30 and yes. My very sporty, far fitter than me, DP can barely reach his knees though.

I sit cross-legged/half lotus all the time as well. I can't squat on my heels though, I think my bum is too big and pulls me over. Grin

Theotherone234 · 08/08/2024 19:15

59, minor stroke 6mo ago, long legs and I can put my hands flat on the floor whilst wearing 4" heels and with my legs together.

Family genetics (form of hypermobility)

I can also bite my toes

Can't do the splits though

Did yoga once and it put my back out.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 08/08/2024 19:15

Nope, never could. I’m 70.
Couldn’t do somersaults, cartwheels, anything gymnastics-wise as totally unsupple.
I put it down to being born naturally and an extended breech with my feet up behind my ears (my poor mother 😖)
My hips and back just won’t let me!

CountingMeIn · 08/08/2024 19:16

Are we meant to be locking our knees?

Benvolio · 08/08/2024 19:20

50 and hands flat, BUT I have never been able to sit crossed-legged. I only have flexibility in one plane!

dudsville · 08/08/2024 19:22

I have an exactly even top to bottom ratio. I'm mid 50s and don't do stretches or yoga. I can comfortably touch the ground, palms flat.

My MIL could still do it in her early 80s, and she wasn't into stretching or yoga or whatever.

sanityisamyth · 08/08/2024 19:23
  1. Never been able to touch them as my knees hyperextend and I have very short calf muscles.
PirateJim · 08/08/2024 19:23

Yes, I can and I’m 65. Can you stand on your tiptoes for 10 seconds?

Probateprobs · 08/08/2024 19:23

42 and can put hands flat on the floor. I'm tall with short legs which probably helps.

Yes 69 and I do Ballet Fit up to 3 times a week. Can stand on tiptoes and one one leg for several minutes.

IncompleteSenten · 08/08/2024 18:35

50 and I cant even see the fuckers.

🤣

Meadowwild · 08/08/2024 19:26

60 – I can put my hands almost flat on the floor before warming up and flat once warmed up. Definitely able to touch my toes.

I find this so hard. I try. I can stand on one leg for ages. But tiptoes are a challenge.

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 08/08/2024 19:29

56 and yes

and I'm a fat American (really, I am LOL)

Simonjt · 08/08/2024 19:30

36 and yes, I can also do the splits (both ways).

Ilovewillow · 08/08/2024 19:30

52 and yes!

TulipTuesday · 08/08/2024 19:30

44 and yes with hands flat on the floor. I’m a bit overweight and unfit.

My 19yo sporty DS can’t but he has tight hamstrings.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 08/08/2024 19:30

51 hands flat on floor.I'm hypermobile though and being able to do this doesn't show fitness levels. My physio is super fit but can't get anywhere near her toes...she just doesn't have bendy joints.Whilst I'm very flexible but have dodgy joints.

AnybodyAnywhere · 08/08/2024 19:30

69 Yes 😊

LaurieFairyCake · 08/08/2024 19:31

54

Yes, hands flat on ground

halava · 08/08/2024 19:32

67 - Yes I can and I'm not an Obama either!

I can stand on one leg for 10-15 second and then get the leg wobbles. I can get out of bed in one go with no groans (yet), and I can put my socks on standing up (well most of the time lol).

I don't do any yoga or gym or swimming, just walking, fast (ish) pace every day and on the way back carry 5 + Kilos in my backpack with shopping. I make it my business to pass a shop on my walk as I can't walk aimlessly like in a prison yard, there has to be a focus!

Old age will catch up with me, but for now I'm happy enough with what I've got. I'll never be twenty again anyway so gotta be realistic.

Inextremis · 08/08/2024 19:32

65 and - so it turns out - yes. I hadn't tried for years until I saw this thread! I can also get up from sitting on the floor without using my hands - and I'm far from fit, and rather podgy.

EVHead · 08/08/2024 19:32

57, yes, but I do Pilates and need to keep doing stretches for tight hamstrings.

Ilovemyshed · 08/08/2024 19:33

52 and no. Never have been able to.

EBearhug · 08/08/2024 19:34

52, easily with flat hands. I can also do the squat, but my knees tend to complain about it. I do yoga regularly though. I can do a handstand still. Don't know about a cartwheel - no room for it inside and too wet to try outside.
