What can you hear right now?

I'm trying to concentrate and finish off a report to send tonight but all I can do is try not to laugh as I can hear the DCs having a 'song off' on the piano and the keyboard in the music room.
One is playing Keane 'Somewhere Only We Know' and the other is bashing out Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars' 🙉

What can you currently hear?

There's a festival going on about 10 miles from me. I can hear the drum and base wafting over the airwaves. Obviously the dog thinks we're about to be attacked by marauding hordes, so has been barking on and off since Thursday

Wind in the trees and an aeroplane in the sky.

BBC coverage of the Olympics closing ceremony. My kids hammering the floor and shouting upstairs with excitement from their gaming PCs. And a sort of ringing in one of my ears. It's been blocked up with wax for almost a week, and still 10 days until I can get it looked at. So I can only really hear half the usual volume around me.

They're good kids really and it was actually quite lovely to hear them on the instruments, all very good natured.

My children in the tent in the garden - they're not as quiet or stealthy as they think they are, I can hear the sweet wrappers from here.

And the faint hum of the fridge freezer. DP and DS1 are out so just DS2 and me here. Very quiet.

Aeroplanes. Airport has been very busy today - first ones woke me up at 6 this morning and they’re still coming and going now 😕

Me too! 😔 3 years now. I miss silence.

Distant traffic, the wind rustling a palm tree, a ceiling fan, my dog snuffling over her toy, a tawny owl screeching, clock ticking.

Thunder and lightning at the moment where I am.

I can only hear the roaring fan of my elderly laptop, DS's feet scampering from bathroom to bedroom, a passing car outside and my fingers typing this.

Might have to put Keane on now.
