Yes please spare me what men earn; that really takes the biscuit

Not treating cancer patients is a genius idea from Truss. It’s got just the right balance of bodies piling high and privatising healthcare. With an added touch of reducing welfare payments.

Clearly we made a mistake by chucking her out after 49 days.

Saschka · 27/08/2024 21:33

@Owlbookend I am hoping those are all Tory bots, along the lines of the “Vat on school fees” threads.

I hope so anyway, it would be horrendous to realise that many tone deaf hard done by millionaires frequent MN.

I see the research department at the University of the Bleeding Obvious has been working hard for it's grants again...

Just think how many people would never have reached old age slashing the social welfare issue at the same time. I tell you, the woman was gravely misjudged.

Just out of interest the average income of the top 10% last year was just under £67k and only 4% in the UK earn over £100k. They do seem to be over represented on Mumsnet though.

Yes they do now you've pointed out that stat.

Exactly.

This story can’t be true. But it also sounds like exactly the sort of mad thing you can imagine Truss saying.

Facts eh ?

When my mind is in idle, I do sometimes mull over stats in my head, it's quite calming. It's also a great way to spot the idiots in life who swallow numbers without a seconds thought. And the main reason why anyone who is remotely comfortable with numbers cannot be allowed near the public.

Anyone remember Professor Hannah Fry on HIGNFY during COVID demolishing some bollocks stats with a few off the tongue calculations ? Although she did translate one into English as "a fucking big number" 😀

The Tory leadership candidate who painted over Disney murals said on GMB that he wouldn’t have honoured independent review body 5.5% pay awards for 5.5m key workers

No surprise there then

None at all. Good job he’s unlikely to ever be in a position to make that kind of decision.

It really isn't, just waiting for my assessment now I've added all of my evidence. Not looking forward to the experience of it all...

It it helps, I had my assessment last year, in person. The lady was lovely, and I was awarded the lowest daily living.

Remember it’s about how you’re effected, not your conditions xxx

It amuses me that the brain dead Tories think parading the same losers who were definitely told to fuck off *on 4th July as leader is a route to power.

They won't even be near a sniff of power until their entire front bench - leader and all - are completely removed from 2010-2014. To the extent that I suspect the first MP with a shot has not yet been elected.

*In bold as they appear to not be hearing what the electorate said. And it was hardly a whisper in the grass was it. How else do you explain a plunge to 120 seats (which I also suspect isn't the lowest they are going to go).

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/08/2024 14:05

It’s much more important to get the five seats they lost to reform back than to get the ones they lost to the Lib Dems and Labour back.

newnamethanks · 28/08/2024 15:34

Perfectly put Serendipity`.

pointythings · 28/08/2024 15:48

I'd love to see the Tories drop more seats at the next GE. Absolutely love it.
Meanwhile on the home front, DS has been in touch with his uni because his original dissertation supervisor left, leaving him up in the air (they assign topics rather than the students being allowed to choose). But he's been offered a meta-analysis project on a topic that he is absolutely passionate about, it's desk based and it's working with a PhD student under the supervision of DS' favourite professor. So good study times ahead.

DD is home - the relationship couldn't be salvaged. She and her DP have both been incredibly adult about it; rather than getting acrimonious, they have both agreed that this is a 'step down' back to being friends. I think theyt may well be able to make it work. DD is going to focus on finishing her masters here, then start job hunting. It'll be nice to have someone in the nest for a while.

Hi everyone. I've been reading, and finding peace in this thread. Even though I haven't contributed much.

Can't believe the amount of gaslighting going on wrt the recent RW riots.🤯

itsgettingweird · 29/08/2024 08:02

I'll add the good news that we went to Thorpe Park yesterday. It's so accessible. Goes to show what can be done when the mind is put to it.
Ds gets a ride access pass and they gave him one for step free access and many rides were level or they had lifts up to them. You can even ride the rides if you can't walk (ds can - mostly!) as they have harnesses in case of emergency. It's still quite hilly but they can't change the terrain and his mate and I took turns at pushing when needed!

They also had factor 50 suncream dispensers and loads of free water dispensers to top up bottles - all free. Plus cooling stations which were fans with a mist of water. They were great fully revived as it was 29° at one point!

He's still wrecked today 🫣

countrygirl99 · 29/08/2024 08:29

@itsgettingweird sounds like a great day.

Zonder · 29/08/2024 09:09

That's so impressive @itsgettingweird

New thread in Politics is interesting - explains why the actual state of the country wasn't fully known by Labour in advance. Really annoys me when people say it shouldn't have been a surprise because it was all fully known. As if we could have expected any actual transparency.
