If we suddenly had to go into a 3 month lockdown again, how would you feel?

I think people would definitely comply. If it was Mpox I would want a smallpox vaccine as it's somewhat effective.

And the lockdown dogs are still shitting everywhere

namechangeforthisi · 18/08/2024 09:20

Prenelope · 18/08/2024 09:15

All I remember was my quiet rural idyll absolutely over run with lockdown dogs shitting everywhere, and litter and bottles of piss thrown out of delivery van windows.

Hmm well that's horrible.
I agree Covid was real. It left me with asthma and I nearly died from an attack. I ended up on IV steroids hardly able to breathe for hours

Prenelope · 18/08/2024 09:20

Yes - and a lot went for rehoming. Poor dogs.

PianPianPiano · 18/08/2024 09:24

They said do people still believe that when I said covid was real and how it impacted my life

You also said that lockdown was needed to protect people, and I suspect that it was they were responding to.
Lockdown was never to protect people, the original comms about it made that very clear actually. It's purpose was to slow the rate of the deaths so as not to overwhelm the NHS and therefore completely render the country inoperable. You'll remember I'm sure the "flatten the curve" narrative. That flattened curve wasn't about fewer deaths, it was about the same number of deaths happening over a longer period.

Mespher · 18/08/2024 09:24

My basal cell carcinoma got worse and I had to have a bigger chunk chopped out as I couldn't be doing with all the isolating and stuff like that to have it dealt with so left it until Covid was over. Lucky I had a private dentist so only missed one appointment when it was closed for about 3 months, I think it was

I'd love it. The last one was fantastic. I lived alone, the sun shone, I was furloughed and I lived far enough away from any family that they couldn't get to me even if they were allowed! I would welcome another lock down!

I can't get over this selfish attitude.

Child abuse rocketed because they were locked up with their abusers. As did domestic violence.

People lost their businesses.

Childrens education lost they will never get back.

A sharp rise in developmental issues for young children.

Cancer treatment stopped. Operations cancelled.

The deceased buried alone. families not allowed to say their final goodbyes.

The economy absolutely destroyed.

Mental health and addiction rocketed.

Please people just google the statistics on the effects of lockdown the next time you say how lovely yours was.

They did not "work"

I don’t understand how people can be so selfish to say they loved lockdown?!
how could you possibly have loved it?
children and teenagers missing out on schooling and peer interaction leading to the mental health crisis we are going through atm.
financially the country is on its knees because of the lockdowns
people are still suffering psychologically from it.

and you say you had a wonderful time?
how is that even possible?

all of you that say how much fun you’ve had on the back of the suffering of others how can you come out and say you loved lockdowns?

can’t you see hypocritical this is??

Why is it selfish for people to say they enjoyed it? Yes some of us had an horrific time but it wasn't because Alice at number 8 was sitting out in the sunshine, eating freshly baked banana bread and enjoying every second. She could have worn a hair shirt whilst self-flagellating, none of which would have made any difference to what happened to me or anybody else. So good for anyone who got through it with a smile on their face...I only wish I was one of them.

We was in lock down until the vaccine was available then they opened up. The poster was saying they where saying they don't believe covid exists but if you don't believe me ask them if they think covids real

CrunchyCarrot · 18/08/2024 09:37

InkyPinkyPonky24 · 17/08/2024 09:30

That's another issue in itself. I don't think a lot of people would have a rushed through vaccine again. I know I wouldn't as the Covid one ruined my health permanently

There will be no 'rushed through' vaccine because we already have a vaccine! Plus we have TWO excellent antivirals apparently. So we aren't in any way in a position we were in when SARS-CoV-2 first started circulating.

CrunchyCarrot · 18/08/2024 09:46

@Perzival TWiV episode #1141

Talk about mpox starts at 6:00 minutes in, but it's only for around 10 mins.

discoballdave · 18/08/2024 09:47

It won't happen with MPox. It's a sexually transmitted infection, not airborne. However, I really wouldn't mind.

Differentstarts · 18/08/2024 07:38

You do realise a lot of people died from covid and a lot have long covid right. The lockdown was needed to protect people until a vaccine was available

Yeah
The vaccine did nothing
Can't believe people are still going on about it
Do your research on stats

Boxina · 18/08/2024 09:51

Personally I really enjoyed lockdown. I was working 3x my usual hours (in the NHS from home) and also running a local mutual aid group, and I really liked being with my kids and going out for quiet walks and everywhere being quiet and empty.

So I would do it again if it was necessary.

I did wish I was on furlough though! My friends who were had a really lovely time doing hobbies etc and I was working loads.

However, I know for others it was awful, and I think people should have been able to be with their loved ones who were ill or dying. It was inhumane not to allow that.

RandomUserName96 · 18/08/2024 10:09

XenoBitch · 15/08/2024 23:08

No, I would not. The Covid lockdowns cost me my sanity and nearly my life. I will not be doing it again.

All the while, the rich and the powerful could do whatever they wanted.

The way the government treated lockdown last time means they would struggle to call another any time soon

ButterOllocks · 18/08/2024 10:11

I had a lovely feeling having my family home safe under my roof - but would think the vast majority would not comply

Again, how would any of that have been any different if those who enjoyed lockdown spent the entire time being miserable? I could argue that me thinking everyone else should not be having a good time because I wasn't, is just as selfish.

inamarina · 18/08/2024 10:26

Mespher · 15/08/2024 23:50

So what about the people that work at the likes of Tesco and Amazon, they would still have to work, keeping the country supplied while we are keeping ourselves safe.

Would everyone stay at home, locked down, the NHS, I think not.

Exactly. Someone on here said they’d happily lock down if they could continue receiving home deliveries. Oh, the irony 🙄

To all of the people who loved lockdown, have your own one now then, what’s stopping you? Why does everyone else have to join in with it? Knock yourselves out.

Oh how narrow minded you are if you think it’s ok for people to say they loved it.

That's a different strain. The current mpox strain detected in Sweden etc has a worryingly high mortality rate amongst children (who are obviously not sexually active), so I absolutely would be locking down again to protect my child if it comes to that.

I think it's fine for people to say they enjoyed it (I am not one of them, I hated it) I don't think it's fine to say they wish it would happen again.

The high mortality rate is against impoverished children in very poor countries, it's not comparable to this country.

It's mutated and is now transmissible by surfaces ect which is why now their concerned

All kinds of infectious diseases (syphilis, for example) are technically transmissible via surfaces and bedding, but in practice rarely spread that way.

Lock yourself down if you want. I won’t be joining you.

They probably won’t be paid generously for sitting on their arse if they had their own lockdown.
