I bled throughout the second trimester. Spotting and like a very light period. No explanation but I went for a few private scans for peace of mind. All turned out fine but it was very worrying at the time.

Fingers crossed for you.

TheHopefulMum · 19/08/2024 20:06

I had quite heavy bleeds multiple times with all 3 of my pregnancies and they all turned out fine.

Each time I was scanned they never did find a cause for the bleeds but all 3 pregnancies ended fine.

Keeping everything crossed for you!

I had brown spotting to start with and wasn’t worried but it’s progressed to heavy red blood 😔

My heart goes out to you OP.

I had this with ds2, who is now taller than me and about to start applying to university. I haven’t thought about the fact I had bleeding in his pregnancy for years, until I saw your thread. He is now a delightful and mature young adult, and has done fantastically well academically as well as winning a few sporting trophies on the way. I remember the fear I felt when I had to wait for a scan. I do hope everything is okay for you. Lots of other women have gone through this.

How soon can you find out if you have placenta previa! My placenta is anterior but that’s all they’ve said x

How heavy is heavy? If it's really heavy you should maybe go to a&e to be checked.

YourBusyTurtle · 19/08/2024 20:17

It seems I have to wait until Wednesday for NHS scan unless the bleeding becomes unmanageable in which case been told to go to A&e x

They said only go if I’m soaking a pad every 30 mins. I’d say it’s a ‘normal’ heavy period level x

I bled twice in my pregnancy. Once quite early on and they checked it all and it was fine. Never knew what it was. There was a suggestion baby knocked my cervix but she wasn’t very big (20 weeks I think) so I wasn’t convinced by this.

I’ve done quite a bit of walking this weekend and lifting my toddler etc, but nothing strenuous I’d say x

I had some bleeding in my first pregnancy, can't fully remember when but think I was around 15 weeks so similar to you. I managed to get a scan the same day and all was fine, they couldn't see any reason for the bleeding and just seemed to happen for no reason but then at my 20 week scan they found that I had placenta previa completely covering my cervix so this may have been the cause. I hope the bleeding stops for you and you can get some reassurance from your scan, it's awful that you can't get one sooner! Xx

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 19/08/2024 20:23

This happened to mynfriend and she went on to have a healthy TWIN pregnancy. Hope all ok op x

I would definitely say it’s a gush of blood like a fast running tap! Slows down a bit then when I stand up it does it again x

I had bright red bleeding with my DD at 8 weeks and 13 weeks. She was fine and no cause was determined. I was absolutely terrified, especially as my first pregnancy was a MMC and I was convinced something awful would happen the whole way through the pregnancy.

I vividly remember waiting days for the scans after the bleeding and googling for other peoples experiences. Each positive ending was such a reassurance. Thats actually how I got hooked on MN! I really hope yours is the same. It is much more common than you think. I'm sending you positive thoughts. Look after yourself ❤

Op I would just head to a and e and be seen.

As others have said bleeding can be fine, but it needs checked now at your stage. I had multiple losses, and it was horrific.

At 15 weeks please go and be seen. X

I had a lot of bleeding with my last pregnancy, I thought the worst, as you do. I was scanned and it was a subchorionic hematoma that wasn't there when they had scanned previously.
My daughter is 10 months and is currently snoring away in her cot bed.
Xx

I can just picture being told to wait there and then be told hours later to go to EPU tomorrow. What happened in your case if you don’t mind me asking? X

I just think they’ll make me wait for hours and tell me to go to EPU in the morning (they’re only open 9-5) x
