Can anyone recommend a really lovely, long lasting reed diffuser please?

I know not everyone likes them, but can those of you who do, have any recommendations for a lovely, long-lasting one. I usually buy Valente ones, which smell glorious but they only seem to last about 4 weeks and they've dried up. They're not especially cheap either and I don't have a lot of spare dosh at the moment. Noted that they are hardly an essential, but they are a wee hint of joy that I like in my kitchen. 😊

I was bought an Ortigia Sicilia Fico D'India diffuser as a gift 8 years ago. I loved the scent so when it eventually ran out (after 2/3 years!) I bought a refill, expensive but 500ml. That has still not all been used. It is expensive but lasts so long that it probably works out much cheaper eventually.

It is this one: https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/product/ortigia-siciliafico-d%27india-diffuser-200ml401-3006164-601/?previewSize=200ml&gaddsource=1&gbraid=0AAAAADr4D5h3myq1QXwhoZ0L9bGItCuB-&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImeX11fr8hwMVdYBQBh0WpTIcEAQYAyABEgIppDDBwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

This is very expensive but you can get a refill bottle/ get it on sale, for around £30-40. It lasts forever

Don’t tell people about this one. I like to keep it as a secret. If you like it it’s really nice alongside an additional vanilla one from anywhere thrown in for a change

I use the Aldi ones and they are great for me. You can now buy refills as well.

Arran Aromatics, smell wonderful and really last.

I got a really excellent one from tkmaxx but unfortunately, I've forgotten the brand. Have a browse there.

I really rate these. I’ve re ordered twice.
small company and great scent and lasts months. Also the car scents are dinky and work perfectly.

@GalacticalFarce It’s probably from Ashleigh & Burwood as I’ve got some of theirs from TK Max before.

Bamford (Daylesford) diffusers last an incredibly long time - but are expensive!

Wimbledonmum1985 · 18/08/2024 08:09

I love the Aery range. Gorgeous fragrance that lasts ages.

quickturtle · 18/08/2024 08:10

Start with just two or three reeds it will last much longer

opalring · 18/08/2024 08:14

Another one recommending St Eval.

Exactly the same experience with Valentte!
My latest one was so strong I had to move it into a corner but after a month it's almost finished!
Gorgeous fragrances but I think the opening must be too big hence they are strong but for a shorter time.

Another vote for Sicilia Fico d'India.
I also have the perfumed crystals which come in a lovely box with a top up oil and which have lasted since Christmas!

Floral street ones are lovely.

Apparently reducing the sticks can make them last longer I read in a reed diffuser site but can’t remember .. it might be valente

Facade1983 · 06/02/2025 12:25

I'm going to retract my recommendation for Essence Vault. My first diffuser from them was gorgeous and long lasting, but when I ordered another it smelt slightly different, and made my eyes sting and my skin tingle. I contacted them and they told me the recipe hadn't changed, but that I should stop using it immediately....

Dunnes used to do a beautiful long-lasting French Pear & Lily one for £4 which to me smelled a bit like Chanel 5 but they have discontinued it 😞.

Dunnes often do a candle that is a definite dupe of Chanel No. 5
The name changes. I've had Moonlit Wood and Midnight Jasmine. Both smell of Chanel No 5.
They sell out really quickly
They're not advertised as such, the way Aldi's Jo Malone dupes are.

Pootle40 · 06/02/2025 19:43

Stoneglow or Valente

GabrielOakRose · 06/02/2025 19:49

Hassett Green Just Rose is lovely

Saggyknickers · 06/02/2025 19:51

I buy I lot of reed diffusers and honestly, the best one I've had is an opso one (the citrusy one) that was about £8 from Waitrose.

It's the only one I've had where I consistently got a lovely whiff of it in the hallway and up the stairs every time I went past. You've just reminded me I need to buy another one actually!

You get nose blind to the smell after a while.

I like Rituals Reed diffusers, I pick 2 different scents and alternate them, just keep the stopper and put the reeds in a bag. The Private Collection ones last ages, remember to turn the reeds around too as that increases the smell.

Another vote here for Rituals. Hammam and Mehr are my favourites.

EmmaStone · 07/02/2025 16:39

Another for the mix, but I find these by True Grace last a really really long tiome, and their scents are lovely. I only buy on sale (actually, I've never bought from JL, I've found them in other places):

DeclansAFeckingDream · 09/02/2025 11:35

Valente smell lovely but I just don't find that they last very long at all.
