Loving the cat/carpet combo @TattiePants

Our town is also on the list - industrial estate right behind our house ffs - I mean if you want asylum seekers processed faster best thing to do it target the lawyers who help the process move forward

Daughters shop is closing early - her female boss is in a very frightened way right now - the police are worried they may be targeted by people coming form the 'protest' - more likely to be popping in on the way there to buy their Stella from the Asian owners being all polite like.

I'm so fucking angry about this - they burned 'our' hotel to 'take it back' but who the hell is going to visit a town now known for racist riots?

Our biggest draw is Anglo Saxon history - you know those true British folk - the Angles and the Saxons - the irony would be lost on them.

On FB the police have now made 4 arrests - they are banging on about 'catching real criminals - one woman crying that she's been waiting since Sunday for the police to come as her dog was bitten by another dog but they are too busy 'protecting immigrants' FFS they have no ability to think! Violent social disorder might tie up the police a bit love!

If the local rumour mill is to be believed it's expected to kick off near me tonight. So far there seems to be a very definite police presence and a bunch of shops have been told to close up early. I really hope that nothing comes of it but it's very scary.

NoDishiForRishi · 07/08/2024 17:50

And the local police have just issued a section 34 dispersal notice for the section of town it was supposed to start in.

Great.

L1ttledrummergirl · 07/08/2024 17:56

I feel incredibly lucky to live where I do, there hasn't been an inkling of trouble here. Facebook is also very calm.

PickAChew · 07/08/2024 17:59

We have a dispersal order, again. Hopefully it's as effective as yesterday. We don't even have anything to target, here.

DuncinToffee · 07/08/2024 18:02

Shops are closing early in our next door town and reports of police cars heading that way Angry

100 planned riots tonight so Sky said. And 6,000 special Police drafted in.

We have 3 or 4 large hotels that are currently housing asylum seekers, one is very close to me. I'm concerned for them.

DuncinToffee · 07/08/2024 18:08

An Immigration advice service is named as the target rather than the hotel they targetted last week

Yorkshire Tea’s advert with Kaiser Chiefs “I predict a riot” as hold music being aired again. I mean, it’s a bold move….

I hope somewhere behind the scenes, someone is looking at the people orchestrating this. Someone is providing targets, dates and times.for these facist yobs. They need to throw the book at them

I spoke to soon in my previous post, some kids on bikes in a nearby town have attacked a woman on her own, assaulting her and telling her to go home.

Fuckheads.

Saucery · 07/08/2024 18:31

It emboldens every shithead who ever thought they wouldn’t get away with it @L1ttledrummergirl . So sad.

itsgettingweird · 07/08/2024 18:50

I heard someone on the news today say that these swift arrests and prison sentences being a deterrent (or not) will be shown on whether tonight plays out as predicted or not.

Another city near me has shut up shop early as trouble predicted. Can't say I'm surprised as it's very multicultural with real pockets of deprivation so the racists were bound to stick their head above the parapet at some point blaming the immigrants

Welcome to all newcomers to our little community 💐

Yes, it’s lovely to find we have more kindred spirits. ❤️

PickAChew · 07/08/2024 19:48

The DPP has warned that they will be checking social media for all evidence of incitement. They're going to be busy.

Lovely counter-protest turnout in Newcastle. I hope it stays peaceful.

I’ve been out today and there were notices in various shops (including Lush) that they would be closing early this evening. On the way home when I changed trains there were about a dozen police at the station.

PandoraSox · 07/08/2024 20:10

Sky news showing crowds of anti-racism demonstrations in London, all peaceful and no racists in sight. I think the same is happening elsewhere.

Fingers crossed.

And Liverpool

PandoraSox · 07/08/2024 20:15

Birmingham too.

PandoraSox · 07/08/2024 20:17

Maybe the prison sentences and the talk of terrorism charges have put a lid on the riots.

PandoraSox · 07/08/2024 20:18

Bristol too.
