I am so sorry for those who are feeing poorly. @itsgettingweird my husband had cluster headaches for a few years. They were horrible. I do sympathise. He got some good support tips from here. https://ouchuk.org/forum.

Thanks. Did he have the eye stabbing feeling? I'd wake up at 12.30 every night with my eye feeling like it was being stabbed with burning needles and my eye was watering horrendously. Then my eyelid would be so painful to touch for hours and hours.

itsgettingweird · 12/08/2024 10:43

I should say 111 rung my surgery to say I needed to be seen.
Apparently they hold some apts for 11. Seems counterproductive to me but 🤷‍♀️

LlynTegid · 12/08/2024 10:45

Sorry to read of the illnesses several of you have and hope you are all better soon.

pointythings · 12/08/2024 11:13

Joining in sending recovery vibes to all who are ill. Cluster headaches are the pits, a good friend of mine had them and had to push really hard to get taken seriously. Be that patient is all I can suggest.

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2024 11:22

I had the eyeball thing when I had shingles.

I had shingles last year! Right next to my spine - ooohhh the burning!
I'm usually quite healthy - not sure what's happened to me recently 🤦‍♀️😂

DuncinToffee · 12/08/2024 11:32

DH gets the eyeball thing when he has a fever, first indication usually that he is ill.

I don't think so. He was in a lot of pain for several hours (but not eyes) . This was a seasonal thing. It usually every year around winter time. It stopped a few years ago. It was horrendous. He found drinking redbull (at first sign of them )helped.

Oh he can fuck off. By all means manage the land, but hunting has no place in that process apart from satisfying the blood lust of a few. They treat their hounds and horses abominably too, so they have no place in today’s rural Britain.

Wonder if the “renowned human rights silk” is that lovely man who beat a fox to death whilst wearing his wife’s kimono in their urban garden?

Sorry to hear of the illnesses sweeping this thread Flowers
I got Covid the day after we broke up. It was a complete bastard this (third) time round and I’m not sure I’m completely over it yet. So, yay! holiday Covid Hmm

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2024 12:09

Interesting they don't tell us with what 5 definitions they 'hit the bullseye'!

DuncinToffee · 12/08/2024 13:04

Sir Keir Starmer has cancelled his planned summer holiday this week after the riots and will spend it working between Chequers and 10 Downing St,

Number 10: spokesman says: “The PM is not alone on this. We have seen many having their leave cancelled” as the work to deal with riots continues.

Well so he should. I mean, remember when Johnson cancelled all his holidays for things like Cobra meetings?

Nope, me neither.

DuncinToffee · 12/08/2024 13:11

Apparently on LBC, his sister tried to explain why he didn't return from his holiday during the 2011 riots

Here it is 😂

"His ex-wife was 5 foot 2, and her feet could not reach the pedals of the RV..."

Rachel Johnson shares a story with caller Chris to explain why her brother, Boris Johnson, did not return immediately from his holiday when he was Mayor of London and riots broke out.

So much police leave has been cancelled already and presumably anyone working in the court system too

There was a clip on twitter yesterday from 2011 of Johnson being confronted by an angry Londoner about his slow return from holiday - of course he just waffled and threw his hands around

Zonder · 12/08/2024 13:18

Good point Rachel. Makes sense 🤔 plus he actually probably really needed a no doubt freebie holiday!

I haave never head such bullshit in my life. Do the Johnsons think we are all blessed with just one brain cell?

Move the seat forward! (RVs are not just made for giants)
Hire another car!

Whatever... the excuses the tories come out with are shameful.

Afternoon, friends. Have been in hospital this morning having a Covid antibody infusion, as I’m eligible.

Doc said they are being inundated with Covid patients at the moment. Might be a good idea for folks to take extra caution. I probably caught it in the theatre on Wednesday. Never occurred to me to wear a mask.

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2024 14:09

My whole family got it one after the other ( me last) and, separately, MIL, so it is indeed EVERYWHERE at the minute.

I do hope you get over it quickly.
I think there is a lot going round, the number of Olympic athletes collapsing after pushing themselves too far with covid was quite a few.

Just for anyone on here, it might be of interest to say that I have got a booster covid jab that I paid for.
I have had covid twice and I've been lucky with it, and just didn't want to be third time unlucky. I'm ineligible so I paid for one, if anyone needs details how to, let me know.

Zonder · 12/08/2024 14:14

I would love to know @BustingBaoBun I wanted to pay last year but was told I couldn't.

For sure...

The vaccines are provided by PharmaDoctor.

https://pharmadoctor.co.uk/

They do health checks, you can choose your vaccine (subject to availability) and it's done at chosen pharmacies, and (for me, quite important) they inform your Doctor so it shows on my NHS app.

I know about this because Jenny Eclair (similar age to me!) wanted one and asked on Twitter and a Doctor replied, so I went for it!

If you want to know anything else, just shout 😂

Pharmadoctor, providing clinical services at your local pharmacy

The UK's leading provider of private pharmacy based clinical services. Clinical services include all vaccinations (travel health and seasonal vaccines), as well as minor ailment and test 'n' treat services.

I've just been out for a lovely lunch with a dear friend. Only a 15 minute walk so I enjoyed the weather.

Walking home o passed a house not far from me that said "illegal immigrants aren't welcome here. Stop the boats" or something along those lines.

Would it be terrible of me to pin a note underneath that says

"Bless your ignorant socks. An asylum seeker isn't an illegal immigrant."
