What do YOU want for Christmas?

It has happened… I’ve been asked what I wanted for Christmas, whilst a loved one was visiting today.

So what do YOU want for Christmas?

I would like to have given birth (due 19th) so I can enjoy a fat Christmas dinner without a baby squashing my organs!

HowIrresponsible · 18/08/2024 21:32

I would like a permanent home.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 18/08/2024 21:35

To travel back in time to a time BC (before cancer), I would love my husband back, fit and healthy. I hate that his last Christmas was spent bedbound, unable to speak and I am not really sure how much he understood by then.

bubblesummerxx · 18/08/2024 21:39

Dyson air wrap

chimchiminey · 18/08/2024 21:41

@HowIrresponsible I hope you get that, early!

I’d like some Le Creuset. Some good quality tea leaves. And new sheepskin slippers. The kids all have them but I just get myself cheapo things.

Covidwoes · 18/08/2024 22:04

@80skid not much of a chance sadly! I've had 2 nights in the house myself in six years!

Bjorkdidit · 18/08/2024 22:04

Wouldn't it just be easier for people to just buy the things they want, when they want them, instead of asking other people to buy them for Christmas?

If they buy something off your list and you buy something off their list, it's not exactly exchanging carefully chosen gifts is it? It's just making life more complicated than it needs to be.

So what I'd like is for people to stop going through a charade that serves no purpose at all and obliges people to put together lists so other people can buy things off them and pat themselves on the back that they've bought a wonderful present.

Just get together as normal and enjoy company, nice food, conversation, walks and crap TV. No gifts required.

In an ideal world, that we can't afford, I'd love a pair of handmade boots. My feet are very fat and nothing fits properly. Also I'd love a properly fitted bra. A lovely leather notebook. A good quality Dutch oven, marble rolling pin, a watercolour of our house. New cushions for the swing hammock. A beautiful fountain pen to write in the aforementioned notebook. A long runner for the back hall.

Honestly so many things. I'm sure I won't get any and that's ok. It's just my dream.

YellowphantGrey · 18/08/2024 22:17

A circular body pillow
Book vouchers
Cosy socks
New jigsaws
New coffee machine.

OooohAhhhh · 18/08/2024 22:18

Money and lots of it!

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle perfume. I wore it on my wedding day a few years ago and have asked DH for some more, I loved it 🥰
Also maybe a pair of sketchers and some comfy pj's!

Lidl do a really good dupe... I went to Debenhams a few years ago to choose a new perfume from my Dad for Christmas. I loved Coco Mademoiselle but couldn't justify the price tag. Got the dupe recommendation on here and have very happily been wearing it since.

We have a watercolour of our house. We paid £40 for it and it's really lovely. It was done by an Art student from the local college who wanted to paint various houses in the area. He was using them for a project but let us buy after.

It might be worth asking your local college if there's one for similar?

Dyson air wrap

I hope Santa is good to you. I love my air wrap multi styler that I got last year.

I’m thinking about an ice bath for this year.

Danikm151 · 18/08/2024 22:22

I would really love a carpet cleaner.

today my mom asked if I want a care package for xmas again- I enthusiastically said yes- fancy shampoo, conditioner, face wipes, razors. All the stuff that I get the cheaper version of because of tiny human. Can’t wait 😄

Where do you go, eggandchip?

EvilNextDoor · 18/08/2024 22:25

A puppy 🐾 (before I get jumped on my dog had to be put to sleep a few weeks ago and any puppy we get will be my “gift” to myself if I get one now or later on)

A sage coffee machine (no hope but on my list)

A fluffy dressing gown and decent slippers

thursdaymurderclub · 18/08/2024 22:27

i dread this question every year... i have all that i want and need and don't see the point in wasting money on something that will sit in a drawer.

hubby and i no longer buy each other gifts, we treat ourselves too a weekend away on the build up to christmas.

2AND2GC · 18/08/2024 22:28

A few days of total, selfish indulgence:

A massage, a run, some nice meals out/ no cooking. Snuggling up watching something good on telly. Early nights, long sleeps, lie-ins.

CrushingOnRubies · 18/08/2024 22:30

To spend Christmas with DP. He's due to be away over Christmas for work but it's all a bit up in the air. If not actual Christmas some time together between Christmas and new year would be lovely.

I’m so sorry Flowers. Puts a lot of things in perspective.

To finish work on the 20th December and not go back until the 6th of Jan.
