What's going to happen to everyone arrested?

peebles32 · 06/08/2024 18:00

So there have been 400 arrests. Courts are open longer and these idiots are been dealt with.
However, what will happen to them? I don't know much about the court system but I know there aren't enough places in prisons.
Will they get community service, fines etc

It obviously has to be tough to be a deterrent from others doing it. Will these people actually care if they have a criminal record?

I mean they just can't arrest everyone so how are they going to stop people rioting?

I thought our prisons were full?

They were until magic happened and the government found extra space for them. Funny

MissMoneyFairy · 06/08/2024 18:33

Bibby Stockholm is empty
Community service, fines, police record, unemployment for some, tagging, loss of passport,

SallyWD · 06/08/2024 18:35

These are the sentences

What's going to happen to everyone arrested?
MtClair · 06/08/2024 18:46

In 2011 (after the riions in London), many many of them ended up in prison. Not all for the max sentence but they are also looking at house arrest and being tagged etc…
I think many will have a huge wake up call tbh.

MtClair · 06/08/2024 18:49

I think quite a few of them won’t like to not be able to go to Europe and the US on hols
(The EU is going to check criminal records before giving Brits to ‘visa’ to come on hols. Starting next year I believe)

The government has been repurposing a former young offenders’ place in Borstal, Kent. 100 have already been remanded. Others are on bail. I guess some non-violent prisoners coming to the end of their sentences will be released on tag.

unsync · 06/08/2024 18:51

There's a certain irony that once remanded, they will be fed, clothed and housed, all funded by the taxpayer. Wasn't this one of the things they were objecting to with regard to the migrants?

AngelusBell · 06/08/2024 18:51

frozendaisy · 06/08/2024 18:09

Tagged, fined, community service, passports removed.

As long as the penalty is on their record, should make their car insurance higher and more difficult to find any decent employment.

Also their house and/or contents insurance.

If in social housing, they will be considered to have made themselves intentionally homeless and won’t have homes to go to on release.

IncompleteSenten · 06/08/2024 18:54

SallyWD · 06/08/2024 18:24

Not at all. They're facing very lengthy sentences - depending on whether it's criminal damage, inciting racial hatred, rioting. These sentences range from 5 to 10 years. Good.

Facing means nothing imo.
Let's wait and see what they actually get.

They don't like forriners so surely being unable to travel will be a bonus.

Remand prisons for now

Oh well never mind.
They are all so clever, only they know the truth of the whole situation most people are mindless sheep or something like that, they would have been fully aware of potential consequences of their actions, surely? Being so informed by reading things online.

HeyTalkToMeGoose · 06/08/2024 18:59

AmusedMaker · 06/08/2024 18:15

Well the government will never be able to say ‘our prisions are full’ if they’ve been able to find 500 places within a few days.

But they are full

Early release scheme means these idiots taking the spaces which WERE being made

Miley1967 · 06/08/2024 19:00

Could they put them all on the bibby stockholm and cast them adrift?

frozendaisy · 06/08/2024 18:55

Oh they hate them there forrinners coming here but they love going over there, calling the people there in their OWN country forrinners, yelling at them to speak English and serve proper English food.
I think they should have their passports removed for good. They want England so badly? They can go to fucking Blackpool on holiday and like it. Nasty ignorant wankers.

In recent years people have got high sentences for these crimes. Given that these are very serious racist offences I'm expecting them to get custodial sentences. I really hope they do.

AdiLane · 06/08/2024 19:07

IncompleteSenten · 06/08/2024 18:19

Fuck all, probably.
It'll all be quietly swept under the carpet. Maybe they'll get a fine they'll simply not pay or community service they'll not turn up for but it will just be expected we'll all forget about it and nobody will have to actually do anything.

And all the time 'Tommy Robinson' is lying on a beach in Ayia Napa, Farage is probably in a pub

Farage is probably in America, licking Trump’s arse. One thing is for sure, he’s not going to be in Clacton, is he?

allmycats · 06/08/2024 19:15

I would send them all to Rwanda with a 1 way ticket and away their passport when they arrive.

Beebumble2 · 06/08/2024 19:16

I hope they get a comfy long prison sentence, sharing a cell with a charming psycho who is serving a long sentence for GBH. I’ll leave his ethnicity to your imagination.

Crikeyalmighty · 06/08/2024 19:17

There were some very stiff sentences back in 2011 and Starmer was director of public prosecutions then.

Normallynumb · 06/08/2024 19:18

Bibby Stockholm is empty.. only room for 500 though

BitOutOfPractice · 06/08/2024 19:19

I think they should resurrect the Rwanda plan and send The lot of them there.

itsgettingweird · 06/08/2024 19:19

They have repurposed somewhere (can't remember where) and created something like 500 spaces for these rioters specifically.

So they'll be held on remand or bailed.

Then found innocent or jailed.

Most have just realised that in fact there are spaces - that's why they are crying in court.
