Really really deep.

New IPSOS poll. 60% of the public don’t care who the next Tory leader is. After 14 years their descent into irrelevance has been rapid.

I would guess that 80% of the "news" I don't give a shit about. In much the same way that no matter how much certain groups bang on about their pet subject won't make me any more interested. I would have thought the outcome of the election would have demonstrated that there are more people like me than not. Because no one I know, or have met, or chatted with at work or socially was worried about "small boats". That was all the media. It's their bedtime fantasy. (That and a glass of milk and they sleep soundly.)

I am sure Farage knows where the libel courts are. Assuming he isn't in the Yaxley-Lennon book of people who can't find a libel lawyer ?

"Andrea Jenkyns has the answer, hashtag E Musk for PM"

I didn't believe this but no, you are quite right, Jenkyns would like Elon Musk to be Prime Minister.
I'd pretend to be speechless but she's been dredging the bottom of the barrel for a long time.
Amazing the "characters" Johnson saw fit to give a title to, I'm almost sorry for Dorries.

This is a bizarre take from Tugendhat. Wait until he finds out who was in government up to 2018 and who was responsible for cutting rehabilitation programmes and the probation service.

US Republicans are quite free to waste their time obsessing about UK politics. Maybe they are going to use as their excuse for losing ?

"See, we would have held 7 rallies in 7 days across the key swing states, but hey, someone had to go after a politician none of y'all have heard of."

Presumably JD Vance has a lot of space between his ears to keep track of non US politicians ?

I look forward to the UK humour industry getting their teeth into this "new" development, I want to hear JD Vance spouting off about how the city of Camberwick Green has been taken over by Islamamamaists, and their ongoing civil war with the plucky denizens of Trumpton. Telling him he won't read about it on the interwebs because we don't have free speech.

PickAChew · 13/08/2024 18:24

Just looked up the street in Jaywick affected by the fire on Street View. I suspect a lot of those houses were uninsurable (lots of timber and in poor condition) so the occupants really will have lost everything.

RafaistheKingofClay · 13/08/2024 19:09

I think 3 of them were completely destroyed. But between smoke and water damage I’m guessing a lot of possessions in the other 7 will need replacing.

It turns out, Farage did eventually make a visit yesterday, according to the Express.

ilovesooty · 13/08/2024 19:48

I see the horrible benefit bashing thread from yesterday has been deleted... at the OP's request. 🙄

I imagine some of the posters who posted such repellent views have scuttled off to name change.

DuncinToffee · 13/08/2024 20:59

Luckily I missed that thread.

Anyone noticed that you now can't namechange within a thread?

I did notice the box had become greyed out this morning. Didn’t really appreciate the significance.

RafaistheKingofClay · 13/08/2024 21:31

That’ll be a pain for AndNobbyisDancing/AndSakaisDancing etc on the football threads. 😂

I wonder what happens if you’ve already posted under 2 names on a thread.

Answered my own question, you get stuck with the first name you posted as and can’t revert to your usual posting name.

Glad it wasn't in place for the election threads

Lovely lettuce green dress she’s wearing as well. Good choice whoever advised her on her wardrobe.

Zonder · 14/08/2024 07:39

Thanks @RafaistheKingofClay that's worth a watch!

The guy interviewing her (is that what he was doing?) had interesting body language - sitting right back in his chair.

Audience response sounds like there might only be half a dozen people there, and they disagreed with Liz on whether the lettuce was funny!

RafaistheKingofClay · 14/08/2024 07:50

At least one of them appears to disagree with her stance on Trump judging by the ‘what!’ near the start.

pointythings · 14/08/2024 08:27

I don't know why anyone would think Liz Truss has anything worthwhile to say. She's just an ex MP now.

Meanwhile in other news, DS has had a fall and is in the ER. And he can't find his insurance docs on his phone.
