Meanwhile on the home front, DS has been in touch with his uni because his original dissertation supervisor left, leaving him up in the air (they assign topics rather than the students being allowed to choose). But he's been offered a meta-analysis project on a topic that he is absolutely passionate about, it's desk based and it's working with a PhD student under the supervision of DS' favourite professor. So good study times ahead.
DD is home - the relationship couldn't be salvaged. She and her DP have both been incredibly adult about it; rather than getting acrimonious, they have both agreed that this is a 'step down' back to being friends. I think theyt may well be able to make it work. DD is going to focus on finishing her masters here, then start job hunting. It'll be nice to have someone in the nest for a while.
