Has anyone ever gone to wave at the Royals on Christmas Day at Sandringham?

Hello all

Yes I know this is extremely uncool but I want to tick it off my bucket list. And yes, I know it's August.

I'd be coming from central Scotland. So swithering about whether to drive or take a train and where to stay.

Any tips please?

Thanks

Thanks everyone, a quick search looks like a Premier Inn at Kings Lynn might be my best bet. Insanely cheap as well! And drive the 10 miles from there early in the morning.

@Pinkypup thanks, I can't seem to PM you - can you PM me?

If you haven't booked your hotel yet then Strattons in Swaffham is about 18 miles away, cheaper than a lot of hotels up near the coast and nice.

Obviously this is me OP, not you 😂, but I'd want a nice room to come back to at Christmas.

Do you know how you get a seat in the church with them OP?

Is there a way?!

I'm very excited to report back to you all! Already planning what coat/boots to wear. Gotta be practical but also wanna look nice for my big moment!

I once waved at the Queen and her husband when they were on their way from Aberdeen Airport to Balmoral. They didn't wave back.

I waved at QEII when she passed about 10 feet away during the Silver Jubilee tour. She waved back in my general direction, though I think it was more a casual "hello plebs" thing rather than aimed specifically at me.

Not sure if or how this radically altered the course of my life if I'm honest. I think it might have been slightly more memorable had she bothered to wear the magic hat.

what a load of petty responses from grown ass women! Shocking!!! No advice op but you do you, what a boring world it would be if we all liked the same things 🤦🏻‍♀️

Don't know. I had a very quick look for services at the church, didn't find much but it was a quick look. I think I found the email address for the church though. I would email and ask them. I think it would be really bad if the regular church goers all got booted out on Christmas day for the Royals so I expect they still go (?)

Hope you have a lovely time op & get a wave from the Royals. Will keep an eye out for you & your tiara in the press 😊

Christmas in Norfolk is fabulous. We have two favourite hotels that we alternate. Both hotels are very laid back and serve lovely food. We have a walk on either Holkham or Wells beach on Christmas morning taking a bottle of champagne with us. Lots of people do the same so there is a lovely happy atmosphere. One year we went to the Christmas morning service in the family chapel at Holkham Hall. Then we just eat, drink and laze about doing whatever we want. For us it’s the perfect Christmas.

That sounds so very lovely 😊
