Hi,
What is this thread about?
I can't tell from the title, the 30 or so posts I've read so far, or the pictures of cats.

Is this an in-joke or can anybody join?

It's about politics a mainly!

People post pictures of cats (dogs/flowers and other wildlife welcome)

And occasionally we talk about RL!

But it's mainly about politics and our opinions on latest.

But it's a bit quiet since scandals have decreased and they've gone on recess.

But it does mean more cat pics 😍

But it's a bit quiet since scandals have decreased and they've gone on recess

And yet somehow we manage to get to 1000 posts surprisingly quickly 😂

itsgettingweird · 20/08/2024 08:12

That's true 😂

I like your plate.

I had crumpets yesterday. I once made them from scratch- never again. They turned out great, but what a faff!

BIWI · 20/08/2024 08:25

I see the MSM is already starting to stir up trouble by sticking the boot into Sue Gray.

Report was in the Guardian a few days ago, which I can't find now, but it's in the FT too:

Sue Gray wasn't nice to Boris even when before the Partygate report came out, Johnson and the Tories couldn't praise her enough Confused

My breakfast.

How could you!

I have none in and really want two!
AND you have toasted them just how I like them. Pah!

itsgettingweird · 20/08/2024 08:50

Crumpets are fabulous in the air fryer!

I don't tend to buy them for me as the GF are expensive.

But when I do ..... oooohhhhhh the pleasure Grin

Yes, those crumpets are toasted to perfection @L1ttledrummergirl There is nothing worse than a flabby, underdone crumpet🤢

itsgettingweird · 20/08/2024 09:14

I think flabby underdone crumpet just about describes me 👀😂

But yes crumpets need to be properly toasted and covered in enough butter to run through it and onto the plate!

MissMarplesNiece · 20/08/2024 09:34

I had a photo of Chippie to post to pay my tax but my phone had gone weird and won't let me post photos. Sadly I think a new phone may be in order, although in the spirit of refuse, repair, recycle etc I might see if I can get this one fixed.

countrygirl99 · 20/08/2024 09:36

I like cheesy crumpets best. Wherever I try to post a picture of my dogs it tells me the photo is too big and needs to be under 6mb even when it is well under 6mb.

As I Brummie I'm feeling annoyed because a report commissioned to look at Bham Council debt and subsequent cuts to services, is very critical of the Commissioner who was sent in by Gove to get our council ship-shape again. I think that the general conclusion is that the Commissioner couldn't wait to weald (sp?) his axe and sell off assets when there are more sustainable ways of managing the debt. The debt may not actually be as big as the Commissioner claims because no proper audit has been done. I hope Angela Rayner is looking at this as part of her remit - it may not be too late to get Bham Council on a debt management plan that saves services, protects assets and gives us proper funding going forward.

Gove, was there anything that man touched that didn't turn to shit? Am also annoyed by our Labour Councillors who nodded through the cuts without any questions - like has there been a proper audit, why not etc. The report was commissioned by Unite, Unison & GMB.

Despite 15 years of asking BCC has been unable to explain why it's best-the-20th-century-can-offer portal has to be custom built from the ground up at a cost of several millions, when any number of off the shelf packages - some FOSS - could have provided 10x the functionality (and aesthetics) for a few hundred thousand.

Those disclaimers remind me of the facebook status's my mums mates would post declaring that they didn't give facebook permission to use their photos or whatever. That'll show em lads! Arse totally covered there. 👍🏻

Today on conspiracy X, useful idiots are sharing an advert for gullible followers to become Russian hostages (sorry, "escape Western liberal ideals"). Although if this lot want to volunteer, maybe we should let them?

ICYMI, Vladimir Putin is inviting foreigners to spend 3 months in a Russian jail, until he needs to trade them for a mass murderer held by the west. Sorry, enjoy "safe haven" on a 3 month visa in a country "where traditional values reign supreme".

The useful idiots here including Lozza and Alex Jones. Hopefully they may feel the need to bit their money where their mouth is and leave the UK. Be a bit of a pity to have to exchange them in a hostage exchange.

Since Brum was mentioned, a deep dive from a local paper (part of a network) into how the pandemic laid the ground for an idiocracy (my summary).

That looks good. Send them all over there, and then when they become hostages - "nope, we don't want them back anyway"...
