those perfect days when the air is crisp, the sky is blue, you can smell the fallen leaves.

My spirit animal is probably a bear, or some other (fat and grumpy) animal that is naturally inclined towards hibernation and perfectly content to spend the winter dozing happily in a snug nest.

DrPeculiar · 23/08/2024 19:42

My favourite time of year, my house is on the edge of/overlooks woodland and the colours are spectacular.

I find autumn/winter less demanding as people start to do more at home. I absolutely love it.

Also find dressing easier.

I'm not saying that we've spent a bit of time brambling but I wondered what the DDog was doing today and she was scoffing them straight from some brambles Grin

Elderflower14 · 23/08/2024 19:51

National Hunt Racing starting again... And Strictly...

Whatineed · 23/08/2024 19:56

Autumn colours and crunchy leaves when I'm out walking the dog.

I have loads of autumn tat that I love to decorate my house with.

Shopping for new boots.

Pumpkin soup - I have a lovely recipe with apple, topped with blue cheese and toasted walnuts.

Pumpkin stuffed ravioli.

Getting the raclette grill or fondue pot out for dinner with friends.

My work team have already booked our Schnitzel night in October in a restaurant that does the most amazing schnitzel with truffle cheese.

Enjoying the fire pit snuggled in a cosy fleece blanket.

Not having to mow the lawn. 😂

CrushingOnRubies · 23/08/2024 20:06

I look forward to dogs being allowed on the beaches again.
Going to places popular with holidaymakers without them being heaving but still have atmosphere not winter dead.
I like getting all warm cosy with hot chocolate and cuddling up
Shows like strictly and bake off returning

In the SE the summer holidays have had a lot of sunshine and mini heatwaves. We have another heatwave rolling in so it's going to be a while before we hit these lovely autumn days.

Next week is forecast to be"feels like" 30 degrees day after day.

At least it gets dark earlier.

GymClassHeroes · 23/08/2024 20:41

I love each season for different reasons & I always feel ready for the next one as it nears.
Autumn gives me a lovely nostalgic feeling every year.

I’ve been feeling abit sad about my oldest starting primary school but also looking forward to the autumn walks to & from school.

Halloween has always been one of my favourite festivals, so I look forward to that. We decorate the house & garden, it’s always fun & the kids love it too.

Dressing for the cooler weather, big jumpers, coats and boots.

I like the crisper, fresher mornings, especially if it’s sunny.

The leaves changing colour. Autumn walks through all the crispy fallen leaves.
Theres a big house near me which is covered in some type of Ivy. It turns the most stunning shade of red burgundy, some turn a deep plum colour. My dd collects the leaves & presses them in-between heavy books.

I like that we get the beaches back to ourselves once more, the summer visitors have gone home, the beaches are clean again & the roads are quieter.

Decorating my house for autumn. Nice mantle garland. Pumpkins in autumnal colors

Then re doing it for Halloween but in blacks etc
