Ingebritsen got his tactics badly wrong and Kerr was pretty much forced to go with him.

As a non-Brit it was a very exciting race & well done to Hocker!

His chest crossed first, so he got the place. Same issue in the 100m final!

Why should he?

He's set a new national record and won a silver medal.

He got the silver but Ingerbriksten only 4th.

Because he very clearly said he’d win the Gold during an interview.

He ran a lifetime personal best no one can do more than that. I think Ingerbriksten still feel a donut because he didn't even get a medal and he could have got one if he had run a different race. He must be gutted.

The lead up felt like a Will Ferrel movie! Glad the relatively unknown US athlete beat them both!

Nothing wrong with being confident, he got an Olympic silver and a PB, that’s not just a stroll in the park, that’s an awesome achievement. He’s allowed to be cocky, we don’t have to beat him down just because he knows he’s good. 🙄

Before and after the race he was very different - clearly he backs himself and he's confident in his abilities which is amazing.
