Miss Connolly who works as a childminder ShockShock

used to work as a childminder.

BustingBaoBun · 07/08/2024 15:20

Not racist my arse. Out and out disgusting to encourage burning down of a hotel and use that language about asylum seekerss. Also she knows she is racist, because why say... if that makes me racist, so be it.
I hope she loses her childminding licence. And more.

And as for her husband.... saying she can't be racist because she looks after bangladeshi children. That's the "I'm not racist, I've got a black friend" trope.

A few riot vans parked down back streets of Preston now.

Evenstar · 07/08/2024 16:08

I couldn’t bring myself to share the vile post that childminder had made when I first saw it yesterday. I was only aware of it as she had advertised her services on a site for childcare providers. She had been reported to them and they reported it to OFSTED and the police.

I hope that there will be support and checks on any families she had contact with. I am very concerned about possible ill treatment in the case of the Bangladeshi and Somali families and would be concerned about radicalisation in the case of other children 😔

Saucery · 07/08/2024 16:23

Wow, I have never seen as many ordinary police vehicles plus riot vans in my local area. I doubt it’s a hotspot for proposed riots, although I wouldn’t know if there were asylum lawyers here. There were asylum seekers in a local hotel a while ago, but no idea if they are still there. We haven’t had any problems with them and I’m sure the local FB groups would have said if there was, because they piss and moan about everything else so unlikely to let that one pass them by.

Can I join - this seems a lovely and calm part of MN. I can even provide some kitty pics of my 5 year old rescue cats that we brought home a few months ago.

My city is also on the list tonight with an attack on a specific immigration service but there's been talk of groups building up from early afternoon. All businesses in the area have been told to close for their own safety including essential services like the food bank, soup kitchen and baby bank. GPs in the area have closed, community nursing stopped and some services at the the city's hospital have been scaled back. Not to mention shops, restaurants, theatres etc all losing money and residents worried about what will happen. On Friday when we had our riot I was so upset and ashamed of our city but now I'm just so angry.

There really is nothing new under the sun.

Let fury have the hour, anger can be power Do you know that you can use it?

Saucery · 07/08/2024 16:40

It’s infuriating isn’t it @TattiePants . There must be scope for the organisers on social media to be tried under terrorism legislation if it’s affecting the way communities go about their business. Or anyone found to be part of a riot.

Here’s hoping the police forces have a boring night where they can just patrol and plan what to spend their overtime on - they bloody deserve it. Must be some major leave cancellation going on for the numbers that are out and about.

pointythings · 07/08/2024 16:44

The one good thing to come out of all this is that our sensible corner is getting bigger.

Lots of concern in my trust about potential rioting in Peterborough and impact on our staff. I'm based in Cambridge, but we're one organisation.

I love how your cats match your carpet. Or did you choose the carpet to match the cats? 😊

I'm also hoping tonight comes to nothing and the police have an uneventful night. It looks like they're not taking any chances as our main police station is just to the right of this photo and they've drafted in extra police / vans from other forces.

Looks like Nigel_Farage has bitten the Far Right hand that fed him.

The phrase ‘Thrown Tommy under the bus’ is now the most dominant reply to him and posts about him.

All this in just a couple of hours.

Finally some good news!

I went into Portsmouth today. Didn't see or hear about any trouble.
There is reports they are expecting some later but Saturdays gathering went off without hitch despite being people on both sides present.

itsgettingweird · 07/08/2024 17:16

The good news bit was in response to Garage getting his comeuppance!

Such a lovely bunch of people aren’t they, I’d like to shove ‘Our Tommy’ right up where the sun don’t shine.
