I had some niggles, but no major cramps. Almost felt fluttery like butterflies, very odd feeling.

Just try and bed rest yourself, no baths or swimming or heavy lifting, or sex. Hopefully the bleeding eases off. Can you get a private one tomorrow?

Yes I’ve had the butterfly feeling, I thought it was baby tbh. Thank you. I’m booked in tomorrow evening for a private one x

I had this.

Bled very heavily (painlessly) and routinely soaked clothes from 11w to 24 weeks when it randomly stopped.

It was a subchorionic hematoma and by all accounts at the time was a big one.

DS is 10 now.

TheGoddessMinerva · 19/08/2024 21:43

I bled in all my pregnancies.

The first of them is off to university soon.

They never worked out why, though apparently I did have a "fragile" cervix.

Hi @YourBusyTurtle I had exactly the same as you are describing at 11 weeks. I was sat down watching tv and thought I had wet myself. It was like a tap had been turned on. There was so much blood- bright red. Went to a&e they booked me for a scan 2 days later. As I’d already had 4 miscarriages I knew this was different I’d never experienced anything like this with them. Anyway I couldn’t wait so booked a private scan. It was a subchorionic hematoma. They didn’t pick it up on the nhs scan weirdly but I went back weekly for private scans and you could clearly see it. I bleed on and off for about 3/4 weeks. My 2 year old is now upstairs in bed. It’s the only sucsessful pregnancy I’ve ever had. I hope this gives you some comfort. Sending you lots of love x

I've just seen you are in Gloucestershire, it was 11 years ago I was pregnant with my first and had the bleeding, back then I called Stroud and they said I should call Gloucester maternity triage directly as I was not far enough along to be seen there. Gloucester asked me to come straight in. I've just googled and this is their advice line 0300 422 5541 is it worth calling them?

pambeesleyhalpert · 19/08/2024 21:44

FWIW in my due date group there were a lot of bleeders with healthy babies xx

Teateaandmoretea · 19/08/2024 21:45

Oh OP you poor thing.

I will be hoping and praying for you - I can only tell you I was the queen of pregnancy bleeding - all stages from 5 to 25 weeks. All colours, red, brown, prune juice etc etc.

It’s good you have a scan tomorrow. Stay positive. It’s likely a haematoma.

My dds are 12 and 15. I never unlike most women had a miscarriage but boy I bled.

i was a regular at Warwick EPU. Maybe worth a try first thing???

Ophy83 · 19/08/2024 21:45

Bright red bleeding in both pregnancies at various points from 7-22 weeks. Both babies absolutely fine, I think it was something up with my cervix as they mentioned possibly cauterising but never actually did

TheGoddessMinerva · 19/08/2024 21:45

And good luck. <hugs>

Allthecatseverywhereallatonce · 19/08/2024 21:47

I had this constantly throughout my whole pregnancy it was so very stressful. I now have a moody 16 year old to show for it.
Sending positive thoughts for Wednesday.

PinkFizz1 · 19/08/2024 21:48

Good luck for tomorrow OP

I think I’d be going to A and E

JacquiDaytona · 19/08/2024 21:50

SCH here too, floods of blood, huge clots and pain. Had absolutely no idea that a tiny fetus could survive all this. First one was around 6 weeks, and another about 15 weeks. It had completely resolved by the 20week scan. Good luck - all is not lost.

Unfortunately you can’t call Gloucester triage until 16 weeks 😔 thank you though xxx

Would they not have seen this on the scan I had last week? Xx

Possibly - I don’t think mine was picked up until after the bleed though, I have no idea why. I had IVF so had regular early scans - had a viability scan about 5 weeks which was all fine.

Thumbelinahope · 19/08/2024 21:52

Hello
Sorry to hear you are going through this.

I experienced this with 3 of my 4 pregnancies. I never got an answer as to why I was bleeding. During my third pregnancy I had to get a blood transfusion due to the amount of blood I lost.
It is really difficult to say what is causing it, but it is a fairly common experience, especially during these weeks.

I would contact nhs 24, tell them you are experiencing some pain with bleeding and they will hopefully see you and scan you today/tonight.

It is such a horrible thing to go through because it is obviously alarming and scary and you do think the worst is happening.

Big hugs and I hope the bleeding stops.

Likemyjealouseel · 19/08/2024 21:53

I had this with vasa previa, baby was fine

Ap42 · 19/08/2024 21:53

It's really common. I bled with my first pregnancy from the day after I found out I was pregnant, all the way upto 20 weeks. He's now 12! It happened again with my second pregnancy and she's now 9. I know it's terribly worrying, I remember the fear so well. I hope it all works out for you x

ijustneedtokeepbreathing · 19/08/2024 21:54

I bled quite a bit in my second pregnancy at around 12 weeks. No cramps or pain, but quite a lot of blood. It was ok.

Thinking of you op and hope you are alright. It's so terrifying.

Who knows?

Bizarrely having had bleeding with dd1 from 5 to 11 weeks I was told at my scan that I had a haemotoma and not to be alarmed if I suddenly had a big bleed. It didn’t actually happen 🤔

But with dd2 I had a bleed at 25 weeks without no talk of haematoma. They thought I was having a placental abruption and I was admitted to labour ward. I’m getting teary just typing about it, I was absolutely terrified.
