9 adults - one gluten free (intolerance). No other dietary requirements. One person doesn’t drink.

My friend has already offered to bring the dessert so not getting stuff for that and friends always bring something they would like to drink.

Currently sitting in my online shopping basket I have:

12 x gluten free burgers
12 x buns; 2x gluten free buns
12 x regular sausages
6 x gluten free sausages
1 x large block of halloumi for grilling

Skewers to make:

  • At least 12 x chicken tikka kebabs
  • At leas x Lamb kofta kebabs
(I am making these things because they are often not gluten free but easy to just make them naturally gf)

1 x sharing bag Doritos
1 x sharing bag of other crisps
1 x jar of olives
1 x pot of coleslaw
Ketchup
Mayonnaise
Burger Sauce

Cheese slices
Hummus

Ingredients to make:

  • one large potato salad
  • one large roasted vegetable cous cous

Drink (bearing in mind they will also bring their own)

15 cans lager
4 bottles of ale
1 bottle white wine
1 bottle sparkling wine
2 70cl bottles mixed summer gin drink thing
Ingredients for espresso martinis
3 bottles flavoured sparkling water

I think you're missing something for the non drinker to drink. Something like Shloer

Barleysugar86 · 07/08/2024 20:55

It's missing my favourite part of a bbq- corn on the cobs! But maybe not for everyone. Sounds lovely anyway :)

SaltandPepper22 · 07/08/2024 20:57

@GettingStuffed I have flavoured fizzy water? Is that not enough? I was going to be appeltiser but I don’t actually think my non drinking friend likes it because I have bought it for her before and it wasn’t drunk 🤣

Bell peppers!

BBQ’d bell peppers are awesome.

In the words of Doris "where's the salad?"

SaltandPepper22 · 07/08/2024 21:00

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon i was going to put peppers on my chicken skewers - I could cook them separately?

In the words of Doris "where's the salad?"

Yes Grin needs a salad (there's the salad, now leave me alone!)

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 07/08/2024 21:01

Oooo, yes! On the skewers!

Putting · 07/08/2024 21:03

Any reason why you aren’t making all the sausages gluten free? Would be easier and it’s not as though you can tell the difference.

I agree with everyone else who has said you need salad, not just couscous and potato salad

Sunbird24 · 07/08/2024 21:04

Most decent sausages these days are GF, so I don’t know that I’d bother having non-GF ones as well, just to save having to remember which were which once they’re cooking/cooked!

Looks like a decent spread OP, hope you get suitable weather 😊

SaltandPepper22 · 07/08/2024 21:04

@Putting i can’t find any normal sausages in sainsburys that are gluten free…and the gluten free ones are so expensive!

I actually had salad stuff in my basket and then I was wondering if anyone would actually eat it of if it would just look nice and then go in the bin the next day 🤔

Tomatoes and onions to slice for the burgers, and maybe a soft drink for the non-drinker.

ETA - I forgot gherkins!

Sunbird24 · 07/08/2024 21:08

The Jolly Hog ones are, and the Taste the Difference range - special Nectar price at the mo too!

SaltandPepper22 · 07/08/2024 21:09

@Sunbird24 thank you! I’m off to have a look to see if I can get them for my delivery as I agree it would be easier!

Corn on cob

User478 · 07/08/2024 21:10

If you swap the couscous for quinoa then that's GF too?

cestlavielife · 07/08/2024 21:12

Remember to avoid cross contamination on grill separatel area for gf and separate utensils
Easier to buy all gf burgers sausages etc

SaltandPepper22 · 07/08/2024 21:14

@User478 great idea - I’ll do that! DH will moan, he loves my cous cous, I’m only making it at his request 🤣

@cestlavielife its just an intolerance she isn’t coeliac thankfully!

At BBQs I like chicken and green salads, other salads and a baked potato with sour cream and chive

Not a huge fan of sausages but happy with burgers

Cherry tomatoes to snack on on the side

Kpo58 · 07/08/2024 21:16

Couldn't you do something better than flavoured water for the non drinker (also do they drink fizzy stuff)? Fizzy water is way to sweet and usually full of sweeteners.

Mum2jenny · 07/08/2024 21:17

Corn on the cob
Vegi kebabs
prawn skewers
coleslaw
potato salad

SaltandPepper22 · 07/08/2024 21:18

@Kpo58 what would you suggest? She doesn’t like appeltiser or schloer - tbh I am expecting to make her cups of tea!

One halloumi block wouldn’t be enough for me. Never mind anyone else having some 😂

Ayeyourebeingadick · 07/08/2024 21:19

More halloumi

SaltandPepper22 · 07/08/2024 21:21

@CherriesBerriesAndBananas @Ayeyourebeingadick it’s a double size block don’t worry!
